Jack wrote:Bought my first CD in about 2 years: "A Rush of Blood to the Head" by Coldplay. I love half of the album, particularly Politik, In My Place, The Scientist, and Clocks - in fact, it sounds crazy, but all 4 are some of my all-time favorite songs. The rest of the songs are more like backround music and don't stick with you as much. But all in all, it's a great album. Coldplay is my favorite group today.
That album is amazing...very good. I'm listening to it right now!

Music is awesome.

I just got "Fever to Tell" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs which is pretty good, but so far I like their EPs better. I downloaded the Peel Sessions (a live concert by the White Stripes) and that's really fun. Plus I just made a new mix with a bunch of different stuff. So I won't have to go to the record store for a while!

P.S. has anyone gotten/heard the new album by the Hives? It's called Tyrannosaurus Hives. I'd like to know whether it's worth getting . . . thanks!

Very good choices there, jr.

I was at the memorable gig where Karen O of YYY fell offstage six songs in :P

Apparently there is an official White Stripes Live thing coming out soon, so look out for that.

The Hives new record, from what I've heard, is not a HUGE departure from the last record, so if you liked that you'll probably like Tyrannosaurus Hives as well.

For some reason, I'm digging the squeaky-voiced Joanna Newsom at the moment, as well as Dogs Die in Hot Cars (their album is called Please Describe Yourself). Oh, and the new Rocket Science record that just came out. Aussie band that has a bit of a following in England, largely due to touring with Supergrass (who are huge fans). Judging from your tastes, I think you might like them, rafiki. (Look for their last record, Contact High. The new one is called Eternal Holiday, but Contact High is probably their best).

Well I've been rocking Amy Grant's 2 new singles lately... I'm trying to find a way to make them accessible to people outside the fan club, but no luck thus far. They're hitting pop and Christian radio this week/next week, though, so hopefully you'll be hearing them there. They'll also hit iTunes at some point, probably prior to the release date.

I own all of Mariah's albums, The #1s and back (or was Rainbow after that?- anyways, I have both of those and all the ones before them). I'm surprised Butterfly is y'all's favorite. I'd put it closer to the bottom (her more recent ones disregarded, as I haven't heard them and don't much care to), with Rainbow being absolutely the worst.

Thanks! Haha, you're so lucky you've even been to a YYYs concert . . . or any concert at all . . . however, when the White Stripes live DVD comes out (Under the Blackpool Lights, comes out October 26th, ordered it already, can't wait . . .) I'll probably feel like I'm there. As for the Hives . . . I think I'll pick that one up too. You can never have too much music and I have a bit of extra cash, for once!
Thanks for the musical recommendations! I always like being introduced to stuff I've never heard of before. Looking forward to checking them out!

My rotation for the past few days ...

Sixpence None the Richer, Sixpence None the Richer
Divine Discontent, Sixpence None the Richer
Absent Friends, The Divine Comedy
Befriended, The Innocence Mission

I can listen to CD's a million times through, and still not get tired of them.

Thanks for reminding me about the White Stripes DVD.

Defintely one to buy for my girlfriend, who is a huge fan (I'm one too, but her birthday is too too far from the release date).

Just bought Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds new record, Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus.

A real return to the classic gritty Nick Cave, coupled with some stuff that sounds like his more recent records.
