I really can't wait to see the rest of the characters, I guess Naven's frog form appeals alot to me along with the Trumpet playin Gator (can't remember his name)

How many Disney-villains songs actually do fall under that category (sing about how "evil" they are)? I think you can count them on one finger, if any? What about Scar, Governor Ratcliff and Jafar? They sing about what they want, and I think that is not without purpose. They want power, they want riches. That's why they do evil and that's pretty close to realism.Disney's Divinity wrote:I don't think he was talking about villains singing in general, just about how they sing about how "evil" they are. Most people think that takes away from a villain, that they do evil just to be evil (not very realistic at all). I haven't listed to TP&TF's villain song, so I can't comment. Just that I don't think "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Hellfire" or "Trust In Me" fall under that category. "Gaston" and Madame Mim's song seem more like something he would criticize, though I think both had their purposes.

Well, I wasn't trying to validate his opinion because I agree that it's overly critical (and seems more anti-Disney or anti-modern than sensical, sometimes). Sometimes I tend to confuse Disney and general animation, because it's true that Disney rarely has those moments, but most other animated films have villains that sing about how evil they are. So I agree that I hate villains who are presented as evil incarnate or laugh about how evil they are, just that it doesn't actually happen very often with Disney.BelleGirl wrote:

I thought the limited release was in late November. BTW, the gator's name is Louis.Mason_Ireton wrote:Just thought I share a sample of the new Princess/Frog pins they'll arrive in Oct. (for the limited release) and mostly we'll see more in Dec.

I wouldn't call Mr. Barrier an idiot; after all, he has written some very detailed books on animation. And let's face it: any guy who has done his utmost to promote Carl Barks's career in various ways such as writing critical essays of Barks's stories and who is even included in one of Barks's most iconic paintings (see the guy with the moustache on the left) can't be that bad, right?PatrickvD wrote:what an idiot. I'd never even heard of him, but looking at the photo he posted of himself on his website, he seems to love his own opinion more than animation.
The biggest reason I am willing to trust Mr. Beck is because he also gave GREAT reviews to Kung Fu Panda, a film that at the time everyone thought was going to yet another Dreamworks movie but turned out to be something very, very special.Julian Carter wrote:Jerry Beck loves the first 1/3 of the film!
Take that Mr. Barrier!![]()

This is actually going to be the first time that Newman's music will suit the location and style of the film. His scores really annoy me with how repetitive they are.Marky_198 wrote:
I'm not too fond of Randy Newman's music, but I think this film can get away with it, because of the style. I just can't help but wonder what it would have been like with an even better composer.
But i can't wait for this release.

I'm going alone. I doubt I'll find someone to accompany me. It's okay though, I go to the movies all the time alone, even the animated ones.
