The final two Kettle films are available as manufacture-on-demand DVD-R's from Turner Classic Movies' "TCM Vault Collection". So it hasn't been "released" in the traditional sense to stores, but can still be acquired. :)

The Further Adventures of the Kettles: Double Feature (currently $19.99)

Sabrina 1954 The classic movie with Audrey Hepburn, Humpry Bogard and William Holden.
This movie isn't a classic for nothing. it's very engaging and funny. Especially Humpry Bogard as Linus interacting with his brother David. But every actor is marvellous.
Warning: never put champagne glasses or anything else breakable in the back pockets of your trousers!

Lone Star

Talk about boring. My professor did say that we probably wouldn't like it, but I didn't know it was going to be so boring. The story didn't seem to go anywhere and the climax was just as boring as can be. Have I said it was boring yet, cause it is. The only actor I was glad to see was Tony Plana (yeah, Papi from Ugly Betty); I wish he would've been in the film more. Overall, this was a dud and the worst of the films noir we've watched.

Finishing up this round of Ernest films, I watched Ernest goes to Africa, and Ernest in the Army.

Next was Be Kind Rewind, which was pretty good. After the video tapes get erased, a video store clerk and his buddy reshoot the films on a zero budget. Part wacky Jack Black comedy, part bittersweet tale of a crumbling neighborhood, this blended the two pretty well.

I've got Disney's The North Avenue Irregulars lined up next.

This may well be the best of the Nazi-zombie movies (sure as hell is a damn sight better than Dead Snow), but after the first 20 minutes, the best thing this has to offer is Fred Buch showing off his body in tight, short green shorts, lifting up his shirt, and sauntering around in his underwear. The "they created the ultimate soldier" backstory is boring, the death scenes couldn't be more dull, the acting is godawful, the story is nonexistent, and though the makeup is okay and the music score is very good, there is absolutely zero fear or tension throughout. See Frogs instead. Good underwater photography though. And the sunspot scene is incredible.

I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas for the first time in a while yesterday morning. It was one of my favorite movies as a child, and I really enjoyed watching it yesterday. :)

Black Swan in the cinema this afternoon.

This movie was really intense. Often I did not know whether Nina was having a delusion or that something real was happening. (funny thing is an add for the dvd of this movie is popping up as I'm writing this). What's so good about this story about a ballerine who becomes obsessed with dancing the role of black swan in Swan Lake perfectly is that you get so deep into her mind that you almost go along with her paranoia. As if her mother is really oppressing her and her understudy Lily conniving to take her place.

No wonder Natalie Portman won the oscar for best actress in a leading role.

Shrek (2001)- 9/10
Not perfect by any means, but on the same level as Cars to me. Some of the crude humor could be done without, but this is still a fresh, inventive, and genuinely fun romp. Of course 2 and 3 had to ruin it, while I found 4 slightly bearable, but nowhere near the genius of the first. I get more of the jokes now, and even though it pokes fun at Disney, I love it. However, I still don't get how it won the Oscar over Monsters Inc., but whatever. That doesn't detract from my enjoyment of either film.

Last night, I watched the entire movie Frankenstein (1931 version) on Youtube. It was okay. I wouldn't say it's my favorite horror film, though.

That was an edited version you watched. You should really try to find a rental store, kiosk or on-line place you can watch the fully restored unedtied version of this classic film. It is far superior to any that have followed it.

I know! We sighed in relief when the movie was over and we sat in our chairs for a couple of minutes before being able to get up. We were emotionally exhausted by it.

Watched The Tourist on Blu-ray today. It stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie and is a very confusing movie. I borrowed this from a friend because I missed it in the cinema, and now I am glad that I didn't waste the $5 for it. The first 20 minutes are very intense, and then it just falls apart from there and becomes very boring and predictable. Depp is an amazing actor and why he chose this film I will never know (except he probably wanted the extra $20 mil he gets for each movie). Can't recommend this movie at all.

You're talking to me, right?

What makes you think that I watched an edited version?

Note to Cheshire Cat:

Because the version on YouTube is the edited version of the movie. The only way to see the complete version of "Frankenstein" (1931) is to watch the "Frankenstein Legacy Collection" from Universal, which contains the totally and fully restored version of "Frankenstein".

I have watched the YouTube version and there is no comparison.

In the Army Now - A Pauly Shore vehicle. It was fun, but silly. Encino Man and Bio-Dome are way at the top of the list, I haven't seen Son in Law for a while, but I think it was decent. In the Army Now and Jury Duty are both rewatchable if you like stupid comedies and Pauly Shore.

The Comebacks - a parody of the various underdog sports films, Again, this was fun but silly.

Superstar - Molly Shannon brings her SNL "Mary Katherine Gallagher" character to the big screen.

Chairman of the Board - Carrot Top stars as a wacky inventor who inherits a Fortune 500 gadget company from a fellow inventor.

The Rescuers

How charming is this film? I haven't seen it in ages, but I have to say that it is definitely quite wonderful. Is it Disney's best? No, but it's charming nonetheless. Hopefully Disney will return to this film, give it a restoration and release it again for more people to enjoy.

@ TheSequelOfDisney: obviously, I completely agree!

Some like it hot (1959)

I've finally been able to see this classic! Very entertaining way to spend two hours. At first, I had my doubts about it. I thought to myself: "it's about two guys who are in drag for the entire movie, how funny can that be?" Well, the answer is: very, very funny! It has all the right jokes, but most of all the right actors for the job, Tony Curtis and most of all, Jack Lemmon. Marilyn is okay as the girl Joe is after, but she's basically 'playing' the same type of character she did in The Seven Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Doesn't matter, she's at her best here, much more so than in the two aforementioned films. In the category "they don't make 'em like this anymore", this is one of the best.

Fantasia (1940)- 9.5/10
Simply breathtaking. A combination of my two favorite things: classical music and Disney. The animation is to die for, the narrations are informative, and the overall feel of the film is fantastic. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one of my favorite Disney classics. It's not perfect, because the longest sequence, the Rite of Spring, was the boringest to me. It just dragged on and on, nothing exciting really happened. It was just dots moving across the screen to make dinosaurs who eat food (and kill others) to keep walking for miles while collapsing. All in 30 minutes. I feel like they could've done something more creative. Anyways, I'm proud to call Fantasia one of the finest DAC's ever made.

Fantasia 2000 (1999/2000)- 9/10
It holds a candle to the original, capturing the spirit. However, it was not nearly as in-depth and concert-like because it was far too short. The animation was again beautiful, and the music choice is fantastic. My personal favorite is Pomp and Circumstance, but the masterful Rhapsody in Blue is a close second. It would be perfect if it wasn't so darn short!

Black Swan

This finally came in from Amazon and I just had to watch it again. It's still my favorite 2010 film and it's just simply amazing. Natalie Portman deserved her Oscar win and the film as a whole is just superb. I could watch this again and again and still be intrigued.
