Okay, I saw the post comparing screenshots between the Diamond/Signature Edition Blu-ray to the 4K version and I was floored at how good the 4K looked. My digital copy had kept the 2005/2012/2019 transfer for some ridiculous reason (it’s a digital copy I got with the DE Blu-ray back in 2012), so I basically thought “Screw it!” and bought the 4K digital copy as soon as it was available on iTunes. My initial plan was to try and sign up for DMC just for the sake of getting the physical copy, but I couldn’t sign up for it and I don’t know why.
Anyways, I didn’t watch the whole thing, just the beginning and the dress spoiling onward. My goodness, I don’t think the film has looked this amazing in… I can’t remember when!
I bought the movie on eBay. I don't love that many Disney movies to join the Disney Movie Club. I can't wait till it arrives! Then I will confirm if the new transfer is on the Blu-ray and DVD.
I’m waiting with bated breath to check off the yes box on my DMC card should the 4K restoration be on the Blu-ray or DVD too.
Can’t wait for you guys to let us without 4K players know!

Wait... Umbrellafish!!! Do you already have the set?
Did you check the dvd and (regular) blu ray transfers???
Hi Marce82, no I haven’t checked it out and to be honest I’m a bit reticent to do so and share my thoughts because I’m not an expert! I don’t want to be wrong and someone make a purchase decision based on what I share. Hopefully someone from this site or another one will be able to take screencaps and post them online so you can judge for yourself— I don’t have that capability.
I get that... but we are all super eager to know if the blu ray and dvd have the new transfer
! If you take a picture (with your phone!) of the shot of Cinderella going back for her glass slipper on the palace staircase, I/we'll be able to tell which transfer it is...
So, great news: our friend here UmbrellaFish was kind enough to share some pictures of both the blu ray and dvds included with the 4K release... and they ARE THE NEW TRANSFER!!!! Yaaaaaaay!
I'm not sure if I will get the set now (via ebay), or wait for a wide release... I'm not joining DMC...
Yes, Disney, thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this Cinderella restoration. I know it was outsourced in Japan, but you still had them do it without bastardizing it under your watchful eye. You just let them do a faithful transfer, and for that, Disney, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made a dream come true!
Aww, Toky. Well, a wide release of the Blu-ray is said to happen in August (a steelbook release) and October (regular release)...
I watched the Blu-ray with the newly restored transfer, and boy is it great. It is a little brighter than the 4K, and I actually like that it's bright but not as artifically bright as the 2005 transfer. And Cinderella's hair was even a little orange sometimes! Wonderful! And it kept all the detail! Miraculous! The only thing was it looked like there was missing pink light when Cinderella and the Prince start to dance, and the same in the beginning of "So This is Love". Anyone else feel this way?
Okay, I just checked with my sources and apparently it's an original mistake in the film that was fixed in the DVD and Blu-ray (maybe in the VHS and laserdisc as well).

Ahhh okay. That’s good to know! It’s a really great restoration so I am glad to know this was intentional.
