Blind buy! What we're known for! ;)
I can't decide if I want the 2-Disc CE or get the DVD from Circuit City with the bonus disc.. So complicated!
Either way, we're getting it regardless of what the critics said! :p

lord-of-sith wrote:I'll probably get it Tuesday, if not, very soon afterwards. And I'm getting the 2-Disc version as the extras look great. Oh, and to ChayChay, I think you'll probably like it, my mom didn't really like the books, but she thought the movie was better. Carrey is hilarious, you'd have to not blink to see every one of his jokes. Oh, and I often dissagree with Ebert, he often gives films that deserve better scores lower ones, Lemony Snicket is a prime example. So, just try it and see what you think.
Thank you, lord-of-sith. I will rent it from my library.

The CIRCUIT CITY ad states this:
FREE 25 minute featurette bonus DVD with behind the scenes footage with purchase.
I have no idea if that applies when you buy the 2-Disc CE, but I know for sure when you get the single disc! :)

----------------------------------------------------

I was reading the thread started by Wonderlicious because I was debating over the 2-Disc versus 1-Disc (1 disc difference and $10.00!)
[by the way, that thread is here: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=7750 ] and after reading each post and what not...I think I'll just settle for the 1-Disc + bonus disc from Circuit City and buy another DVD worth $10.00. ;)

Yes, and from what else I see, the extra disc has some great featers. Entertainment Weekly bumped its grade from a C+ to a B.

You mean the boxed set of the Platinum Edition? because the dvd only is the Platinum Edition and the box HAS the Platinum Edition (and only Edition of this film) dvd.

This movie is gonna be a blind buy for me. I've read all the books and I love them so I figure the movie can't be half bad.

I ordered the 2-Disc from Amazon it was only $21 I don't know why they didn't just release a 2-disc then later only have the single disc? I'm not gonna pay $30 (well $13  ) for a disc that should be free.

I saw the 2-Disc at Suncoast today.
And I like it and it's slipcover! ;)

Yea, we'll be getting the 2-Disc.
Because 2 is better than 1 and the guy told us, "Dudes (yea, he said 'dudes'. talk about manners!), this is comedy! You'll like it!"

just the Platinum DVD, I would never have enough money for the Aladdin Gift Set...though it would look nice on my DVD shelf

i went to target and bought it...it was 30 bucks ! all for some extra book.

if anyone knows the prices of other stores could u please list them ? Thanks !

I don't think this DVD is worth $30.

Too many reasons to get the one-disc and not the two-disc:
1) The two-disc comes with the book The Bad Beginning which I already own.
2) The first disc is exactly like the disc which comes in the one-disc.
3) I favor the one-disc cover more.
4) Disc Two just makes the two-disc have one more hour of bonus materials:
ONE-DISC - over 4 hours of bonus material
TWO-DISC - over 5 hours of bonus material

sigh...why does the two-disc have to be so expensive ? :(

Ummm...what? The bonus material on disc two alone runs 196 minutes. That's way more than just an hour (3 hours and 16 minutes to be exact). Your #2 and your #4 reasons are exactly the same, just reversed in wording. You can always print out the standard disc cover from an online source and replace your 2-disc one with it. I will agree, though, that the inclusion of the book is stupid since most people who'll be buying be the DVD will have already bought the book (myself, included). That's the only reason why this set is so expensive, though. Either way, over three hours of features on disc two are very much worth it.
