Here is how i would have improved Moana 2: (first draft and last one):

Overview:
- big conflicted fight between Moni and Moana
-Maui losing his powers throughout the majority
of the movie and therefore angry at Moana
-Moni the VILLAIN
-have them Travel for many weeks or months to indicate how complicated, importantย  and far the journey is = finally a reason the grandpa is needed for longlasting food
-Mauis powers are transmittable to others through Nalo
- have actual people being trapped and live in the sunken Island (Atlantis??) (Still able to build a community but live conditions are bad) just to raise the stakes of the mission instead of just being an empty Island...

Script thingy:
Would have been better if they explored Maui having no powers a bit further than 2 minutes. It was bad Timing as Moana was dying that second, but I would have loved to see Maui refusing to help her, knowing that Nalo has the ability to take his powers and then still helping her as shes confident theyre gonna defeat his curse, only for Maui to be striked by him like in the Movie, only during half the movie, not the late climax. Then there would be a big fight off between Maui and Moana, her of course feeling sorry for being the reason he lost his powers but saying they still have to lift Motunui2, but Maui, now a mortal, being more vulnerable and bitter refusing to risk more for her again. They Split the boats or the Kakamora Ship Pick up the Kakamoraguy, with Maui going with them and then the Crew would have something finally to do like to choose to either stay with Moana and complete the Mission or to go home with Maui etc. Moni fanboy ofcourse goes with Maui, for Maui and for his near death experience (maybe we can add a little fight between Moni and Moana, him being traumatized and him regretting to come while Moana says he cant be selfish and make them turn back now that they come so far and have to think about the other people trapped in Sunkenisland, indirectly indicating she would put their lives over Monis which is kinda fair because they are dozen people vs 1. This pisses him so off)ย  .The Grandpa realistically wants to go home too and annoying Girl and Kakamora are the only ones staying with Moana (just to shake things up because she was left alone before in the first Movie when Maui left her). They split and the Kakamora boat gets taken over by Bats that leave them down stranded by Namari, who summens Nalo, who offers Maui to give him his powers, even bigger ones than before if he gets rid of Moana saving the island, knowing what a great wayfinder she is. MAUI goes back and forth, finally accepting Nalos mission, only for him to plan to get his powers to quickly warm Moana. The second he gets them he wants to vent, only for Nalo to strike him again, only playing with him to test his loyalty. His powers are then giving to Moni who wants to achieve Mauis great missions himself (Syndrom anyone), and Nalo being stronger than Maui, Monis respect for him is way bigger than for Maui and wants to earn his loyalty to other gods as a Mythology fanboything, by getting rid of Moana, which isnt something bad for him as he nearly died due to her and him thinking his death wouldnt mean anything to her. The only profit for Nalo would be that Moni does the dirty work while also having a new demigod ally which Maui never was. Now trapped, Maui and the stupid crew are planning their escape, with Tinker Girl building a bomb or something to escape. nowย  Idk how to fill the rest but I guess Moana would question her Position as a voyager as she risked so many lives but idk im not getting payed for a Moana 2 Alternative/3 Script.

Maybe Moni would be the one pulling the island up last Minute helping Moana to make up for the betrayal and dying in the process through betrayed Nalo, and they completed the Mission, Moni dies on Moanas Arms with the good thought of being a hero, and this would lead to a bittersweet Ending with townskids looking up to Moni and making "fanfiction" and Pictures of him honoring him which would be a cool full circle moment. Maui would stay Mortal but would be welcomed in Motunui HAPPY END

Pluspoints for:
-Consequences: Monis death, Maui permanently losing powers,
-emotional situations: Moanas moral gets tested with either putting her and her crew over unknown village, and becoming a wayfinder in the first place

Speaking of the music, why is it that the soundtrack (I'm assuming no score anymore) isn't available to.buy until 1/10/25, while Mufasa's soundtrack is already available?

Q: Is Moana's crew a last minute addition or was it planned all along?

Jared Bush: Always planned.
Source: https://x.com/thejaredbush/status/1867988834962575644
Q: Is it true Maui wasn't in the version of this when it was a show?

Jared Bush: Not true actually, the plan was always for Maui to be in the story - and with his same basic story arc. Some just assumed differently because we didnโ€™t reveal the cast until the movie evolution was made public.
Source: https://x.com/thejaredbush/status/1894658432931656183
Q: Biggest changes from what the show was to what the movie became?

Jared Bush: I think what most people donโ€™t realize is that we are always constantly evolving our stories - that is a unique part of the Disney Animation process - production and development can happen at the same time - animation for us typically happens in the final year.
Source: https://x.com/thejaredbush/status/1867988301006745712
Q: How much of the Moana TV series was done to influence the movie that much? Was it rough animation only? Was it already 3D rendered?

Jared Bush: For pretty much every Disney Animation film, the bulk of actual animation is done in the final year of production - and our process always allows for story adjustments along the way. Most people hear that our movies take 4-5 years to make - this is true, but the vast majority of that time is working on the story and building the characters and worlds.
Source: https://x.com/thejaredbush/status/1867981463112565185
Q: What are you going to do with the cutscene animation from Moana 2?

Jared Bush: There is far less cut animation than people have assumed - because the transition to film happened before the bulk of the movie was animated. But there is definitely one scene Iโ€™d love to find a way for people to see.

If that was true, then they would have done the animation in the same aspect ratio as the original's instead of an aspect ratio that is standard for streaming TV shows.

While it's true that most of the animation is done in the final year of production, they never let us know how far along the show was when they made the announcement.

Yep feels like he's just lying to make Disney look better

When I saw the movie I noticed too the the tv aspect ratio

It's clear the show had at least few scenes made before it got turned

The movie is doing a great ammount of money in the box office but I donโ€™t see people talking much about it and the merchandise doesn't look to be selling as good as it should. In Spain you can find ton of dolls everywhere. I expected a better sales for them but I was wrong.

Gee, maybe itโ€™s not being talked about a lot because kids donโ€™t have social media.

According to Variety, Moana 2 looks like it will pass $1 billion in January.

Thanks to Mufasaโ€™s mixed reviews leading to OK WOM and a reported now $35M OW, it looks like Moana 2 might have renewed strength again to hit that billion next month. And it has no legit animated competition til Dog Man at the end of January (since Sonic 3 isnโ€™t an animated movie and because Disney counts Mufasa as live-action, even if Barry Jenkins doesnโ€™t).

Weโ€™ll just have to wait and see.

Gee, maybe itโ€™s not being talked about a lot because kids donโ€™t have social media.
Kids are not the only one who went to theaters to watch it. Lots of adults including their parents go to theaters and watch the movies no matter if they have kids or not. Not much Disney fans from social media are talking about it when they did with other Disney movies. Adults do talk about animated movies on social media or even show the merchandise that they get. They talked a lot about Inside Out 2 for example or even about Wild Robot but with this movie not much people are making it. The movie is really bad and influencers can't say much positive things about it and I think that that's why there's so less interess in social media. People are going because it's the only animated movie right now to see at theaters and because it's a very popular franchise. Let's see what happen this month with the release of other familie movies like Mufasa and Sonic. It's going to still making good numbers but it's not a movie that's going to be remembered in my opinion.

Moana 2 has now passed $800M worldwide and is now at $804M WW.

Only $196M left before it makes a billion worldwide.

So, for people who watch this kind of thing closely, is it likely to hit a billion based on what it's currently making daily, and if so, will it be a "just barely" kind of thing or does it look to go a hundred million or more past a billion?

I would think it needs to be closer by the time January gets here, but I don't know about that kind of thing.
