I still need Fantasia! It costs soooo much on eBay, it's ridiculous. I've already paid a bomb load to get Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Sleeping Beauty, but Fantasia looks like it'll cost even more :-(

Need to hope I spot it in a charity shop or something.

Well i thought I'd post pics of the 101 collector's set. Unlike the pics of the Brazilian? set posted, the UK version has the book and DVD housed inside a mock book just like the UK JB did.

Image

The book is brilliant, much better than that worthless excuse for a book that came with the JB set.

Having not looked at the galleries on the disc, I can't yet say if the book simply takes the stuff from the gallery. Here are a few shots anyway. Incidentally the cover is quite cool, it's actually a black and white photo of London, which has the house and dogs drawn over it.

That book is just wonderful !

I wonder why Disney has taken so much time to include them on their releases. . . I hope SB has one. Which releases have had them so far ?

Snow White, Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations ?

Also, I've pre-ordered a DVD for the very first time from HMV; do you usually get it before the actual release date ? Or after ?

I wouldn't get too excited about the following *just* yet. Buth the BBFC have passed a trailer for Sword in the Stone 45th anniversary. Interestingly, it's in full frame. What that will mean for the DVD though...

Also it would appear a 2 disc SE of National Treasure is also coming. No date yet, but I would assume it would be 9th June, the same date as:

<a href="http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/5274 ... ">National Treasure - (bluray)</a>

<a href="http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/5274 ... ">National Treasure: Book of Secrets (bluray)</a>

<a href="http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/5274 ... oduct.html"> National Treasure/Book of Secrets double pack (bluray) </a>

Well at least they bothered to make new cover-art - I'll put a shiny star sticker in my Buena Vista UK report book.

Although the "Disney" instead of "Walt Disney Pictures Presents" doesn't half look cheap.

Why does this warrent a 'Special Edition'? A new game or something ... ? Isnt it sad that Disney can give TJB2 a Sepcial Edition, but not a Classic like Hercules or Hunchback ?

It's funny; Play.com has no record of The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, but they have a Little Mermaid: Triple Disc Boxset 'coming soon'. So I guess we will get a little mermaid trilogy then ?

Yes I spotted that a while back, but I don't think it is the Disney Little Mermaid.

Truth be told, that doesn't really bother me. "Disney's" would have worked better though, I guess.

What I really want from the company is mature, artsy covers! Covers like the Beauty and the Beast UK Collector's Edition, or the UK or French Sleeping Beauty, or the French Pocahontas, or the Fantasia Anthology. All the Platinum titles seem to be interested in is to make their covers bright and kiddish. I'll admit that the revealed Sleeping Beauty cover art for the upcoming Autumn is beautifully drawn, but once again, it is not artistic or mature in its compositions. They make my collection look like one suited for a baby in a nursery than an adult fan.

Of course, I expect that's Disney's whole point. Nevertheless, I'm sick and tired of Disney's apparent constant denial of adult fans. I once used to scoff at UD members bickering over cover art, deeming it unimportant. Lately, I've really begun to care though!

Hmm. Our American cousins beat us once again at the release date race.

On another note, remember ichabod when you once implied your doubt as to whether BVHE-UK would be consistent in their covers following The Jungle Book's Platinum Banner in the UK? It actually seems they will be, as 101 Dalamtians shows. And it seems new releases of other Walt Disney Classics are dropping the yellow "Walt Disney Classics" banner at the top of the DVD case. Will pigs fly now?

Tell me about it! I know it sounds petty but I'm really brassed of with BVUK for changing the "Disney" logo. They've started doing it since Jungle Book and now it doesn't match the rest of my collection. I mean, what's the point of changing it now?! They've released all of the disney classics onto DVD now and soon will probably be replaced by Blu-Ray altogether, so why can't they change it then when it transitions onto a new format altogether. It's stupid!
