Post by Fry »

I know that Valiant will come to theaters the August 19 but in France this DVD will be released on November 3, in 2 editions: single and a 2 Discs Collector edition with many bonus materials and a metal box! Very nice,no?

I saw where Valiant has a 19% rating from rottentomatoes.com. That makes me wonder if I shouldn't hold out for the rental.

Buffy: We have a marching jazz band?
Oz: Yeah, but, you know, since the best jazz is improvisational, we'd be going off in all directions, banging into floats... scary.

But that is only counting 16 reviews. Hardly enough to be considered a strong poll.

Alright I'm gonna ask a stupid question because as I was reading the posts nobody really mention who was doing the CG. So who is doing the CG for the movie if Pixar isn't? Disney?

That would be Vanguard Animation! I believe its a company in England. Does anyone plan on seeing it this weekend!? :)

What about Dinosaur?

Anyways, I am going to try and avoid this one. My daughter wants to see Brothers Grimm more (that's my girl!) so I'm going to put this one off till DVD and then I'll rent it for her. If she likes it, she can wait till Blockbuster puts it out previously viewed :P

I read on IMDb that the runtime is 109 min but is US/Can the runtime is 76 mins. Is the film really 33 mins shorter than it should be?

Yes, the UK release is 109 mins. See Here. And I thought the scissor happy Wienstiens were supposed to have left Disney!

I guess the Alternative Versions link on IMDB will be active soon! :)

Another reason to get the UK DVD (when the freaking thing is finally up for pre-order!)

Edit: Noooooo! The UMD for Valiant has been up for ages, and now I see it's being distributed by Entertainment in Video. I guess the DVD will too. Nooooooo!

according to IMDB -
Runtime: 109 min / France:75 min / USA:76 min
It appears that France has the same edited cut as the US (after PAL speedup). So it may not be the edition to go for, tin or no tin.

Lots of distributors have released the film - in the UK it was Odyssey Distributors Ltd., but in a cruel twist of fate it appears Entertainment In Video have the home rights. SND released the film in France.

Rottentomatoes.com gave it a 23% rating after 70 reviews (I wonder if they would have given the longer version a better rating). I will definitely wait to rent the DVD.

According to Ben Simon, in his review and a post I've seen on another forum, it actually is 76 minutes in the UK. This would mark the first time ever that the IMDb has been misinformed!
