i'm crying because i spent 52 dollars on Sleeping Beauty. crying hard. but worth it.

Yeah lapniappe, sometimes you have to just suck it up and pay the extra money. I had to pay big bucks for "Sleeping Beauty" too, as well as "Beauty and the Beast" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Once you get the DVD you will see it was probably worth it! The extra money is worth knowing you are geting a legit R1 DVD. Did you get it sealed?

sealed, with the slipcover so my entire collection is slipcovered and matching. technically the lion king 1-3 isn't, but its in the box case so its slipcovered

With the DVD being sealed and including the slipcover, I'd say that's not too bad of a price, you certainly could have paid a lot more.

i know i've seen them go for 80 dollars US without the slipcover. also so Beauty and the beast go for that much; and i don't think i would ever spend that much. ever. regardless. it would have to be lined in gold.

Hello everybody,

Although I have been reading this forum regularly for some time, this is my first post.

I've registered because I have a question that I think some of you will be able to help me with.

I recently purchased the Fantasia Anthology-3disc set from a highly recommended seller at Amazon marketplace.

It was stated as "brand new" and came indeed shrinkwrapped with a few buena vista stamps on it and complete with all the inserts and outer box.

The discs play fine. And the cover- and disc-art look genuine.

The only thing that makes me doubt just a little is the bottom of the discs.
They do have some numbers and barcodes, but they don't look exactly like any of my other region 1 Disney dvd's.
The biggest difference is that the bottom of all 3 discs is GOLDEN. And all my other Disney dvd's have a silver bottom.

Maybe it's nothing but I would be happy to now if I have an original copy. So if someone could tell me how the bottom of the Fantasia disc(s) is supposed to look that would help me very much.

Can you describe what you mean by "they (the barcodes) don't look exactly like any of my region 1 Disney dvd's"? How are they different? As far as the underside of the disk being golden, that is perfectly fine. In fact, I would be worried if I were you if you had disks that wern't golden. (if they were silver, odds would be that it's a bootleg!). I'm 100% sure mine's authentic, and the underside is golden, and the barcodes/serial numbers are there, but its in somewhat of a smaller print, or even in a different font. But I really wouldn't worry about it. As long as it HAS serial #'s / barcodes on the undersides of the disks and plays fine, I would definately say its authentic. (apparently, bootleggers/pirates cannot create those barcodes on their disks, since a large majority of them are homemade).

Welcome to the forum. The set sounds real to me. Years ago, gold-colored discs meant they were dual-layered, whereas silver ones would be single-layered. Today, you can't really tell the difference by color, though, since they all kind of look silver-ish now, I think.

I am happy to hear that the discs are supposed to be golden colored.

The barcode and numbers on my discs are bigger than on the other (newer) dvd's I own. And they are golden colored aswell so the shiny rainbowcolor-effect when put under a light is much less prominent.
The barcode is on one side of the inner circle of the disc. On the other side there are the numbers.

I suppose though that these differences are due to the fact that this dvdset came out 6 years ago.

One more thing to be absolutely sure: The individual cases (Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Legacy) inside the box didn't have security seals, nor shrinkwraps. Is that correct?

Hi everybody,

I bought the Fantasia Anthology Box on ebay, and the underneath is golden. well, now I know, this is right, but there are no barcodes on the underneath of the Discs.
The DVDs are RC1 and the package looks authentic.
The only things perplex me are the missing barcodes and the numbers on the underneath (which are fractional not readable, because there are two ranks of numbers on top of each other)

I have a legit set, and there are no barcodes on the inner rings of the discs, only numbers.

Absolutely fake, and the one thing that tips me off for sure is the price. If anyone had their hands on an actual authentic release of SotS and was willing to part with it, it would cost a heck of alot more than $30.

Also, the disc art looks awful with Brer Fox's head mostly cut off.

Some of the info on that page comes directly from SOTS's Snopes.com page...formatting at all. Except they added bits about a "limited release in Disneyland Paris." NOT on Snopes' page.

damn.the ticket almost made it look real. i sort of believed it was authentic until i see the disc art..the dead giveaway is the DVD video logo..instead of disney dvd.

Whatever you do....Never EVER click on a pop-up. They are ususally scamers trying to take your hard-earned money. That dvd is absolutely fake.
