Lady and the Tramp

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

You know how the platinum edition thingy at the top has a silver background. I thought that animal movies were supposed to have the gold background behind the words, instead of the silver which was for fairytales. It isn't really a fairytale because it was someone's idea. Why do you think that is?

There's no rule to which color the banner should be. They were going for all silver it seemed but then they went orange with The Lion King to match the cover better and now they stick with silver unless the silver wouldn't match. Then they do whatever color they want. The Little Mermaid's banner is going to be a turquoise color for instance.

I got it at Best Buy w/ a Tramp plush. I chose not to get the CC price-match because I did the Narnia pre-order (might as well, I thought, because even if someone else has a better give-away, at the very least, I break even on LATT).

The Toys R Us and Best Buy and FYE plushes are indeed all the same. I should've gone with my instinct and realized that Disney wouldn't make different plushes for different stores. Oh well.

It looks like the Tramp plus can be bought for $9.99 on its own at Best Buy if anyone is interested.

The bonus CD at WalMart is really nice. Most of the songs on it aren't originals, but they are good covers! And the CD came in it's own jewel box which sometimes the freebie stuff doesn't!

Some one mentioned CC and their freebie. I tried CC very early the morning Cinderella came out for the free Princess Bonus Disc that they advertised, and noone at the store had any idea what I was talking about! So then I went to WalMart and they were all out of their free CD!

I got to Wal Mart bright and early this morning for the CD!!!!!

Well, if you are going to Toys R Us for the free plushies, that offer was only available if you pre-ordered the DVD. If you buy it, now, you will not get the plushies, free. That's my understanding.

By the way guys, how do you feel about this LI upgrade? Not if it was worth it (obviously) but by the fact that it is the first LI to get a PE release (not counting TLK2).

PS

By the way both the DVD Insider booklet and the one that contains the info on the movie were quite a let down.

Sorry, should've been more detailed about my question. How do you know that the plushies are exactly the same at all of the stores?

Edit: Hehe, I love the plushies. :D

Didn't even have to show the ad, they have a list at each register and with a smile they give the discount. I love Best Buy and my Reward Zone card...........the points I got today were awesome and the other two people that I am going to give a copy of LATT and the plushie to are going to be so happy.

Found the best mis-mark today at Wal-Mart. I got the 2-Disc Special Edition of "Walk the Line" for $19.62. Just to make sure that it wasn't a mistake, I went back in an hour later and bought another copy for the same price. I am happy and my daughter is happy. Heck we saved a bunch of bucks on that movie.

Thanks so much for the tips, I went to Best Buy, was walking around, one of the "personal shoppers" told me to get another plush (I had picked one up, but had two copies), I told her I was gonna do the price match, as I had done a few weeks earlier with the golden girls. (not true.) She told me that I wouldn't get the plushies, but told me I could still get the price match without the ad. So I went over, waited in line at the customer service, and the girl told me, after I have her the golden girls story (I DID buy it there, but didn't do the price match, so I figure they owed me), that she would go ahead and do it this time, but next time I need the ad. She called circuit city, gave me the price, etc. I thanked her. She said it wasn't a problem or anything, but just that their manager had them STOP calling, and didn't really allow it anymore. But oh wells, I got my two copies.

I also planned on picking up another copy of Aladdin, but they were completely out.

You're lucky. MY CC didn't get the cards at all.

Did anyone else just have a slipcover? Did the DVD also have a nice openable cover with velcro? I know my Bambi and Cinderella DVDs did, but I was so excited when I grabbed LATT I didn't even bother to look.

(When I got Cinderella @ Walmart in October, I got two copies. And I kept the one with the cover that opened with the velcro closure)
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Don't know which Wal-Mart you are going to......but here in Wichita, Kansas, all eight of our Wal-Marts have prominent displays as you enter the front doors.

As far as the release of "Lady and the Tramp" goes........since I am not a nit picker, I was thoroughly pleased with what has been done with it. I have the original VHS Widescreen release and this is far superior to that. I am totally happy with the extras and think that they have outdone themselves once again as far as picture and sound quality goes. I am glad that they restored the original three-track soundtrack as well as the new Disney Enhanced for Home Theaters 5.1 mix. I just have one complaint, why do they have French subtitles on just certain parts of the movie - like the title, and the newspaper headlines, and things like that. I have checked my DVD player and checked the disc, and French isn't even offered on the disc even though it says there is a French language track. Nothing about subtitles. But that is trivial when it comes to the pure enjoyment of the movie itself.

Went to Best Buy yesterday and was able to get the Circuit City price match. The gal at the counter asked if CC had the same free plush and I said no, but they did have another free gift and I showed her the ad. She said it was only 2 bucks more so she matched the price for me.

I just think it depends on who you talk to.

Really? At my Wal*Mart, they have a cardboard display where you can get the DVD, there are two sections for it in the electronics section (one in the front and one in the back), and they even have a display for it in the pets' section, which I thought was pretty neat. You've got dog food, chew toys, and then the Lady & the Tramp Platinum Edition; it was pretty funny.

I guess some Walmarts advertise their stuff differently. Mine has a big LATT card-board display right when you walk in the store (it has dvds in the front; dog treats on the back). Then as you enter Electronics, there's another big display which has dvds all around it.

I was amazed at the restoration. I thought it looked crystal clear and flawless. And before I bought it, I hadn't seen it in several years, so I didn't remember much (even though I have the masterpiece edition on vhs). So when I watched the dvd, it was like seeing it for the first time (it will be the same way for me with TLM; I haven't seen that one in over 12 years!).

Well, I'm also surprised because it is the first time they do that.

But that just gets me thinking on how is the advertizing on this movie. I can't say I've seen stuff going on regarding LADY.

I just said this on another board, (guess I should have looked around first) but anyway I got my copy at Zellers for $10.00 cheapers because I used Club Z (HBC Rewards) points. It funny because I paid 18 dollers for the dvd and 28 dollers for the video ten years ago.
