My rule first and only rule don't ever buy anything on E-bay that sounds and looks to good to be true.
Just buy it on Amazon or at a store that's more worth it. :D

I agree with you guys, make sure it is sealed and region 1. If its used , they have a great ACTUAL photo of the DVD. The worst ones are all the so called Limited Release copies of "Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, 101 dalmations, etc. " that are "New " but not sealed. they are very good but the printing on the actual DVD is flat and has no "texture" like authentic ones do. And they rarely have an insert. Some of my least favorite sellers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :B:EF:US:1 AND http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :B:EF:US:1
( i hope these links work!) Dont feel bad, I have been duped and I sell On Ebay!!!!
Jules: You know the shows on TV?
Vincent: I don't watch TV.
Jules: Yeah, but, you are aware that there's an invention called television, and on this invention they show shows, right?

damn, you could have fooled me with the ebay auctions, but when all else fails on the description, GO STRAIGHT to their FEEDBACKS, they usually give hints to your final decision.

I actually scored a copy of Peter Pan Special Edition for $15 on ebay 2 weeks ago and it was legit

Thanks everyone, I dont fell as bad to know that I am not the only one. The funny thing is one of the sellers listed above Is actually who I bought 2 from and I paid a good amount for each. They were really good bootlegs but if you look closely you can see the color is off especially on the purple. also the inserts they come with are over glossy and the inside of the case has a shine to it. It also has no push in tabs for the disc like the real ones do. Here is a link so you all know what I fell for.

Yeah it is just like the fact that on E-Bay all of the copies of Bambi and Cinderella are flooded on the internet and are selling for up to $80.00 a piece and they are fakes.

Those Asians are making millions selling fakes.

one other thing.. READ any negative reviews , you may have a seller with 12 good reviews and 3 bad ones but make sure you read the bad ones too. I've had sellers either ship notorioulsy late or have gotten broken or scratched merchandise grr...

Could you guys NOT generalize all Asians as bootleggers? I'm Asian, and I take some offense to that. There are a variety of slimeballs on E-bay but not ALL of them are Asian. :x

I know that it might sound bad but when I hear bootleg I automaticly think of Asia.

It is not a unknown fact that Asia in general has large problems with the bootleg industry. There are sold more fake products in some countrys then real ones.

I saw an intervju with a Norwegian girl that did good in an Asian band. She sead that fans all the time came up with bootleg CDs and asked for it to be signed. That seas a lot, when it is almost accepted by fans to buy pirated copyes.

Not all Asians are pirates, just a few of them are. But there are more Asians that accept pirat products as OK then other places I would guess.

One helpful clue is to never buy any Disney DVD that has an "ALL" as the region format, it just doesn't happen, at least not here in the US, I don't know how Disney fortmats their DVDs in other contries.

Well I have three bootlegs

Post by Mr. Toad »

Bambi, Cinderella and Song of the South.

My bad on the first two, should have been more patient.

But in the case of Song of the South what are you going to do, Disney has given no other option.

Sorry for the late respone Tangela. The bootlegs I got were...

Mulan
Tarzan
Pinocchio
Jungle Book
and Mulan again

There is a happy ending to this story. I have got refunded for every bootleg I have bought. So it is a good thing. The bad thing is a few of the sellers I bought from had 100% feedback, so there are some people out there who do not know that they own illegal copies. A few I got were very convincing and would fool your average consumer.

Another Ebay Victim

Post by Ballzo »

As I have mentioned in a few other posts I have not have good luck with EBAY lately. Many bootlegs I had to send back etc. But now here is somthing new. I bought Mulan, 101 Dalmations and Seabiscuit and my total was about 90 bucks. Well the seller never sent and I sent a dispute to PayPal and I just got this back:

"Our investigation has determined that the seller is at fault, but we were
unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the
PayPal User Agreement, Buyer Complaint funds recovery cannot be guaranteed. "

So there you have it. I just cannot win. I am very sad :(

You may have some recourse against Paypal. They just lost a class action lawsuit for misrepresenting the protection they afford buyers.
