I hear you. It's getting boring the way Disney treats its catalogue.Widdi wrote:I see that Sleeping Beauty has been confirmed as the fall 2014 Diamond Edition...
Can we please just forget about this stupid "Diamond" label that really means nothing and release Aladdin and 101 Dalmatians soon rather than making us wait till 2015 for titles that are clearly ready for release (as they already have been in other countries)?
Sleeping Beauty is my favourite Disney movie, but I already own it and would much rather give my money to Disney for titles I don't have yet.

It's rather saddening how you guys haven't got Aladdin or 101 Dalmatians yet. I hope you USers get them soon.Widdi wrote:I see that Sleeping Beauty has been confirmed as the fall 2014 Diamond Edition...

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013
We can blame the Maleficent movie for Sleeping Beauty cutting in line as Diamond Edition.
Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013
Well, we (Europe) are still waiting for Home on the Range, Treasure Planet, Atlantis, Lilo and Stitch, The Great Mouse Detective, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Robin Hood, The Sword in the Stone, Oliver and Company...and Winnie the Pooh on BR.Widdi wrote:I see that Sleeping Beauty has been confirmed as the fall 2014 Diamond Edition...

I wonder what will happen if Maleficent turns out to be a big flop.

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013
Well, if they're releasing Jungle Book in the US spring 2014 and Sleeping Beauty again in fall 2014, the only two remaining Platinum Edition dvds to be upgraded to Diamond blu-rays in the US would be Aladdin and 101 Dalmatians.
Most info seems to point to Aladdin for spring 2015. However, does anyone think there's any legitimate hope for 101 Dalmatians to get a non-diamond special edition in 2014 instead of having to wait at least 1.5 years for a (maybe) fall 2015 release?
Have there been any Platinum Edition dvds that did not upgrade to a Diamond Edition blu-ray to set a precedent for this in the US?

Actually, I believe Aladdin is set for Fall 2015, so Dalmatians would be the spring release that year.

Pinocchio is a Platinum Blu-ray that will probably get upgraded to Diamond.ianwahlers wrote:Well, if they're releasing Jungle Book in the US spring 2014 and Sleeping Beauty again in fall 2014, the only two remaining Platinum Edition dvds to be upgraded to Diamond blu-rays in the US would be Aladdin and 101 Dalmatians.

I don't know why but 101 Dalmatians always seems to get released last in every line with the exception of the first ever DVD batch.

I figured out how you can redeem it right now.ianwahlers wrote:Just tried for the Digital Copy and it says "Sorry, this is not a valid code". May be based on the release date like you said.My question was to him, did his code work on digital copy plus website because mine isn't working.
I went to My DMR and it had an option to get movie, though the only options were Amazon Instant Video and Vudu. I chose Amazon since I have it on my PS3.
Give it a try.

Yaaay for you ! My goodness, Hercules is coming soon .... I don't hold out much hope for the actual release though ....
Current Disney Blu 'upgrades' make the term 'vanilla disc' sound like a jam-packed bonus fest.

I don´t expect anything form Hercules either.
There we have the BR for Hunchback and Tarzan. Extras-less.
Seriously, I can´t believe how low Disney has fallen. The idea of the BR was not just the upgrade in video and audio but the space necessary to fill the disc with tons of extras.
What does Disney do? Sell a barebones movie AND charge you a lot for it.
Because if you tell me that Disney releases X movie with no extras and charge for it half of what a regular BR sells then Ok. But don´t do the opposite.
Anyways...
So, this basically means we just need The Black Cauldron...
Anyone dare to predict when will it come out?

Where are you from, Spain ? The rest of the world has it ... oh wait, was that Blu or DVD ?
Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2013
Yes.
In Spain we got the Special Edition of The Black Cauldron...unbelievable given the fact that we didn´t get the Diamond Edition of Peter Pan.
I was talking about the BR for The Black Cauldron.

Ah ok, I couldn't remember if we had gotten one or not !
It will come --- but a vanilla disc and (fingers crossed) a nice restoration. I don't know what the DVD one was like, but that would be a good basis for quality.
