In all honesty I have never had the pleasure and honor of seeing this movie, but I will once the DVD is released. I hope there is more bonus features - with no fluff! lol That is probably the actual stuff that relates directly to the movie vs. the kiddie games and or activities that will be included.

The promo in the promotion booklet in the UK Aladdin DVD reused the cover art of Bambi from an old US video release that came out in the late 90s as a "55th Anniversary Special Edition". The anniversary title was just part of a rushed advert.

I have been wondering this for a While i believe it was said or mentioned somewhere not sure in the Movie that It takes place in New England was just curious where the setting would be, Possibily Mass, Rhode Island, or CT. Btw is movie is by far over the Fox and the Hound my Favorite Disney animated Dog Tale.

We're obviously also getting the "Platinum" title. If, as stated before, you notice, every single Platinum Edition, with the exception of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has a second "title" which is "2-Disc Special Edition". LatT's just happens to be "50th Anniversary Edition"

Now, that's more like it! It sounds much better than before... but, still, I can't get over the fact that it seems Disney is no longer recording audio commentaries for its films. The shame...

The optimistic side of me: This definitely sounds meatier than before, particular the Disneyland show excerpts. It's also nice to see Disney not only including the original theatrical trailer, but reissues, as well.

The pessimistic side of me: This still looks like a rather light release. If people found Cinderella to be fluffy, I can't imagine what they'd think of this, particularly since it seems like one could go through the Backstage Disney section in two hours (depending on how long the Disneyland excerpts are).

The cynical side of me: If Cinderella of all films didn't receive a commentary track, then I'm glad Lady and the Tramp isn't getting one, either. It would really tick me off to see them skip Cinderella and give everything else afterwards a commentary. The only Platinum coming up that should get one is The Little Mermaid since the filmmakers are still alive and have done tracks for Aladdin and Treasure Planet. If we add the mysterious four to the line up, then Pinocchio should get one, too.

Still, as much as I love Lady and the Tramp, I can't quite call it one of my favorite Disney movies, so I'll be satisfied with this roster. I can't help but think that die hard fans will feel short changed, though.

Maybe that's why they haven't done commentaries for the other Platinums because no one is alive. If they don't use any filmmaker, then they'd probably use someone random and I don't think it'd be worth sitting through that.

But for "Bambi" they had the "Inside Walt's Story Meetings", in which they got actors to portray Walt and his animators! It fact it's one of the finest pieces of bonus material EVER created on the DVD format. Why Disney couldn't do something like this to Cinderella or Lady and the Tramp is questionable!

This DVD now looks very impressive IMO! Okay so it isn't as mindblowing as say Snow White or Aladdin. It doesn't even look as good as Beauty and the Beast or Bambi, but it looks much better than both Cinderella and The Lion King as has a pretty big chunck of bonus features that will be enough to please me!

As for the film, I didn't remember anything about it until my last viewing about 2 months ago, and I gotta say, I was very unimpressed with the movie! The plot went into no detail, the characters were developed poorly and there was not a single moment in this film where I said in my mind "This is a great movie". I mean almost every Disney movie has to have at least one of those moments, but LATT had nothing for me! I did enjoy the music though and I do love the idea of a romance movie with dogs, I just found the movie to be done poorly!

Personally of the remaining Platinums left (excluding the 4 new ones ) the only one I'm looking forward to is "The Jungle Book" as it's one of the greatest achievements the company has ever done! I hardly remember anything of "101 Dalmations" and I really got tired of "The Little Mermaid after all those threads! However I must admit, TLM is starting to grow back on me and I would like to have it on DVD soon, but yet I have the patience to wait as it isn't in my top 10 favorite Disney films or anything like that.

But in the end, I'll still buy Lady and the Tramp because its getting a great DVD and well because I want to be a Disney completist! Plus the film isn't terrible, it's just weak, but who knows, maybe I'll like it better the second time.

Plus, remember that with the Looney Tunes DVDs, The Wizard of Oz and a number of older Disney features like Peter Pan and Snow White, audio commentaries were created by film historians (not really a random; they know their stuff) narrating the feature with comments from remaining cast members and old sound footage from dead people who worked on the movie. That makes the whole thing sound even more puzzling.

Totally agree.... This is the only thing that I really wanted on this DVD... I suppose an excerpt is better than nothing, but I don't know WHY they couldn't have just shown the entire episode...

I suppose the only other thing that is missing is a dazzling teen pop song.. So unusual for a Platinum to not have this vital inclusion !
(Perhaps the girls from "No Secrets" will surprise us and turn up on the DVD in Siamese cat costumes )

Well, I believe they are going to include the half of "Story of Dogs" that concerns "Lady and the Tramp". Since the other half of the program is included on the "Complete Pluto" DVD, you more or less have the complete show.
