Yes, I know. However, in Narnian time, The Horse and His Boy came after LWW.Escapay wrote:Prince Caspian is the direct sequel, as it was the second Narnia book published (LWW in 1950, PC in 1951), while The Horse and His Boy was the fifth (in 1954).Prudence wrote:Anyway, that being said, Prince Caspian is considered the direct sequel by most Narnia fans despite the fact that The Horse and His Boy takes place between book the second and book the fourth.

While this bit of news does relate to the Narnia film franchise, it correlated with the second sequel:
Box Office Mojo has announced that Disney has pushed the release date of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader from its intial May 1, 2009 release back a year. The new release date for the third movie is now May 7, 2010.

While I was initially disappointed at the move, I think the movie will only benefit from it in the end. One year is far too crunched for a production, even if the pre-production overlaps with the post-production of Prince Caspian. If the rest of the films follow the same pattern (one every other year), I'm hoping Michael Apted (the Dawn Treader director) comes back for Silver Chair. The way I see it, Adamson should handle the first two involving the four Pevensies (Wardrobe and Caspian), Apted should handle the two Eustace stories (Dawn Treader and Silver Chair), someone else should handle the two flashback stories (Horse and His Boy and Magician's Nephew), and have Adamson come back for the Last Battle, where every character comes back for a final bow.
To counter balance the bad news, here's some delicious news: the official teaser poster for Prince Caspian:

I absolutely love it. What I love most about it is how it emulates LWW's theatrical poster in style, lighting, and composition. Hopefully the final theatrical poster will match LWW even more since I'm anal when it comes to consistency in a film series (::glares at the non-uniformity of the Harry Potter posters:: ). Georgie and Skandar have certainly matured, though William and Anna look exactly the same. I can't wait to get a full-color still of all four of them. A teaser trailer shouldn't be too far behind. I'm willing to bet that it'll debut with Enchanted in November.

Well I have to admit, I am a little disappointed to hear the film was pushed back another year. As this rate we'll only be getting Narnia films every two years. The Harry Potter films have made it through production quickly, I wish Narnia films could do the same. Though, like Disneykid said, it might be good for the film. Pushing back the release date will allow more time for production and could result in a much better film.
As for Prince Caspian, I am so excited for this movie, I think it's going to be great. The poster is amazing looking.

Crap! I was looking forward more to Dawn Treader than Prince Caspian. And now I've gotta wait another year...azul017 wrote:Box Office Mojo has announced that Disney has pushed the release date of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader from its intial May 1, 2009 release back a year. Well, I'm hoping they won't wait two years between every movie because that would just take too damn long. The Last Battle in 2018??? No way. Other than that; this sounds good for the most part, although the two "flashback stories" as you call them should probably not be handled by the same director (if the plan is to change directors based on what stories "go together") as they really are about as different from each other as two Narnia stories could ever be.Disneykid wrote:If the rest of the films follow the same pattern (one every other year), I'm hoping Michael Apted (the Dawn Treader director) comes back for Silver Chair. If it makes the movie better then I don't mind the push-back. Sometimes more time is good for everybody, for the crew, the actors and the guys in post-production, and it makes the ecxitement even bigger.
The teaser-poster looks amazing, I can't wait to see the movie next May.
I especially think Aslan's head in the background looks kinda cool, like the big protector of everyone. I love Aslan. He is the sexiest lion on earth.

<a href="http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a759 ... italSpy</a> reports the move may be due to an actors' strike scheduled for next June.
The third film in The Chronicles of Narnia movie franchise, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has been pushed back a year to 2010.
Film bosses at Walt Disney had wanted to release one Narnia film per year but this will now not be the case as the third installment is forced from a May 2009 release to May the following year.
Although a reason has not been given for the date change, it is suspected that it is due to the possible actors' strike due to hit the movie industry next June.
Family adventure movie G-Force, which sees a group of animals try to prevent an evil billionaire's world domination attempt, will take Dawn Treader's original release date.
