I wish Disney would develop an animated film with art to that level. I know it would take them years but it would be so worth it!

amazing stuff on Princess and the Frog, but what about that website!
finally an official site for the recently re-named Walt Disney ANimation Studios. With an official list of their animated classics, forever ending all confusion about the inclusion of crap like The Wild. They did NOT make that.
nice.

I liked the first picture the best but I liked all of them
.
I agree,PatrickvD,I"m glad that now people will stop thinking that horrible films like The Wild or cheapqules are Disney fully animated classics (Fully because I whould also consider Enchanted,Roger Rabbit,Mary Poppins and more as classics).
And I also hate The Wild,I also don't consider The Wild as a Disney film (And I"m okay with Chicken Little and even Atlantis there).

I like the animation in the trailer, although I think and hope the animation in the actual film will be better, and less -sequel-direct to dvd- like.
I also hope that they are not missing the point of making a Disney classic with true moments, and throwing all this cartoony, jokes in, like they do in all the pixar films.
That's the feeling I get from this trailer.

The Princess and the Frog
I still don't approve of Tiana's entire costume. Her necklace reminds me of Pocahontas', and her crown reminds me of modern costume generic costume jewelry, I dunno. In fact, I also liked the entire old design better. I just don't know.
Didn't really like the trailer, I have to say, I was really skeptical...but now, these previews of art are gorgeous, artful, illustrious, classic.
Yes, that last picture is very, very much like "Cinderella", Mooky! My favorite picture so far...the third one, with Dr. Duvalier! The reds and blues and the lighting and the angle, oh man!
Nicky Bryant, I'm not entirely sure if I agree with you, I mean, Sleeping Beauty had a really high level of art and you know that took a long time, I think the studio has done pretty much what you asked in terms of the level of art you seek. Unless you mean how the concept art often looks cooler and bolder than the final versions of that art in the films, in which case, yes, sometimes I wish the films would match the sometimes cooler, bolder, more beautiful concept art the film is based on. But the film needs to keep a uniform look, and feel like Disney, too.

I notced two of those backgrounds look like their from the same envirnment or scene, so I put together this kind of pointless (and ridiculously short ) clip to feel like Im

Interestingly, they include Dinosaur in the official list. So I guess from now on Dinosaur is part of the canon ... not because BVHM UK says so, but because the official Walt Disney Animation Studios site says so. We can't argue with that.PatrickvD wrote:finally an official site for the recently re-named Walt Disney ANimation Studios. Could it be that The Secret Lab was actually a subsidiary of Walt Disney Feature Animation, and hence the film was still made by WDFA in all fairness.
What makes matters confusing is that Dinosaur places CG animation on live-action backgrounds. If such a film is included in the list, then shouldn't Song of the South, So Dear To My Heart, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Pete's Dragon, and (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) be included too?
Bleh ... if you start thinking of it, you'll never stop.

Interessting trailer and some of the pictures are very beautiful. Let's just hope Tiana's clothes, or at least her tiara, get's a little changed. And I am a little worried about that firefly and the humour in this picture...
I am still dissappointed by the fact that Alan Menken was fired from the job as composer. If Randy Newman's songs for The Princess and the Frog is anything like his forgettable and boring la-la-la-songs from Toy Story, A Bug's Life and Monsters., Inc., then help us all... And if Randy Newman sings his songs HIMSELF, then I really don't know what to do. (I'll have to completely block out the songs I suppose.)
I am really hoping for a return to Disney animation for Alan Menken!

Why was he fired? Menken is the best!Prince Edward wrote:Interessting trailer and some of the pictures are very beautiful. Let's just hope Tiana's clothes, or at least her tiara, get's a little changed. And I am a little worried about that firefly and the humour in this picture...

Menken wasn't fired, I think Lassater (or whoever makes these decisions) wanted to give the fairy tale a new sound, considering Menken's done TLM, Aladdin and B&tB.
However, Randy Newman is a very strange choice to me. I just watched the trailer today (yeah, I know, way behind), and I'm definitely disappointed by his song. I was hoping maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he wrote the songs and someone else sung them. With him doing the music, it just feels so out of place. It feels like a Pixar film. And I don't want it to. If that's a sign of things to come, I doubt this'll be a "golden age." Unless the critic's unfairly praise the Pixar touch.
Also, does anyone else think Tiana's facial expressions and mannerisms are a lot like Mulan? Not that that's a bad thing, considering I like Mulan. And the firefly doesn't bother me, I just don't think the voice fits him that well. As for the animation, I really liked it. Very smooth and definitely not "cartoony." The frog kind of reminds me of Bill Cosby for some reason. I think it's the way he looks at the camera with his "eyebrows" raised.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
I think that newman song is still pretty early, it sounded like a demo to me, which is fine, it means its still being written. they just needed a song to put the trailer to and recorded that bit real quick. I could be wrong though.
as for the mannerisms, Disney uses stock gestures all the time with the characters, so they should all have a familiar feel, for better or worse. I wish Disney would let their animators try new types of gestures but they generally don't.

The Princess and the Frog
I can't believe anyone would ever think of that, Kyle. Brilliant and well-done.
Julian Carter, um, Dinasaur still doesn't have any live beings, so no live movement, and there's definately no live beings with the live backgrounds. It's in a category all it's own...but way way closer to a CGI animated movie. I don't think it should be included, but whatevs.
Prince Edward, yea on Tiana's outfit, yea on the firefly and humour, yea on Randy Newman, all needing to be fixed! Let's see if things get better with all those.
Doesn't ANYONE think the firefly is a big Southern (negative) stereotype?! I feel offended by it's very presence!
