I just listened to the clips...
What have the Cheetah Girls done to "So This Is Love"? When you speed up a song like "If I Never Knew You," it looses the mood the writer was going for, but it's still the same song. This version of "So This Is Love" is by no means the same song. Why did they change notes? I HATE when artists do that. The background music sounds absolutely nothing like the song and adding new words to a tune that isn't the actual song? Why? I hate it soooooo much!
I like the Jonas Brothers. I was impressed by their versions of "A Pirates Life For Me" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls." They are typically a highlight of the DisneyMania albums. "I Wanna Be Like You" is no exception. They tweaked a few notes, but the changes make sense and they keep it as close to the original as possible given their pop/punk/rock sound. Even though I don't care for their original music, they do decent Disney covers.
I'm mixed on Ashley Tisdales' "Kiss the Girl." I like her, I don't care for her voice, but I don't mind what she did to the song and I don't mind her voice on it as a whole. She may have butchered "Some Day My Prince Will Come" (another instance of pointless note changing that ruined the song), but I guess all is forgiven with this version. The only thing I don't like about it is the way it opens and closes. I could have done without the annoying speaking of "Kiss the Girl." This is probably the best cover of this song.
As for T-Squad's version of "The Second Star to the Right," this is my favorite Disney song of all time(the original version from the movie). I've only heard this version once on the DVD and during the first 45 seconds, I was horrified by the beat and the added lyrics. However, by the end, I didn't think it was as bad as everyone thinks. I would give it a 2 out of 5 stars on a whole, which is way more than I would give Cheetah Girls "So This Is Love."
I was very un-happy with the last Disney Mania CD, so this year I will probably just buy the songs I want off iTunes. This years selections seem to be on about the same level. I miss the days where they got mainstream good artists to cover songs. Remember how good the first Disney Mania was?

but the thing about this cds is that the stars get to song these songs their way, some pull it off, some don't. but the cheetah girls did good for "if i never knew you" true, its too fast and techno, but you have to remember that they're an all girl band for kids, they have to be fun and vibrant,i share your opinion on how they should of had their songs, but they made it their own. "so this is love" i loved!!! the song in itself wasn't that good, but its the first time i hear spanish on a disneymania cd so it takes to the next level where i stand.
isn't the old slogan for the albums "Stars Sing Disney ... Their way!"???

the slogen was Stars Sing Disney Their Way. but now it just uses differnt slogens like 3 was cool to the power of three and 4 didn't have one at all from what i've seen. and i hate how people keep putting T-Squad's song down when it's so good. saying it's no good is like saying you don't like Apple Pie.
i'm listening to So This is Love and i can't see how Second Star is worse than this piece of junk. sounds to much like a ballroom song instead of a good song. now i'm listening to Jonas Bros. song and i don't care for it just like i don't care for BFS's version of the same song. i think they should have clips for ALL the songs espesically Go-Go's Let's Get Together which i want to hear.

I listened to the samples too. The Cheetah Girls have once again destroyed a classic Disney song, but I give them credit for trying to make it their own. I like the hispanic spin. I'm guessing ever since they went to Barcelona, they have to incorporate spanish into their music? I always liked the Ashley Tisdale Kiss the Girl. The no secrets version was too too girly bubble gum pop, but surprisingly catcy. The Vitamin C version was boring. This one is the most exciting out of all of them and it incorporates interesting musical styles.
GRR I really wish they including the whole Jonas Brothers cover in the sampler like the other two! It just teases us because I guess they know that they're the best ones on the album so now we have to wait and buy it. I wonder why they didn't just put Poor Unfortunate Souls on it. I'm glad though that they did a new one because I was excited for the TLM song cover, but sad because I thought that meant they don't have a new one for Disneymania 5, but they did, yay!!!!!!!
All the other songs I look forward to hearing, except B5 and T-Squad. Who the heck are the Go-Go's?
It's annoying though that they keep repeating covers. Can't they have a volume that has more songs that haven't been done before than repeats?? At least there isn't another "When You Wish Upon a Star"...

I'm kind of sad that it isn't the 80's girl group, The Go-Go's. That's what I thought it was. I used to listen to them with my mom all the time when I was a kid. Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven Is a Place on Earth" is the first song I remember singing along to on the radio (she was a member of the group). Anyways, I'm excited that "Let's Get Together" is being done for Disney Mania. I guess it could work as a punk-ish song if done right. I guess we will see.

Then maybe it is the 80's group? Kind of weird, though. Belinda Carlisle just put out another solo album... in French.

On http://www.ultimatedisney.com/cdroundup ... .html#devo
it says: "DEV2.O launches Disney Sound, a new label planning a series of "remaking the band" projects. Next up: The Go-Gos. For now, our lips are sealed."
So, it's indeed not the band from the '80s. You'd think they'd at least change the band's name, even to Go-Go's 2.0.

It's the A*Teens all over again! lol. I swear, I will never understand why any record label would sign what is essentially a cover band. Well, I'm sure the new Go-Go's will have a similar sound and I can see "Let's Get Together" souding good with a Go-Go's style.

An Actor's Life For Me
I just realized that Pinocchio has another popular song that's been due for a remake, Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me), such a classic song, with wonderfuly written lyrics, it's a reflection of Heigh Ho. Which group/artist can bring justice to FoulFellow's (Honest John) memorable song? I can see the pleasure island lyrics being inserted with the 1st verse of the song, my choice would be
Jonas Bros
Miley Cyrus (As Hannah Montana)
John Mayer
Rascal Flatts
Everlife (They can adapt the "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee" lyrics)
Aly/AJ
Let me know your suggestions please.

I've received the screener copy of the album and am at work on the review. In the meantime, I can confirm that the Go-Go's in question here are in fact the original Go-Go's. They are pictured inside the liner notes and these clearly are not children singing.

That is awesome news, AwallaceUNC. Thanks for letting us know. By the way, when do you think we should expect to see the review? Before the release? Or will it be held for the Spring CD Roundup?
