Aw! I was hoping Lavender's Blue and Drisella's song would both be part of the soundtrack. By the way, Lily James is a great singer! She not only sang during the end credits, but she also sang in the movie. :)

What songs are in the movie?

Does Helena Bonham Carter sing in the movie?

I went to the Disney Store today and saw they had the shoe on display in a plexiglass case to help promote the movie. It's not for sale, but it looks neat atop all the other new Cinderella stuff.

I'm Disappointed that for the new collectible dolls made there's not one of the Prince by himself in his green tunic.

"A Dream is a Wish" is also an excellent book. A must for any Disney Cinderella fan since the largest part is about the making of the animated movie.

The only songs in the movie are Lavender's Blue, sung at various points of the film by Ella's mother, Young Ella, and grown-up Ella, and Drisella's song in a scene where she is playing the piano whilst singing badly at the same time. During the end credits, there are three songs. One is A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, sung by Lily, and another is Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, sung by Helena Bonham Carter. Carter doesn't sing in the actual movie, but she does say "bibbidi-bobbidi-boo" during the transformation scene.

This is going to sound crazy .... But do you think Lilly James actually wore the crystal butterfly shoes ? Looking at the ones on display, I just don't see how she could have ?! They are just so high ... Wouldnt your feet sweat and slip forward ? Unless they are made of some super special fibre glass or something like that.

I mean, I'm not trying to say I think she actually wore glass shoes ... But even a repro in different materials would be hard to wear, surely ?

Nope. Lily didn't wear any crystal or glass slippers. She apparently wore leather shoes, but they were later computer generated into glass.

Also, some of the reviews are laughable. One of the only complaints about the film is that it's too colorful/bright/happy/Lily smiles too much, etc. It's like people want a film where there is nothing but pain and destruction. To me, there's nothing wrong with saccharine and sweet. It is refreshing to see a sincere film that has plenty of heart. There are dark moments and themes in the film, and Ella is strong and does stand up to her stepfamily at times, but it's like people these days think strong means carrying a sword and forging into battle. It kind of reminds me of the initial reviews The Sound of Music got when it first came out -- too sweet/saccharine/everyone is happy -- but it went on to win Best Picture and is still very much remembered and celebrated 50 years later. Not saying Cinderella is going to win any Oscars (I think Best Costumes and Best Art Direction nominations are very possible), but I know what I saw a few days ago will be successful and will be remembered.

Well, at least, it seems destined to earn a fresh tomato at Rotten Tomatoes! That's a first for these Disney fairy tale reimaginings!

To be honest, I don't give Rotten Tomatoes that much credit. The problem is that sometimes they don't seem to be clear if a review is good or bad. It's not often it happens, but I've seen it once in a while.

What ?! Even the shoes were CGI ?! I logically knew they couldnt have actually glass shoes, but you'd think with all the clever things they can do with materials she could have had fibreglass ones or something ? Really shocked they weren't anything special at all

I'm glad everyone is using spoiler tags in this thread, otherwise I'd have to stay the heck out of it for a few weeks lol. But I'm glad to hear I will "cry of joy", OldFishTale!

I hope this gets nominated for and even wins Best Picture. I know, I know, it's so unlikely. But I can dream...and believe...even if my belief isn't that high for it and there's no way I can work toward it to make it come true, lol.

By the way, you can buy the glass slipper, Flanger-Hanger! I bought one on eBay for almost $300, but on Amazon you can buy that same one for $445 (Click here for that one). It even has the Swarovski crystals in the butterfly just like in the movie! But it's a Limited Edition and only 500 were made!

Oh, and I just got A Wish Your Heart Makes and it looks like a great, beautiful book, and thank you Flanger-Hanger for telling me it's mostly about my favorite film, but I will read the whole thing after I see the movie. The only thing is, even though they fixed the cover's main, top image, to an actual capture from the film, and that's good (except of course how the 2005 restoration ruined it...), the bottom image from the film is still not a capture from the film, but like a stock photo. I know, I'm the nit-pickiest guy about a film ever!

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. It would be really fantastic if it would be nominated for Best Picture. Even if it won't win, it's still a great honor.

Didn't know about that. I just saw the display at the Disney Store said "not for sale".

I read the whole thing and it doesn't spoil anything too much about the new movie, but I totally get if you want to wait to read it.

I can totally see this getting Oscar nominations for Best Costumes, Best Production Design, Best Makeup, and maybe Best Visual Effects (the dress transformation and midnight transformation were spectacular and impressive, but I'm not sure if it's enough to snatch Oscar nominations). Other possible but highly unlikely nominations are for Original Score (I loved the music) and Original Song, depending on how popular the end credit song gets.

Maybe my belief in this film for Best Picture is high...I want it to be.

The visuals, music, and some of the acting for this film so far seem Oscar worthy to me!

Thanks Flanger-Hanger, but I will still wait till the film is over and after I've read a few other books I've been meaning to and then I will read what will be a wonderful dream for myself!

Thanks Scamander for the links to the film premiere and panel! They were great! It looks like they had so much fun making this movie, and loved it!

May I ask, does the score incorporate anything of the classic songs ? Or does it not involve them a la Maleficent save for the credits ?
