I don't know if anyone has been to Disneyland recently, but at California Adventure in the Disney Animation building, they are showing a special little sneak peak of The Princess and the Frog at the Animation Academy.

Most of the clips shown from the movie have already popped up somewhere on the web, but there was one that I hadn't seen already. It was just a little snippet of after Tiana has been turned into a frog and she's standing next to Naveen, asking "What did you do to me?!"I also remember seeing some more clips of Facilier I hadn't previously seen, but I can't remember what exactly they were.

Also, one of the animators there told me that Disney is actually really behind on the movie and are rushing to finish it on time. I don't know how legitimate this statement is, or if Disney has already let everyone know, but just thought I would share.

So, if anyone is planning a trip to Disneyland soon, try to stop by the Disney Animation building for the preview. It's not much, but it was enough to get me even more excited about this film. :)

I agree. The colors in previous stills were kind of washed out. These are richer and much classier.
These are the colors and vibrant feel I think of when I think of New Orleans and Jazz and Mardi Gras! Those images definitely capture the right spirit of the city!

I saw something like that at The Magic of Disney Animation @ Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. :)

Oh wow! I just found out that Bruce Smith, Dr. Facilier's supervising animator, created The Proud Family! I knew his design for Facilier looked familiar...

Wow! I definitely see the similarities!

The only decent still I could find of him.

Yeah, its been posted already Kyle.

As an FYI, I don't think having Bruce Smith work on the film is a bad thing. Even if his work wasn't always the best (The Proud Family was fun but not the greatest) I think he is underrated as an animator. I like his designs, they are fun and cool without being overbearing.

Facilier looks like a very detailed, fluidly animated, evil version of Oscar Proud. But you can tell his design was slightly toned down from the caricature-esque designs seen in The Proud Family. But still has enough of his style. Its awesome.

The fact that he is working on the movie animating the villain makes me very happy. Hopefully he gets to do more motion picture work at the studio.

Looking at the Proud Family picture, Mama Odie looks a lot like Sugar Mama as well. Did he also supervise Mama Odie?

Sorry for posting again, but I had a thought. You know how ABC Family recently had their Disney Triple Feature? I think they should do this again in honor of Princess and the Frog marking the return to 2D animation, and maybe even show movies like Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Maybe do a "Princess Weekend" and feature Princess movies, including Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

It was announced today that when Bob Iger gives his keynote speech on September 10th at the D23 Expo, he will present 30 minutes of the film, followed by a live performance by Anika Nani Rose of a song from the film. I'm so excited for that!!!!

By the way, are any other UD members going to the D23 Expo besides Arielle?

Well, with this new information, I definitely want to plan a trip to the Expo now. Mind if you post the link where you got this info from? I want to make sure I get all the dates and times correct :)

Ditto - although it needs to be 300 miles or less for me....

I feel spoiled, living right next to Anaheim. I can't imagine not being able to make it to events like this or not being able to go to Disneyland whenever I want

It was in a press release that went out today. It was emailed to me and I posted it on Mice Chat. It would be off topic for me to post it in it's entirety here, but here is the section of it that mentions this:
The 4,000-seat Anaheim Convention Center Arena will be home to spectacular presentations throughout the four days of the D23 EXPO. Disney President and CEO Bob Iger will kick off the entire event with an unforgettable presentation that includes a 30-minute glimpse at the upcoming animated feature The Princess and the Frog and a live performance by its vocal star, Anika Noni Rose. Other Arena presentations will incorporate surprise celebrity appearances as D23 EXPO guests learn about the future of ABC, Disney movies, theme parks, animation and more.
It is happening during Bob Iger's Keynote speech on Thursday September 10th at 10:00 AM. Also, on Saturday September 12th there will be a panel discussion and presentation on The Princess and the Frog in the Walt Disney Studios Theater at 3:00 PM.
The Princess and the Frog, 3 p.m. – All-new footage from Disney’s upcoming animated musical The Princess and the Frog will be screened, followed by a panel discussion with the film’s creators, including John Musker, Ron Clements, Andreas Deja and Eric Goldberg. Studio Theater
I might go to that one, but there are other things I want to do at that time and since I will have already seen 30 minutes of the film and heard Anika Nani Rose sing, I may pass on that one.

Oh, shoot. I was hoping the 30 minute preview was going to be during the Saturday presentation. Hopefully there will still be some good stuff to see during that to make up for missing the Thursday preview. :(

I also am hoping to make it to the Sunday special as well, in order to hear John Lasseter talk about Princess and the Frog, Rapunzel, and Toy Story 3. I also would love to make it to the Toy Story 3 presentation too. :)

I'm guessing they will. If they show 30 minutes at the keynote, I figure there can't be much more they can show at the presentation, so my guess is a lot of it will repeat, if not all of it. I think they also understand that not everyone can make it to Thursday, which is why they are holding the presentation on the weekend. They are doing a similar thing with an Imagineering presentation that has an encore on Sunday for those who couldn't go earlier in the week. I think the Bob Iger presentation is more to get us excited for the film and the presentation is more to inform us about the making-of process, since they have the directors and animators on hand to talk about it. I'll try to go if the other thing is full, but I want to see a little bit of everything and it's impossible to do it all.
