This cover is hideous.

Mermaid is my favorite. :) I'm beyond excited for this release. It was actually the first DVD I purchased back in 2006 that started my whole collection. I pre-ordered the #D set and the 2D set with the digital copy.. and I'd love a 3 movie collection. I don't normally purchase multiples of the same release, but I'm thinking this is the last time I'll be able to buy Mermaid in physical form. Fun fact: I have concept art of Ariel tattooed on my feet.

Two things:

a) Th 3D cover is pretty good... not perfect, but a lot nicer (and classier) than most current Disney releases... The 2D cover needs a lot of work if you asked me... layout, anatomy, characters not on-model...

b) The "Howard's lecture" thing... there is a special feature called the same in the "Waking Sleeping Beauty" dvd, which is unedited video of howard ashman addressing the animators during the making of little mermaid (its about 10 mins long). I wonder if its the same?

Did anyone notice that on Amazon it says the 3D Combo pack is only a 3 Disc set?

Does anyone think that might be incorrect?

The press release says it's a 3 disc set so no.

So that means

1) Disney has grown up and realized they don't need a waste for the Digital Copy
2) the Music is an mp3 download code. No physical CD kiddos!
January 6, 2009 - Met Stephen Schwartz
September 4, 2009 - Met Tom Hulce
September 18, 2009 - Met Miley Cyrus
August 3, 2011 - Met John Musker

Interesting. It's a pretty tattoo.

I have thought about getting a TLM tattoo myself before, but I've never been sure about what picture and where. I wonder if anyone else on the forum has Disney-related tattoos.

Ah yes, the one release every Disney fan has been looking forward to ever since the dawn of Blu-ray... funny that the platinum edition of this title was release on the first year of the new format... and thus we would have to wait 7 years later.
My bits:
1) Would be newly remastered due to the 3D conversion (so far, 2D live-action films, for example, were newly remastered for the 3D mastering) so I'm sure it'll make the 2006 DVD look pale by comparison (the restoration on that wasn't strong to begin with.)
2) Not seeing this in 3D because... why bother? Grew up seeing this in 2D, never thought of seeing this in 3D, and am not interested. Next bit...
3) Cover Art: ... didn't think it'd look worse than the 2006 release. (my opinion.) But that's not gonna stop me from buying this! I'm buying for the film in newly-created HD!
4) My guess is that most of the bonus features from the 2006 release would be under the "Classic Bonus features" (most in SD no doubt due to source limitations), so the Little Matchgirl might be included... either in SD or HD, depending on how committed Disney is when it comes to this type of bonus features (they didn't turn down on the Roger Rabbit shorts in the new Blu-ray, so there might be some hope.)

The anticipation I have for this is ridiculous. I'm constantly counting the days till October 1 it's just crazy. I'm trying to imagine how some of the scenes would look in HD and it makes me happy lol

Yeah, 5 and a half months of waiting... to see this in high-def... oh boy.

Well, better get cracking on watching films that I wanted to see to keep me patient.

Oh, boy!!! I, too am very excited about this! I'm going to buy both the original and the sequels, if they will have Blu-ray releases. This is the only Disney trilogy in which I like all 3 movies (actually, there's also Aladdin :D ). I just can't wait to see Part of Your World, the Final Battle, Under the Sea, all in magnificent HD!!!!

Exactly! Some scenes are going to look so stellar... I'm glad they went through with the 3D cause that means a whole new restoration. 8)

Let's just hope they don't mess up any scenes because of it like The Lion King's missing clouds.
