Well, thanks to Wikipedia, I made a list. For reference, these are all post-MGM, and TV series/episodes are marked with an asterisk.

The Land of Oz (1960)* - episode of "The Shirley Temple Show", a storybook anthology series much like "Faerie Tale Theatre"
Tales of the Wizard of Oz (1961)* - animated series featuring characters from the film/story
Return to Oz (1964)* - animated TV movie, not to be confused with Disney's 1985 film
Off to See the Wizard (1967)* - general anthology series from MGM, featuring animated introductions by Oz characters (some introductions appear on the 2005 DVD set)
The Wonderful Land of Oz (1969) - kiddie matinee film adapted from second book
Journey Back to Oz (1974) - Filmation sequel featuring characters from the books, with the voice of Liza Minnelli as Dorothy
Return to Oz (1985) - Disney's semi-sequel, a personal favourite but infamous for an almost apocalyptic Oz
The Oz Kids (1985)* - animated TV series featuring the offspring of the Oz characters
The Wizard of Oz (1990)* - animated TV series set in the MGM universe, with Dorothy returning to help save the Wizard from a resurrected Witch

And then, of course, there are dozens of new adaptations and reimaginings of the first Oz story, ranging from Japanese anime and Muppet vehicles to musicals like The Wiz.

I see no problem with new adaptations. Taking the original book(s) and making a new movie from it. But taking the script and just redoing it? Ummm...did they not see the remake of Psycho? See how well that went?

If this was an adaptation, I'd be all gun-ho to see it. Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That was NOT a remake. It was an adaptation of the original book. I know people seem to get confused between remake and adaptation. Or Batman and Batman Begins. Again, adaptation, not a remake.

But if it ain't broke...don't remake it.

Okay, I admit it's a bad, bad idea, but I can't help but be interested.

The Wizard of Oz is my favorite live-action film, I think, but there are still things about it that big me. Namely, the costume of the Lion (I wish he looked more like a real lion), some of the costume of Glinda (c'mon, a fairy princess ballgown? She's still supposed to be a witch!), the special effects (I want to see the witch look more like she's melting), and the ending confuses me...why did Glinda feel she had to teach Dorothy a lesson?

Is it that Dorothy wouldn't have believed the shoes could take her home unless she realized that she could always get her heart's desire, and home, by realizing that there's no place like home? I understand the lessons of films are supposed to be not plain and obvious, but...I'm not even sure if they really worked out why she had to go on that joruney to learn...what did she learn again?

I seriously want some people to try to explain to me how the ending has nothing wrong with it, what exactly Dorothy learned to believe the shoes would get her home and why she needed the journey to learn it, how it helped her.

It's unfortunate but it seems like good films will continue to get (usually) mediocre remakes. Why? Because the public think that new means better. It's like when a new games console comes out, the previous generation(s) are forgotten by most of the public.

According to the reports, they are using the original script, which means NO story changes. So if they stick with that, there won't be any changes, good or bad (other than making it in the first place).

2013 - Oz: The Great and Powerful
2014 - Wicked? (Screenplay's being worked on right now)

I honestly don't think Surrender Dorothy is going to go anywhere.

Hey now, no one be bashing Wicked! OK, I didn't like the book, but the musical was great, one of my all time favorites, so I would love to see an adaptation of it.

I really do not see the point in remaking this. Nothing will ever be able to top the original 1939 film (Though I did hear that not everybody approved of that when it was first released.)

I don't know if it's going to be a remake of the musical or if it's going to be an entirely new take on the books. I just hope they do not rely too heavily on CGI or motion-capture effects. They also better get good actors for the roles (Instead of use people who are "in" at the time they make it).

I like the novel far more than the musical, but... the musical is still fun, despite being highly overrated.

Maybe you should have been clear that you meant the musical's book, and also, do you mean Schwartz's pop melodies are bad, because you said they aren't un-bad, menaing they're not not bad. I'm confused.

If they keep it classic and make it more of a faithful adaptation of the book, I'm all in. Hell, I would even be in for a straight-up remake just because I love the 1939 movie that much and remakes never tarnish the originals for me.
