Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Thanks for your help!
But, in Perrault's, is it "Culcendron" or "Cucendron"? Do any of those mean "Cinderwench", or "Cinderbottom", or "Cinderass"?
And so, it actually is possible in the original tale, original Walt Disney film, and 2015 Disney film, the "illon" in "Cendrillon" is just a feminine combination with the word "Cendre"?

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Wow, I'm so glad they have such hopes for this film! It better live up to them. Aaaand...I think it will!
The new web site has the full new trailer!!! And it...is...tremendously great!!!!
The acting of Lily James and Cate Blanchett is phenomenal! And Ella's doing so much more, greatly helping animals, standing up to people and traditions (like the prince in this movie also does), showing off her kindness and strength and humor and flirtation! She's just...doing more, than I expected! And it seems so is the stepmother and prince. Oh! This film looks spectacular!!!
I must admit, I prefer the original trailer's focus on the original story and the magic, but this film looks so good with how it goes beyond that, too!
Cate Blanchett's face in the scene where Cinderella talks to her in the attic is just...wow! Even though we saw that in the preview before this trailer. But I had to mention it!
This film looks like a wonderful dream come true!

Are they going to cover "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" or any other Cinderella song for this film?

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
So Cinderella is going to be this era Pocahontas by preserving the animals? All she forgot was to sing "Colors of the Wind", hahaha.
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Oops haha, the second I meant….I thought they dropped that idea when they announced Kenneth Branagh as director.tsom wrote:Which spoiler are you referring to? If it's Lady Tremaine breaking the glass slipper, then that one is unavoidable because it has been shown in the TV commercials advertising the film. If it's the Grand Duke plotting with the stepmother, then that one isn't a spoiler either because its been stated for two years now that the Grand Duke would be a villain.
The new trailer is beautiful(although I hate that they used a CGI deer, when deers are not that hard to find to put on film)….My blood - Ellie Goulding fits perfectly with Cinderella for some reason….
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Just came back from an advanced screening of Cinderella at Walt Disney Studios. Yes, I saw it, and inside the Disney lot!!! All I'll say is that it's fun, lovely and magical, but it wasn't perfect. One reason why it wasn't perfect was because (this really isn't a spoiler of the plot but more a spoiler of the film itself) there were scenes and dialogue from the novelizations and the first full trailer that did not make it into the final cut of the film. Let's just say I expect a few deleted scenes in the eventual Blu Ray/DVD releases. A couple of highlights were the dress transformation scene and the "everything turning back into the way it was at midnight" scene, among other highlights. I'll save my full thoughts for after the film is released. The theater clapped during a few moments in the film and also at the end. The kids that attended seemed to love it as well. I'm certain it will be successful. I'm hoping to see it again on opening weekend in IMAX! Oh, and stay for the entire end credits!

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
You're so lucky! Well, I'm not expecting a perfect film, but would you rate it from 1 to 10? And could you tell us a little about the performances, please? And I know this is probably unfair to ask, but how does it stand against 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Oz, the Great and Powerful' and 'Maleficent'?
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Yeah, I'm so grateful to have seen it. Throughout the film, I kept thinking, "Omg, I'm actually watching this! I've waited 5 years for this film and here I am watching it!"
To answer your questions:
1. I wasn't watching the film to be critical. I was watching to enjoy. I will definitely see it again and again in a month. However, if I were to rate the film, I would say it's above a 7 but below a 10. It was good, but if I were making it, there are some things I would've changed.
2. The performances were good! Richard Madden and Lily James had great chemistry. Kit was charming, and perhaps my favorite prince in any Cinderella movie. Lily was a dream as Ella. Her take on the character was like Giselle in Enchanted -- young, kind, innocent, etc. Cate Blanchett was LOVING this role. You could tell she enjoyed playing the wicked stepmother. Helena Bonham Carter was loving her role too. The captain, Grand Duke, king, etc were all good. The only one I was kind of disappointed in was Ella's father, but it was just in a couple of scenes. He wasn't bad, but during those two scenes, I kept thinking "Ummm, this is not how I would've acted these scenes or delivered those lines."
3. In relation to the films you mentioned:
-I only saw Alice in Wonderland once, and I don't remember most of it. All I remember is I was very impressed with the sets, costumes and effects in that film, and Cinderella was equally as good in those aspects. The dress transformation scene received an applause (I would pay money just to see that shot of the dress transforming again), and the audience enjoyed the midnight transformation scene. It was impressive.
-I didn't see Oz, the Great and Powerful
-I think Cinderella was better than Maleficent. My problem with Maleficent was that it strayed so far from Sleeping Beauty, but Cinderella stayed true to the source but just expanded the plot, characterizations, and motives. There were also quite a few nods to the animated film.

Thanks! And would you like to see a sequel inspired by 'Twice Charmed' and by 'Cinderella: A Twist in Time'?

A sequel based on those entities would be really interesting to see in live-action with the exact same cast, but I liked how it ended.Old Fish Tale wrote:Thanks! And would you like to see a sequel inspired by 'Twice Charmed' and by 'Cinderella: A Twist in Time'?
Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
It turns out that a lot of scenes and dialogue from the first full-length trailer and from the two novelizations were not included in the final cut. Having read what was cut from the film, I can't deny that I'm slightly disappointed. I'm starting a petition for Walt Disney Studios to release those deleted scenes on the home media release. I genuinely hope that some of you will be on board with the petition. I know it sounds obnoxious and unnecessary, but those scenes are vitally important to the storyline. I shall post more information soon. Thanks!

Re: Disney's Live-Action Cinderella (2015)
Tsom, OMG!!!! I'm so glad you got to see it, and so enjoyed it, and thought so well of it! I am especially happy with what you said of the transformation scene! It is my favorite scene of the original, or of like, anything ever, of course, ha ha!
Flanger-Hanger, thank you for showing us those clips! Each one was great, and I am soooooo happy about Lily and Helena's acting! Helena is like the original's endearingly scatterbrained Fairy Godmother, and Lily really is like the my gracious, beloved Disney princess, the original Cinderella!
The only thing is I was hoping we'd see the Fairy Godmother magically disappear as the coach road off, similar to how she did in the original animated film.
I am soooooo happy and excited to see this film!!!!!
jPod, after the movie comes out and I have read the two novelizations, I may sign your petition!

I felt like a little girl, watching those clips. But, the Prince seemed a little lifeless in the first one.
