It's the transfer of the Platinum Edition.

Just pitiful what Disney has done with Hercules on BR.

Such a long waited release for such a great Classic and, just like Hunchback, the same miserable "extras" as the DVD.

...at least the menus are animated.

Thankfully I got it today for free. There´s this store in Spain that´s having a 2X1 on BR. So, I bought The Jungle Book and got Hercules for free; the exact price anyone should pay for this BR. :

Disney should be ashamed of themselves...

...if you check the Top BR sales for that store in the promotion are: Hercules, Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone; all basically (not to say exactly) the same DVD releases "upgraded" to BR.

Don´t know how can they feel proud that people are buying these horrible releases with the Disney brand on them.

Are you just complaining about the extras?

Because I could care less for extras. How is the audio and video transfer? If they are decent, that is all that matters.

Yes. I complain about the extras for several reasons:

1. Hercules and Hunchback are 2 very popular movies that never got a proper DVD while others got several releases.

2. If they were going to sell just the movie...fine. As long as they charge accordingly for it. But they expect to sell the movie at a full retail price.

I remember last year, the first titles for 2013 (besides the Diamond Editions) were announced in December (these were Hunchback/Mulan/Brother Bear which came out in March) so hopefully next month we'll have a clue on next Spring's releases. Fingers crossed for Hercules

Hopefully we'll get some news soon about 2014's releases.

Fingers crossed for "Hecules", "Tarzan", "101 Dalmatians", & "The Black Cauldron".

If these 4 films are released on blu then only the 6 package films and "Aladdin" will be left.

I really hope they save "Aladdin" for a 3D platinum Blu-ray release in 2015.

And here´s hoping Disney releases:

Treasure Planet, The Great Mouse Detective, The Emperor´s New Groove, Oliver and Company, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Atlantis, Home on the Range and Winnie Pooh on BR in Europe.

The one that´s very odd is Winnie Pooh since it wasn´t released on BR but only on DVD.

Wao! Thank you so much!

Especially for Atlantis since in Europe we got the fullscreen DVD.

So, they plan on releasing Winnie Pooh on BR as well?

At least in Germany they released also the 2 disc deluxe edition with the film in its original aspect ratio.

Disney Norge didn't announce all of the films you mentioned. The Pooh films are already available in Scandinavian countries and The Great Mouse Detective wasn't announced either. When I looked up the facebook post I was surprised, that they announced therefor some movies which are already available for a long time in other European countries (101 Dalmatians, The Fox and the Hound and The Rescuers Down Under). So it seems that there are some differences between the release schedule of Disney in Scandinavian countries and the rest of Europe. I just hope the Pooh films won't be another "Make Mine Music" all over again.

Ok, thanks!

Today I watched Hercules.

Yes, the picture quality has been restored...the least they could do. However, I don´t think the restoration is better than Jungle Book. The image in JB is just pristine and the colors vibrant. Hercules just looks clean.

I just bought Hercules on Blu. I haven't watched it yet, but I've skimmed through it, watched clips, and ... I'm unimpressed. There isn't much wrong with the picture, and I think most people will consider it a stellar disc, but I felt there was something distinctly off about it. At first I thought it was a lack of brightness in the transfer, but it wasn't the case. I feel it has more to do with the line-art, which, even on my 50" plasma display, looked kind of indistinct and not-well resolved. I think aliasing is to blame. If so, it's incredible that so minor an imperfection as aliasing can so efficiently rid an otherwise clean, stable and sharp image of all its lustre. I find this especially annoying as fans of the film have been waiting around 15 years for a decent optical disc release of the film (the previous DVD release doesn't count - it was a non-anamorphic, smudged, pixelated mess). And films like Hercules, created entirely within the computer, are known to be easy to transfer to Blu-ray. Similarly, the Blu-ray release of Home on the Range was a travesty.

Maybe Lnds500 can weigh in with his own opinion if he's watched this release. I'd love to know.
