That's great! I hope this also means we're getting a sneak peek at the sequel on Friday.

Do we have an official release date for the sequel? I did some research online, and I only know it will be released next year.

^I think that's all we know for now. Although, Patrick Dempsey said in June he thought it would come out in fall 2022. Maybe they'll announce the official release date on Disney+ Day.

Kevin Lima posted some behind the scenes photos of Enchanted on twitter:

Image
I'm feeling a bit sentimental about #Enchanted, what with it premiering on #DisneyPlusDay. If I'm remembering correctly, this was the very first set up we shot. #Disney

Image
I loved rehearsing Pip's interactions with the actors. When we'd shot, I'd be offscreen talking through Pip's actions, squeaking his dialogue, while the actors imagined he was still in the scene. #Enchanted #DisneyPlusDay #Disney

Photos were taken for marketing needs and I was invited to pose with Giselle, I mean Amy. She looks as shocked as I was surprised. #Enchanted #DisneyPlusDay #Disney

Unfortunately, there was never an Art of Enchanted book published and there was so much beautiful artwork created for the film. #Enchanted #DisneyPlusDay #Disney

It makes me sadder that they didn't want him to direct the sequel.

I agree, farerb. He is such a good director. Now I'm also sad there wasn't an Art of Enchanted book. I love that shot of Amy resting on the pillow with what looks like her dress poofed up behind her.

We were all disappointed he wasn't picked to be the director of the sequel. I always prefer it to have the director of the original film work on all subsequent installments. It's easier to maintain the same level of quality this way. That's especially true for Kevin given his track record, his understanding of animation and his respect for Disney's legacy. Hopefully, the sequel will turn out OK even without his involvement. Amy looks really cute in all of these photos. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Those behind the scenes pics are so cool. :) I wonder if they will release the original on 4K anytime soon.

I'm really disappointed Kevin Lima hasn't directed a movie since Enchanted. Not for lack of trying or offers, either. He just has the bad luck of being attached to projects that the studio decides not to move forward on for various reasons. I remember he was going to direct a movie based on the Candy Land board game with Adam Sandler. Most upsetting was his "Monkeys of Mumbai" animated musical for DreamWorks, which was cancelled after the studio was sold to Universal.

Lima and Brenda Chapman did sign a first look deal with 20th Century Fox, but that was in 2018 and we haven't heard anything since, so I assume Disney ended that deal after acquiring Fox. Honestly, with the successes Lima has directed for Disney, they should absolutely hire him to direct a movie or series for D+. If not Enchanted 2, then certainly something else.

Yeah, an Art of book would have been great. It's a shame the movie didn't get one.

Hopefully, they will. Perhaps around the time the sequel premieres on Disney+.

I agree. I would be much more excited for the sequel and more confident it would be good if he was the director. But, yes, I hope it turns out OK in spite of that. Though, I don't like Adam Shankman as much as him, I usually find his films enjoyable too, and I think he could also do a good job. We'll see.

I didn't know he hadn't directed anything since Enchanted. What a shame he's had such bad luck with his latest projects. I completely agree; Disney should definitely hire him. I wonder why they didn't ask him to direct Disenchanted. I hope it doesn't have anything to do with his wife not ending her relationship with Pixar on too good terms.

Kevin Lima has recorded a director's commentary for the film that will be released soon. Here's a video where he announces it. It doesn't seem it's something official by Disney, but something he has made on his own. I'm really looking forward to hearing/watching it! (I'm not sure what format it will be)

By the way, Enchanted will make its debut on ABC on Thursday, the day before the sequel is released on Disney+.

Thanks for the heads up! It's criminal Disney hasn't released this movie yet on UHD Blu-ray with a new set of bonus features.

Thanks for the information, D82! I saw the announcement on Facebook and it`s nice that it`s finally given an audio commentary. Btw, Aaron Blaise had a similar announcement on his video about the 15th Anniversary of Brother Bear. About making his own Audio Commentary for that movie.

Agreed, but that`s Disney in a nutshell for you: Not upgrading their releases with new bonus features.

Kevin Lima has announced the commentary will drop on YouTube Wednesday, November 16th at 12PM PST.

And it was already quite obvious, but responding to a question in the comments section of his announcement video, he confirmed it's not an official commentary by Disney:
This means a New Blu-ray will come out along with the commentary on Disney Plus?

No, this commentary has no affiliation with Disney. I’m putting this out on my own as an educational entertainment.
