The clip featuring part of the song "The Family Madrigal" is also available on Youtube now:

The video description reveals Olga Merediz is also part of the cast. She's the second actress from
In the Heights to join the movie after Stephanie Beatriz. I wonder who she plays. I think she may just provide the singing voice for Abuela Alma.

I understand you. If I had more willpower, I would try to avoid more spoilers too, because it actually makes a difference in my opinion. The first time you watch a film is quite important. Like they say, "you only get one chance to make a first impression", and I think that's true to movies as well. You never forget the way you felt when you saw certain moments for the first time. And every time you watch the film again, you actually relive those feelings. I think even your opinion of a film can be a bit different if you know what's going to happen beforehand than if you don't. I accidentally spoiled Te Ka's reveal in
Moana for myself, for instance, and I always wonder if the ending would feel stronger to me now if I hadn't known that before. I want to make clear, though, that I'm just speaking from my own experience and that's just my opinion; maybe it's different for other people. On the other hand, I also enjoy discovering new details about the films and trying to guess how the story will go, and like I said, I don't have a strong will, so I do a bit of a mix of both things and try to get the best of both worlds. With each new film, I end up knowing most of what happens in the first act or so, but I try to avoid major spoilers from the rest of the film. Sometimes I achieve it and sometimes I don't. I was quite proud of myself regarding
Raya, for example, as I resisted the temptation to read too much from leaked books and such, and I think it had an effect on my viewing experience, as I was surprised by many events in it.

Oh, OK. Thanks for the info.
unprincess wrote:the house playset has some of the rooms, but I don't think any of those are Cams or his sister's. Its possible they don't even show their rooms in the movie as its so may characters they have to juggle for space. It would make good extra material for future shorts at least.
No, Camilo's and Dolores' rooms haven't been revealed yet. I hope they're shown in the movie, and I think they will, but maybe just briefly and won't be as developed as some of the others. I mean, maybe they just show a small part of their rooms, for example.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, it will probably show up for only a few seconds but that's probably why they felt it was ok to partly reuse a design from an older 2d film.
Maybe you're right, but if it just appears for a brief moment, I personally don't mind it if they copied the design a bit. By the way, I've watched the shot again and something curious I noticed is that the audience in the stadium where Luisa's fighting the three-headed creature are all donkeys.
unprincess wrote:actually I think those two Frozen posters I mentioned were originally foreign posters, though the artwork has since been used on packaging for other stuff here in the US. I guess they feel the US needs kid-friendly repetitious clip art to sell the film while the foreign posters can get by with classier mature artwork.

Yeah, that's usually the case. Japan or France usually get the best posters, while the domestic ones are more commercial and kid-friendly, as you said.

yeah apart from not wanting to know everything I just dont have time to read everything these days. I wish I had more time to spend on this forum and reply to all the threads but real life gets in the way. You and Sotiris do a fantastic job keeping us up to date on everything though, this has become my #1 go to site for Disney news.

Thanks for the compliment.

It means a lot knowing that people benefit from it.

I don't know if that will eventually be the case, but with both Raya and this I feel like the unnecessary characters are mainly for merchandise (you need to buy 12 Madrigal funko pops in order to complete the set) and also to see if they can turn them into a franchise.
Maybe you're right that they add some characters for merchandise reasons, but in this case I like that the family is so big. First, because it's accurate to the setting and time period, but also because it feels quite fresh for a WDAS film. Also, as a member of a large family myself, I usually feel identified with stories like these. I know that with so many characters there's a risk of not enough time for the protagonists or some characters not being developed enough, but I think it's possible too to do it right and achieve a good balance.
