I Would Like to Know... (Who Here is Gay?)

For about a few months now, I have been out to my friends (and kind of to my mom) as being what I assume is Bi (I would consider myself a 4 on the Kinsey scale).

I haven't said anything about it on UD, but I figured when this thread popped back up that it was a better time than ever, so here I am!

Thanks guys! I was really nervous about telling my friends, but they've been more than supportive and it's just been great!

SpringHeelJack, I feel kind of stupid, seeing as I'm not sure what you're saying in your post, due to the fact that I'm not sure what all of those letters stand for. I know up until the Q, then I'm not sure.

Congratulations, lord-of-sith! It's great to hear that so far your friends have been understanding about it. I know it can be a difficult thing to do, especially since I've lost two of my friends who avoid me now since I told them I'm gay.

It's wonderful to hear that you're open about it now, and congrats again!

Aw, that sucks about your friends

I think it helped that all of my friends are arts people, so I think they're just naturally more accepting of it. Whats also awesome are the people who come to me now that I'm open about it and talk to me about how they think they might be and all that, I love it.

Random Story time

My friend and I had a fight today, I found out her boyfriends been telling her I was gay (he used other words for it though) and kept trying to get her to confront me about it. Of course he's right, but I told her that he's just a jerk who should mind his own buisness and stop trying to ruin our friendship.

*sigh* I'll never understand why he does what he does, at least my friend didn't believe him, that would be a disaster.

Congrats Lord of Sith! Glad to know your friends are cool with it! And hopefully your mom, when she fully knows.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends Tim...guess goes to show they weren't real friends to begin with. But I'm sure you'll find more friends who are accepting as to who you are.

For myself, everytime I tell a friend if the topic happens to come up...I get that flushed cold nervous heart beating feeling. But definitely not as much as when I told my Best Friend. Oh and btw...that bf I was so happy talking about..we ended a while ago...and I was very </3...but now...I'm single and ready to mingle! hah I'm so immature.

I didn't really come out of the closet so much as stumbled halfway out with a ton other items that were in there at the time

Some people on my Mom's side know, Mom, Grandparents, Aunt, Cousin and that's it from what I know. It was a weird messy confusing ordeal.

My one friend knows, that's why she tipped me off about the boyfriend being a jerk. My friend that's dating him doesn't know because she talks to my Dad and his side of the family a lot and they aren't open minded about this stuff

Sooo yeah that should cover it..

Thanks, Jeremy and lord-of-sith. Most of my friends have been understanding, mostly because of like you said, a majority of my friends are either theatre or music people like me.

My other two friends I understand might be uncomfortable by it, but if they can't accept me for who I am, then I don't want to be friends with them anymore.

I'm still having trouble coming up with the nerve to tell the rest of my family, but perhaps I should wait awhile. I think although most of my neighborhood already knows I'm out, because I told one of my neighbors, and I think then he told somebody else, and down on, and everybody seems to look or stare at me whenever they see me outside or going somewhere.

I'm so sorry to hear that your friend's boyfriend is behaving that way, Chernabog Rocks. He has no right telling anybody else unless you tell them yourself. I just really hope too that your dad and his family can be a bit more open minded and accepting of it. It's never an easy thing for anyone to usually understand, but over time I'm sure that will come to accept you for who you are.
