Did you mean Brian Sibley's website www.briansibley.com had some interesting news regarded Limited Editions?

No, I meant UltimateDisney's front page, but I guess both work.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

UltimateDisney.com front page wrote:In less depressing news, Disney plans to offer three premium editions of Snow White, each centering on the Blu-ray/DVD combo. Details are sparse thus far, but you'll be able to get Walt's first animated feature in a 7 Dwarf Plush Pack ($79.99 SRP), with book packaging ($59.99 SRP),
or in a Limited Edition Box Set ($249.99) housing at least a book, pins, lithographs, and some fancy packaging. Though the premium sets are not yet up for preorder, we've added a tentative packaging shot to our Upcoming DVD Cover Art page.

oh my gosh those collectors editions are expensive! question time:

Are they the same price as the collector's set for TLK and Aladdin? Or do stores sell them for significantly less than the SRP?

Is the difference between the DVD packaging and the BD packaging solely the cases they are put in??

so confused

I do not remember TLK, Aladdin, or Cinderella's collector's sets costing any where near that. (The $250 one).

I hope they don't limit these collector's editions to just the Blu-Ray-DVD combo unless one version is the 2-Disc DVD with extra Blu-Ray disc of just the movie. If they do that I might consider one of the collector sets (not the $250 one. I'm already going to be putting money out on the new Beatles Box Sets coming out 9/9/09 )

This better be released in Europe as well.

Because I will be royally pissed if it won't. Naturally I still haven't been able to hack my Blu-ray player so no region1/A for me yet. :x :x

oh and that cover art.....

there are no words to describe the pure hideousness of it. I hope they change it. For 250 bucks they could at least let one of their ANIMATORS design a cover art and not the idiots that run the Disney Princess campaigns. They're clearly a bunch of talentless hacks who need to be fired. There is no excuse for this clip art fiasco gone wrong.

Patrick I so agree with you , and as I have said in many , many postings on here how can a great studio like Disney with so many great animators and artists working for it produce such an APPALLING cover???

As you say Patrick this sh***y cover is pure Grade A or should that be Grade Z garbage!

Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave , or revolving in his cyrogenic container at the thought of his beloved Princess Snow White being released in such a box!

That and I've yet to see what's in the box set that makes it cost $250 from they already said is in it, I don't see how it's worth that much.

250.00 won't be the FINAL price...it will retail for probalby around 160.00 or so..?

I think the plush set might be pretty cool.

I cannot quite belive Disney are going to push this as the final cover art. I like the fact that they are using a new approach when it comes to their covers, (no longer having the giant head plonked above the title) but the snow white covers look just dreadful !

I know the Wicked Queen is an icon for Disney .... but I'm suprised they have put her in the middle of the cover and pushed Snow White down the bottom. Shes a flipping Princess ! I thought Disney loved pushing the 'Princess' angle of their movies ? And the Queen is featured twice ... Mind you, there are quite a few covers floating about arnt there, of the blu and dvd release ? So it seems if Disney is unsure about what to use as well ?

If I knew that Disney would do this for every platinum edition I would fork over the money for the collectors set, but not if they're going to be inconsistant.

That's one thing you could never accuse Disney of being ... consistant !

The other Collector sets were only like 50 bucks right??

Irregardless, I am going to buy the collectors set even if it is $250. And I really hope Disney keeps releasing them, although I don't know if they will do one with Fantasia because of the Anthology, but here is hoping to a BatB Collectors Set.

In all fairness, those sets were a bit skimpy. Yet I have to admit, unless there's some real surprise lurking in a set worth $250, then there's not much point to it being that price.

WOW cool news!!!! I love the look of the expensive box set. I forked over more money to buy the Snow White VHS box set when it was released and I am glad I paid the extra money for it. Of course I know it only cost me around $70-$80 but that was in the 90s. The Blu Ray cover itself tho is HIDEOUS tho. I cant stand it!!!! I sure hope they change it.

Wow, is Disney trying to confuse consumers? I think there are way too many versions of the same product out. They’re basically tricking consumers to purchase the Blu-Ray by putting it in the DVD packaging. I’m still very confused.

So there’s:

- Snow White 2 disc Blu-Ray + 1 Disc DVD in DVD casing
- Sow White 2-disc Blu-Ray +1 Disc DVD in Blu-Ray casing
- Snow White 2-disc DVD in standard DVD casing
- Snow White Collectors Set

Is the above information correct? lol

I really haven’t posted here in a while, but I do read the posts each day. I am a true Blu-Ray advocate. I no longer collect DVD’s, and I’m planning on re-collecting everything on Blu-Ray. I do have a Blu-Ray player built into my laptop, but once Sleeping Beauty was released I had my family go out and purchase a few Blu-Ray players for the household. We had already purchased an HD T.V. and did the whole surround sound thing a few years back. I am completely blown away by Blu-Ray. I own both the Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray and 2-disc PE DVD. With the equipment there is no comparing the two. Even fully restored, the DVD is still not as impressive as watching the film on Blu-Ray. Sorry for straying off-topic, it’s just that I’ve been reading the ongoing debates and wanted to post my opinion. I apologize if this is the wrong thread for doing so.

The cover art for this release is appalling. When I first saw the cover I liked it; I liked the new direction Disney was going in. After looking at it for a few days, and seeing this alternate version, I really don’t know what to say. If you totally disregard Snow White, a few dwarfs, and Grimhilde being off-model, you still can’t get over the fact that the cover looks like it’s for “Snow White II: The Queen’s Revenge”. It really looks like an “Enchanted Tales” cover. Snow White is completely off-model and needs to be fixed. It’s a huge advertisement for the Disney Princess franchise, and Snow White deserves more respect.

The cover with the giant apple is equally ugly. The reflections in the apple look like they were cut out in Photoshop, warped onto the apple, and then they lowered the opacity. These are some of the worst covers I’ve ever seen. Disney is a company founded on Art, maybe it’s time they sent that message to their home entertainment graphics department. I could do, and will attempt to do, a better job.

I rather have any one of those previously mentioned covers than have the cover with the Hag in the center. Since when is this move all about the Wicked Queen? Don’t get me wrong, I love the Villains, and I hate when they’re not given their fair share on the cover, but this is a tad too much. The movie is called Snow White, not “Old Lady with apple gets admired by handsome prince”.

I like the overall concept of the covers, and their layout. Having said that, the images and character models need to be fixed. This film deserves better. I do love the collector’s edition though.

There's also the Seven Dwarfs Plush Set (for $79.99) and the Book Packaging (for $59.99).
