I'm wondering if maybe the Blu-ray will have a lenticular slipcover that changes from the peddlar woman to Snow White. That's the only logical explanation I can think of for switching both characters' places on the cover for the worse. Hopefully the actual BD case itself will feature Snow White prominently.
As for the DVD cover, I like it, but I have to admit I prefer the BD cover. I love the concept behind the DVD one, but the execution isn't as good as it could be. The reflections of the Prince and the dwarfs look cheap, and the logo is so small that it leaves too much empty space. If the logo were shifted down with the Queen above it, I may prefer it over the BD cover since I like the darker color scheme they chose.

I'm fully "with" JDCB1986 on this issue!!! This Cover Art is totally excrable as Tennis player John Macenroe used to say " You cannot be serious!!JDCB1986 wrote:
For me the biggest problem with this "new" cover art isn't that nearly every character is horribly off model, or that it is beyond cluttered, but that now both the prince and most of the dwarfs are looking at the old hag as if she is the object of their affection.
They need to restart.
This version of it is beyond appalling , it's now way too crowded , I wonder if they do this to stop piracy , ( so that the pirate produce a copy of this cover art , and when the DVD finally comes out and it's nothing like this ( ? ) - now it looks like something some cheap outfit in Taiwan has produced TOTALLY AWFUL!!
In the trailer on Pinocchio , the focus is "sparkle"- the jewels from the Dwarfs Mine twinkle and sparkle behind all the crisp silver * text , and the contrast between the beautiful crisp transfer and this cheap tawdry cover art is immense!
* I thought perhaps that Disney would use the same colour for the title on the Blu Ray DVD!

Er no I don't think that Disney is trying to push people AWAY from Blu Ray rather the reverse ( !!! ) , but I know what you mean the latest cover with the awful Witch * image SUCKS bigtime!seanjonmc wrote:
I love the DVD cover! It's the classy, adult cover I've been waiting for.
The Blu-ray cover is terrible, the worst I've seen in years. Is Disney trying to push people away from Blu-ray?
* I love the Witch but this image is way , way off model - and so is that awful Wicked queen image too!

I think the DVD cover is almost WORSE than the Blu-ray cover. That enormous and horrible computer generated apple with the Snow White clip art poorly pasted on top and the skewed prince and dwarfs in the apples reflection... It looks like fan art... and poor fan art at that.
And I've never seen an apple that doubles as a fun mirror.
And actually... regarding the Blu-ray cover...
I am wondering if the gigantic witch in the middle cover was made before this one:
But it wasn't meant to be released, so they replaced it quickly with the older version.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't care. That argument you put forth has been played many-a-time and yet people still debate and criticise dvd and blu-ray covers. It just goes to show that people don't care for that argument.
Covers are what drag in people's attention for items. If a cover is poorly designed, unappealing to ones eyes or is simply a mess, people won't be attracted to it. Think objectively Neal. You are buying it for sure. Thus whether or not the DVD/BD packaging appeals to you makes no difference. However, it's a different scenario for everyone else. Most people have never seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and this may very well be the first impression of the actual film (as opposed to the disney princess). If the cover does not portray the films actual content, then chances are people who haven't seen the film or who don't intend to buy it regardless, will probably get a wrong, potentionally negative impression of it.
I'm fine with you saying that you don't care, but instead it seems as if your looking down at anyone who does care.

Wow, you jumped to conclusions! I didn't say anything along the lines of 'everyone is stupid for caring about covers' - that'd be looking down.
I just don't see why it should matter to us.
To soccer mom Jane Doe, who is busy and doesn't know or care what these movies contain as long as her kids like them - then yes, it should matter. She won't buy a movie that doesn't look kid-friendly.
But we, the avid Disney fans, know exactly what these movies contain and therefore have no reason to be judging a movie by its cover. We should just be happy to have a cleaned up version of one of our favorite movies.

No we shouldn't. We want our movies to get what they deserve. They deserve, especially Snow White, to be sat up on a pedestal and be awed over. This is the movie that started it all, that has cover art that looks like it is for some cheap sequel of a cheap sequel. This movie, along with all the Platinums and personally I think all Disney animated films, deserve beautiful, classy cover art that represents the movie for what it is, with on-model characters. It's like sticking a diamond in a cardboard box. The box doesn't represent what's inside at all. Sure we know what is inside but what makes us look at the box and pick it up in the first place to see what's inside. Nothing. It's ugly.Neal wrote:Wow, you jumped to conclusions!
