To be fair I don't understand this Australia only thing. It seems dumb not to release it in America where there's more people, more fans and thus more money. Plus why Aussie and not England or something ? No offence to any Aus members or readers here, it just seems strange and even stranger from a business POV.

Though being a gamer I know that quite alot of games from Japan don't get released in Australia so from a gamer's POV I don't feel jealous or envious or sorry for the USA about them getting Mermaid 3D at all. I know that this isn't about games, but I feel like USA does get everything usually and it's nice to see another place get something.

Jeez, be glad you get it in 3D at all unlike other territories. When it comes to Disney, the US gets most of the time the better releases (Peter Pan anyone?). So this is one of the few occasions, in which another region gets the special treatment and you act like a spoiled brat, because you only see what you WON'T get.
Maybe you would think different, when you would concentrate on all the stuff you get that others don't and would appreciate them a little more. It's also pretty childish and disrespectful to Australians, to call their country "stupid" as if it were their fault Disney decided to cancel the cinema re-release in the US. Think about it.

Disney Australia doesn't treat us very well when it comes to home releases, but they sure make up for it with theatrical re-releases.

Peter Pan is also returning to cinemas here in June, before TLM 3D. We just finished a Princess movie festival run, which included Aladdin, Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Mulan, Cinderella and Pocahontas. And before that we had Bambi, Aristocats, The Fox and the Hound, Lady and the Tramp and Dumbo. Pretty fun!

That is so awesome! Here, in Romania, Disney movies don't get theatrical re-releases. There was a rumor that Beauty and the Beast would have a 3D theatrical release, but that didn't happen. At least, we do get Disney DVDs and Blu-rays.

Lol and I was surprised they used for the first time in three years the German songs for one of their trailers. So, the only reason they did is because they used old footage and were just too lazy to sync the German dub to the actual Diamond Edition trailer. What a company. rotfl

I just hope WDSHE will adjust its focus again. It's hilarious when you think about it, but their recent releases are at the same level as their first bunch of "Limited Issues" DVDs- except for the Diamond Editions, though even these are nothing in comparison to the earlier releases or even 'Alice in Wonderland'.

It's a shame the songs were the new versions though, so it seems like Disney is still focusing on the new dub, but is putting the old dub there to shut the fans of that version up.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

It's strange, I just found that there won't be a theatrical re-re-release (yeah, remember 1997's re-release? The time when Disney wanted to compete with Don Bluth's Anastasia. What they do? Re-release The Little Mermaid in theaters and steal Bluth's profit! Muhahaha! ... I call coincidence on that, though. If you consider that The Little Mermaid was released in 1989 around the same time as All Dogs Go To Heaven, during the time that Bluth was doing better than Disney before '89. ...anyway, back to topic.) of this in 3D... that was first stated 3 months ago. (where the hell have I been.) I wasn't planning to see this in theaters, but damn... that's inconsistent with 2 of the big 4 that was in theaters. Glad that I'll see this in 1080p, but boy, was that harsh.
This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

This D23 picture is pretty nice.... not perfect, but she is pretty on-model.
But Flounder is recycled from the original VHS cover!

Honestly, it cannot be at all difficult to work in the Disney marketing department, just a constant loop of cutting and pasting from any old place. I mean honestly, using a piece of clipart almost 25 years old ?!

I think it would do the marketing good if they only use 25 years old material. At least that had some kind of class that represents the actual film.

That's not really my point; the fact they have to resort to using old artwork just proves what a state the marketing team is in. They are freekin Disney for goodness sake, if they don't have the talent to create decent marketing material, who can ?!

And yes, all of the 90's posters for their Classics are outstanding, no question. But as the company has evolved, so should the ability to create amazing home release material. Though yes, I am a fan of the cleaned up Diamond Edition cover (but that came as a genuine surprise, as I really was expecting something truly messy like the Cinderella cover).

They've been doing this forever and I'm sure other studios are doing the same thing as well. Sometimes there is only so much you can do with one movie and usually creating posters and deciding what suits the movie best happens when you first market it or after a substantial amount of time has passed. Generally I have no problem with using old art in new compositions, what bothers me is using the exact same cover, especially when it is atrocious.
