Disney sends them that way.

But when did Disney start doing this?

I don't have either of the original Tarzan releases, so I bought the "Special Edition" (ha) during its first week out in October.

I have the disc, in slipcover, right next to me now. It has a slipcover, but it's just like all the other slipcovers before it that slip and cover; it doesn't open like a book, it's not holographic or embrossed or lenecular or anything. But it does NOT have the cutout spot for the UPC either; it has another UPC on the slipcover itself.

I remember being surprised Disney switched to the cutout kind when I got Toy Story 2 because the only cutout slipcover previous to that one which I had seen was on Warner's release of King Kong.

I can't speak to ENG's ripofff edition since I don't have that, and for all I know there may well be Tarzans with cutouts elsewhere, but mine doesn't have one.

Best Buy; I got it at the same time as I got Batman Begins with their exclusive lenecular cover.

But that was just my local Best Buy with the shipment that they happened to get in.

Doesn't guarentee anything. And honestly, I don't know why I even maintain this thread anymore. I'll do it in the name of keeping annoying duplicate threads down, you know it's getting too crazy when people are complaining about the inclusion of a UPC hole.

What is important here, the movie or the slipcover? Yeah, they're cool when Disney does something unique with them, but now they're just becoming bland...

I was looking over the list of Disney Movies w/Slipcovers just now. I hated how they used those little glue spots with Bambi. Called them the day Bambi was released because the glue had already worn out, and they were very nice. Sent me out a pair of Velcro Snaps free of charge. Now my copy of Bambi's sitting pretty with all the other Platinum Editions, and it stays shut to!

Might a number of complaints have caused them to use the Velcro Snaps on Cinderella?
Thanks to all that offered to help with my Avatar...Starion, RJKD23 and cj!

Was I the only one that had velcro snaps for my Bambi DVD?

You had velcro? Where did you get it from? Most people including me had the white sticky stuff.

I'm going to double check my Bambi PE when I get home tonight. I don't remember having two glue tabs, and am interested to see if I was lucky enough to get Velcro.

On another topic -- those of you who are fans of slipcovers, where are you able to find them more often (at which stores)? I tend to buy my DVD's on the day they are released at Wal-Mart (for typically the lowest prices, but sometimes comparible to Best Buy). Yet, often times I find their DVD's are lacking slipcovers, yet I wouldn't know this unless I stop at multiple stores.

I don't have slipcovers for my Tarzan II DVD (am going to call the 800-number provided above) or my Batman Begins DVD.

Maybe I should start making Best Buy my first-stop on DVD Tuesday from now on???

It depends on a number of things. Whether or not the place you're ordering from has had many orders for Bambi. It usually is just the first printing, but you never know what the place you're ordering from has.

For instance, I've ordered a bunch from the DMC that originally came w/ slipcovers but I didn't get one because it was long after they were first released. However, I ordered the Lion King in April of 2005 from Overstock.com once it was pretty hard to find b/c it had gone OOP. It even said that they only had 10 left... and it came with a slipcover.

You never know when ordering from somewhere. But again, if you didn't get one and want one, just call the customer service number. It's posted all over these boards and probably in the first post of this thread as well.

I recieved a Bambi slipcover the other day from disney when I called about my cinderella cover not being on my dvd when I ordered it from Disney Movie Club. It seems that I havent been recieving the slipcovers with mine when I order them through the club. So I called the 1800 number you can call and they sent one to me of Bambi :? and I had ask for Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella. But I got Bambi and Cinderella instead lol. So I called back to the 1800 72-disne they finally sent me Cinderella and the Alice in Wonderland. To make it worse my mail carrier put it in my mail box and it bend both covers :x My slip covers have wrinkles on them :x So from now on Im going to ask if they can put do not bend so maybe the mail carrier wont fold them up like she did the last 2 times.

I have them all really neat and most inside the tins of the Treasures. The only one I'm missing is the A Bug's Life CE one. I have the edition with no slipcover. I'll keep looking for it in a video store or Game Stop.

Anyway, do you remember the case for the three BATB? I ordered it on time but forgot to mark DVD and they sent me a letter requesting to mark DVD from VHS and when I did that they sent me letter saying the ran out of it. Does anyone has a photo?

I must say that the Bambi II slipcover is awesome. It's almost my favorite one (that doesn't open like a book). I was impressed.

I can't wait to see the one for Lady and the Tramp!

Also - I did check my Bambi slipcover and it has velcro tabs! Not sure where I bought it, but I bet it was at Wal-Mart in the first week of sales. I must have gotten lucky for once.

Well, Lady and the Tramp: Platinum Edition finally arrived today, and...

Slipcover: Yes
Embossing/holography: No
Opening for UPC: Yes
Opens like a book: No (that's breaking with tradition, isn't it?)
Keepcase: Black with Side Snaps
DVD Insider: Yes, with Ariel on the cover
Me Excited: Yes

And it is plainly labelled a "Platinum Edition" atop both the slipcover and DVD cover. It's also "equipped" with FastPlay.

Awwwwww! I'm bummed. I wanted all of my platinums to be the "same".
