I've been a member of this forum since its inception and have responded to a few inane posts with the respect that they deserved. Consider yours to be among them.Nedakh wrote:Yes Your Majesty and I stand behind my choices! Who are you, the definitive Star Wars Best Episode Guru?!Just respect the opinions of others and move on. Clones and Menace ahead of Empire and Star Wars (by a large margin!), indeed. That's just silly and embarrassing.

Well I can understand you liking Clones better than the originals(even though I don't agree) but PHANTOM MENACE! That movie was awful compared to the originals!Nedakh wrote:Yes Your Majesty and I stand behind my choices! Please remember to post respectfully. You may not agree with another's opinion but that does not give you the right to insult/attack them for that. A well-reasoned response is always more effective than a put-down anyway. Carry on.
"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president
I absolutely loved Revenge of the Sith, and the midnight showing was one of the best movie experiences I have had. Some high points for me were the battle between Obi-Wan and Grievous and the opening shot of Obi-Wan and Anakin maneuvering with their starfighters.
I will not post rankings of the films because I see them as pieces of the larger story. In my mind, they are kind of like a theatrical production. The first act introduces the characters (Menace), introduces a problem (Clones), and ends with dramatic changes and a monumental challenge (Sith). The 19-year gap is like the intermission. The second act opens at a later time and shows the current state of affairs (Hope). Conflict and peril increase (Empire) until everything culminates in a big climax and happy ending (Jedi). The scrolling text acts as a narrator character who tells the audience members what they need to know.
Lucas has said that he likes to have symphonic echoes between his movies, and he had some wonderful callbacks and references in Sith.
Now, the anticipation for the DVD can begin.

I meant "philistine" in a playful way.Luke wrote:Please remember to post respectfully. You may not agree with another's opinion but that does not give you the right to insult/attack them for that. A well-reasoned response is always more effective than a put-down anyway. Carry on.
And I took being "Your Majesty" and "the definitive Star Wars Best Episode Guru" in the same manner.
Carrying on.

Return of the Jedi is the last? Thats my favorite one. Empire Strikes back was too boring. And you rank the crappy Phantom Menace at number 3, give me a breakNedakh wrote:Same here, however Yoda would have won. Darth Sidious pretty much cheated and avoided a Light Saber battle with Yoda. Count Dooku also cheated, but that's the way of the Dark Side. I expected MUCH more of this climatic sequence between Grand Jedi Master Yoda and the Sith. Here's my favorites:Isidour wrote:On the battle of Yoda and Sidious I felt a little disapointed I thought that when Yoda fell down Sidious would fall with him too, and then where they where on the ground they will stand up and then it will enter the guards of Sidiuos and make Yoda run because he was unable to keep the fight

The thing that really bothers me about Jedi is the giant plot hole at the beginning of the film... Luke goes to Jabba's palace UNARMED (without his lightsaber). Instead, Artoo is in possession of it, in which he shoots to Luke only when the situation seems dire (near the Saarlac).Alan wrote:Return of the Jedi is the last? Thats my favorite one. Now, why wouldn't Luke go to Jabba's palace ARMED with his lightsaber, ask politely for Jabba to release Solo, and if Jabba balks, then Luke frees Han by force (with the aid of his trusty lightsaber)? If it was Anakin going to save his friend (Obi-wan) from the cluches of an evil captor, you can bet your bottom dollar (or Republic credit, for that matter) that he wouldn't attempt it unarmed!
Just my $0.02 worth, and one of the two reasons why I dislike Jedi relative to Star Wars and Empire (the introduction of the cute little furry Ewoks is the other
What I like best about the sextology is that it is the story of Anakin Skywalker in full circle.

Well Lizard King Luke is a jedi! He could've predicted that Jaba was going to do that since jedi can see the future. As for the Ewoks, those guys were fun IMO!
They weren't as horrid as Jar Jar Binks! An Alan Empire was awesome! The 2nd best IMO! But it's my dad least favorite too. He claims there is no story.

Remember the force! It was strong with Luke!memnv wrote:Luke did not get the Jedi Training that the other Jedi have gotten, Anakin was trained since he was 10 others from birth, Luke trained for what a few days. After Watching Episodes 1-3 I have a hard time believing that Luke would be able to give Darth Vader much of a battle
Probably not. I hated how Star Wars didn't get as many awards as Lord Of The Rings did. I don't see what's so great with that trilogy! Star Wars wil always be the best movie franchise!Isidour wrote:Yes, and probably the Academy will do as they did wth Lord of the Rings

Anakin never went through the trials like Obi-wan and Qui-gon did. Anakin's "trial" was his heroism and valor time and time again during the Clone Wars. He was knighted by Yoda himself without any formal trial.memnv wrote:Luke did not get the Jedi Training that the other Jedi have gotten, Anakin was trained since he was 10 others from birth, Luke trained for what a few days. Up to the point where Luke confronts Vader on Endor, Luke doesn't actually believe inside himself that he actually is a Jedi. It is only after Vader notes the construction of a new lightsaber that he says Luke's training is now complete, to which Luke replies under his breath and in total amazement, "Then I am a Jedi."
Unfortunately, Vader's power was fading during the time of Return of the Jedi, and the Emporer knew it. He wanted to replace Vader with Darth Power Converter (or whatever Luke would have been called if he had turned to the Dark Side and become a Sith apprentice).
OTOH, Vader made it very clear in The Empire Strikes Back that he wanted Luke to be HIS apprentice and help him overthrow his master, the Emporer. The reason I liked Empire so much is that it seemed that Vader was at his most powerful and was *THIS* close to taking over the entire Empire.
