Well those are 2 movies with pretty popular characters vs a controversal film that is introducing characters no one knows that is being released by a company that has been dieing for a huge hit since 2002....blackcauldron85 wrote:Not that I think that there's a conspiracy theory (or maybe I do...), but have any Pixar movies had to change their dates around due to competition?yukitora wrote:It's a shame that Disney movies are the ones that suffer from competition.
I agree that it shouldn't have had to move, but I don't blame anyone for making the move. I feel like have 3 animated films released on the same day is a bad idea to anybody.

Gee, I don't know what 'Avatar' is about, but does Disney really have to fear for competition from "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2"?mooky_7_sa wrote:PatF's release date is now moved to November 2009, in order to avoid the competition from James Cameron's "Avatar" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2".
Also, the first official poster is supposed to come out this Friday.
I read this at PatF's IMDb board.

Avatar is the much-anticipated scifi film from James Cameron, and his first (aside from documentaries) since Titanic. So there will be a helluva lot of Cameron fans and scifi geeks planning to watch it.BelleGirl wrote:Gee, I don't know what 'Avatar' is about, but does Disney really have to fear for competition from "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2"?
And never underestimate the power of chipmunks. Especially among children who'll gleefully laugh at high-pitched talking animals and fart jokes.

Really?? AatC2 is coming out next year?? I thought it'd be out by 2010?mooky_7_sa wrote:PatF's release date is now moved to November 2009, in order to avoid the competition from James Cameron's "Avatar" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2".

BTW, I so cannot wait to see the first official poster of PatF!
I'm with you 100% there, I really really hope that The Princess and The Frog is going to be a brilliant new classic marking a new era for Disney. Alot relies on this film, if we are ever to see more 2D Classics in the future which I soley hope for then this is going to have to be a Box Office Hit, no pressure!DisneyJedi wrote:Really?? I love The Little Mermaid and Ariel

It's not official concept art it's Prince Kido's who is just a fan of Disney with amazing talent in drawing. I think his blog was posted somewhere in this threat. I was also looking for the theatrical poster but with no avail. That must mean that it has not been released yet, right? If anyone knows more, please do tell...

Not to offend that artist, but I certainly hope Tiana doesn't turn out looking that way. The design looks way too much like Penny (from The Proud Family) and it's strange to have a tiny, anorexic-thin girl in a huge, billowing dress. Doesn't fit at all, imo. I do like the overall feel of the dresses though--with the flowers--but it shouldn't be that large unless the character is going to have a realistic waistline.

Yes, I have. But a design can always be subject to change. Mostly, I was just giving an opinion on the concept of what "she could've been." Sorry if that irritated you.sotiris2006 wrote:Emmm..she doesn't. Haven't you watched the teaser trailer or seen any official pics of Tiana?Disney's Divinity wrote:Not to offend that artist, but I certainly hope Tiana doesn't turn out looking that way.

I think it's too late in production of the movie now for the design of Tiana too change again.Disney's Divinity wrote:Yes, I have. But a design can always be subject to change.
I wasn't irritated at all, sorry if it appeared that way. I just didn't realize at first what you meant to say.Disney's Divinity wrote:Sorry if that irritated you.
The following article about the film appeared in the New Orleans newspaper The Times-Picayune today so I thought I'd share the link here:

Great article! I love this quote:
"I think 2-D animation became the scapegoat for bad storytelling. That's why we believe so strongly in it and we're bringing it back, and to me it just makes sense. The one studio in the world that should be doing hand-drawn animation is the one that started it all."
