Being a princess is like a drug at Disney. I wonder how many of the people there are secret stalkers of Kate Middleton.
Also NO to the future films having princesses. More of that whore-ish line, no Disney? That's why I'm hoping the next princess films flop while Big Hero 6 brings Lion King numbers to the box office.

I think a lot of what will dictate what they do with this film depends on how well Frozen performs. If Frozen is a hit, expect Moana to be styled as the next princess movie. If it flops it will probably get more of an action comedy bent with more male protagonists.
and whether its as princess film or not, I dont expect "Moana" will be the finale title. It will probably be something like 'Tiki Time" or just "Tiki!"(yes, with the exclamation point.)

Yeah, I was just thinking that: What will happen with the title? Because if they don't have the guts to even call a male-bended fairytale by its original name, there is no way they'll keep the name Moana.
Going to be the recent trend of one-word adjectives, I would place my bet on "Tropical" They could even do a cross-promotion with Tropicana Orange Juice, if Disney feels so inclined.

I'm looking forward to this one. I'd also heard it was being done in paperman 2d-cgi hybrid. Can't remember where though.
I'd definitely prefer that to another cgi. The cgi films just seem to have less character than the 2d films, not that I totally dislike cgi. Always felt Disney were trying too hard to compete with the success of the Shrek films. However I realise I am bias as I grew up in the 90's Renaissance so hand-drawn has a lovely nostalgia to it. Aladdin is my favourite Disney Film so any Musker and Clements project gets my thumbs up.
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.
I suggest you people seriously lower your expectations because Musker and Clements have confirmed that the chances of Moana looking like Paperman are extremely slim, as the technology is far from perfect.
I'm sure that on reading this sotiris will back it up with the official quote, which I'm too lazy to do.

Coming in 2018 is Disney’s next fairy tale mythology animated feature film, set amongst the South Pacific islands, rendered in a ‘painterly-style CGI’ (think the Paperman short): and y’all are going to LOVE IT:
The main character will be Moana Waialiki, a sea voyaging enthusiast, and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her family needs her help, she sets off on an epic journey. The film will also include demi-gods and spirits taken from real mythology.
