The disaster in Japan is really heartbreaking, I hope the casualties will be lower than expected and that the country will make a speedy recovery. I am deeply moved by this horrible event, and it was not my intention to make you guys think that I believe that Tangled's box office is more important that the security and wellbeeing of the Japanese people. As I did say, I wanted to help the Japanese and have therefore donated money to the Red Cross.
But since I am a Disney-fan, and also very interested in how film's perform at the box office (worldwide, domestic & international), I was hoping for a glorious run for Tangled in Japan, I think the movie deserve all the success it can get. That is not to say that I am not thinking about Japan and all the people affected by this tragic events, it was just the moviegeek/Disney-fan in me talking.

Guess they changed their minds about that one:estefan wrote:They have, actually.Prince Edward wrote:It's sad for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Tangled that the film's box office sucess will get hurt by this major disaster. Can't Disney delay it's premiere?
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/t ... pan-166974Scheduled Japan openings for a pair of animation titles -- Disney's Tangled and DreamWorks Animation's Megamind in 3D from Paramount -- were in limbo. Both were anticipating lucrative payoffs in Japan's animation-crazed market, timed to March school holidays.
Disney’s “Tangled” opens to only $1.6 million in Japan amidst “ongoing tragic conditions.”

I understand that this site has nothing about Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," but just thought I share this for you.

They should've withheld it. Very poor timing I know, but Japan should be allowed some time to rebuild before seeing such a good movie.Prince Edward wrote:Guess they changed their minds about that one:estefan wrote: They have, actually.

Maybe Disney felt Japan needed a bit of escapism to help recover. After all, one of Hollywood's most successful periods was during the Great Depression, mainly for that reason.Semaj wrote: They should've withheld it.
