Disney Duster wrote:I'm really happy you like my idea, because your opinion matters to quite a lot. I had no idea Cinderella was at one time your favorite Disney movie, but that would explain the long writing about it. When did Alice come on top? Had you never seen it until then?
Well, I grew up with both Cinderella and Alice consecutively. I know I saw Cinderella first only because I don't remember my first viewing of it, but I remember (what I believe to be) my first viewing of Alice. I watched both films dozens of times. Cinderella would get watched by me literally every day without fail, which drove my family insane. Alice was watched by me probably every couple of days (along with Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and Robin Hood). When I was about 8 or 9, I got new furniture in my room. Somehow, the Alice tape got left in my old cabinet that I kept VHS tapes in. When the film was re-released on VHS in 1999, I bought it, watching it for the first time in about three years. It was then that I fell head-over-heels for Alice, especially since I understood things that when over my head as kid. From then on out, Alice became my number one favorite, getting watch by me literally every day for a long period of time similarly to my Cinderella streak as a little kid. Cindy's now my 5th favorite (Pooh and Beauty and the Beast got elevated when I re-discovered them as a teen while Hunchback had been my top favorite in between the Cindy and Alice periods).

I can't wait to read your detailed critique!

I am doing an experiment with Bitmaps. Behold the true beauty that is from Cinderella III:

This last effort is better because it is a bitmap made in Paint:

There's a giant gap between the last screen shot and your text, if that's what you mean by space.

That's hot.

Cinderella III: Spoiler Thread!

Yes, the gap was what I meant. Basically, I saved the bitmap in paint, but the image didn't fill the whole Paint document and it saved the white "canvas" of the Paint document. Yea. Thank you, anyway.

Disneykid: Oh, I see, yea, for some reason Cinderella seemed to be the first of a lot of people here. Perhaps that's what parents deem is the definitive Disney movie to start off with? I believe the first time I saw it was when I was 3. I fell reaching for one of the black rings dangling on chains on a jungle gym. I broke my arm, and to help me feel better after I got my cast, they rented these movies for me. I think it was just two: Cinderella and The Wizard of Oz. And then I remember getting Cinderella's Black Diamond for Christmas and it was such a wonderful memory. Anyway... it's very interesting how the movies changed for you, like I wonder if you eventually got tired of one, or if the things happening in your life had to do with it. Wait, you never found that old VHS of Alice left in your cabinet?! It was left at your old house?!

As for Hunchback, I liked it so much me and my Dad saw it twice, which I didn't usually do, but then a friend of mine said they didn't like it, and I wanted to fit in, so I "stopped liking it". I put that in quotes because now that I'm older I don't know how I'd like it again. I just remember getting a sound-book about it and I got to play Quasimodo with some kids on the playground when we acted it out, and stuff... I remember telling my Dad I didn't like it anymore and he was like "Really?!" and he was sad I think...OMG memories are pouring in and this is what I need for acting class! Anyway...yea, now your order of favorites is not quite mine, but most of your favorites are also mine. I'm gonna confess: I have not seen Alice in forever and I need to. I'll perhaps rent it sometime. When I get the chance and remember.

That was way more than I intended to type. Huh. Anyway, my critique will probably have some kind of first installment towards the end of February, but I don't want to do the whole thing until people from other countries, like supertalies, have the movie. If I do it the installment way, people can read it and decide if they want to read the rest, because I type on and on and on... :D

Supertalies: I chose Cinderella III screencaps for my bitmap experiment to give you a little extra something to tide you until March, so enjoy!

Go, go, go! Shoo, shoo, shoo! And make sure it's the Masterpiece Edition you're renting! :P :D

Oh, and we didn't move out; we just changed the furniture in my room. I didn't realize my Alice tape was gone until I placed all my VHS tapes back in my (then) new shelf. It makes me wonder if Alice would still be my favorite had I still had my old tape during that missing period of about four years or so. I'm going to say yes since (like I said earlier) Beauty and the Beast has been with me all my life, but it didn't sky rocket to #4 until I saw it again in my 10th grade English class.

And to make this post on-topic: The screencaps (except the last one) look a little noisy, which I assume is because they're bmps.

Cinderella spent too much time in her servent clothes. When Cinderella was trying to get the wand back and got caught by Tremaine she was wearing a different hat and apron but when she fled she had her own apron on which doesn't make since. Why they couldn't draw her without the apron at that point as Belle didn't have her apron on at several times in BATB?

Was that outfit she wore in the black and white photos at the end the same outfit she wore at the beginning of the movie?

When Cinderella had the wand and stated to say the magic words what was she going use the magic on?

Disney Duster, when are we going to get your opinions/theories etc etc of the movie? I'm dying to read it! Is it so detailed and accurate that its taking such a long time? But, I would expect anything less from such a Cinderella fan!

Can't wait to read it, whenever it comes!

Oops. Okay, now I get it. I will rent that Masterpiece as soon as I can! And thanks for the feedback on the bitmaps, yea, the first ones are less colors. I'm still new at this...

But you'll see more noisy images with this:

Well, she had her apron. Then she put on a palace maid's apron which covered that, so her stepmother wouldn't see her own apron. Then, she takes it off.

No, it's not. Her top is different in that picture from the one she wears at the beginning of the film. But it does look a little like the one she wears in the color painting at the beginning of the film, and that color painting could possibly be from the same event the black and white "photo" was taken at. I think those "photos" are just a paintings done in the same style as photo booth photos for humor.

She waves the wand and says, "Lift the spell! Let him remember! Bibbidi, Bobbidi-" She was going to use it on the Prince.

Actually, yea, it's going to be covering a lot, and it will focus on what I would have done if I made it...I'm actually thinking of employing my own animation by way of my scanner and my animation program, but this will take very long. I will try to do a first installment soon...

But mostly, I am just happy that you said you wanted to read it. You really know how to make someone feel wanted and worth something. :)

Oh I see she had her apron under the other one. How in the world did Tremaine recongize her?

Oh, I was wondering why it was taking so long! My goodness, that sure is a lot, to be overwelmed with. Just like others, I'm really eager to here your opinion, and how you would've changed things!

Btw, Take your time, good things are worth waiting for! :D
