I told Luke the other day, when they said that "Robin Hood" and "Zorro" were exclusives, I finally bit the bullet and joined. Up until this time, I ordered "Horse Without a Head" and "A Tiger Walks" through dealers on Ebay, since they were like onesy-twosy type things. Now, if Disney is seemingly putting a lot out there this way, I decided to join.
A few questions:
I purchased a Region 2 "Kidnapped" a while back. I'm not going to bother with the Movie Club version unless it is significantly different. Does anyone know? The Region 2 one has English and Italian languages, and English, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Dutch subtitles and no "World of Disney" opening.
Also, as a member, can we influence releases at all? At this point, the Disney feature films I am missing on DVD are:
Song of the South (I do have the bootleg DVD)
The Sword and the Rose
The Living Desert
Rob Roy
The Vanishing Prairie
The Littlest Outlaw
The African Lion
Secrets of Life
Westward Ho! The Wagons
Perri
The Light in the Forest
White Wilderness
Tonka
Ten Who Dared
Jungle Cat
Moon Pilot
Emil and the Detectives
The Monkeys Uncle
The Fighting Prince of Donegal
Smith!
The Wild Country
Scandalous John
Run Cougar Run
Charley and the Angel
Superdad
Ride a Wild Pony
The Treasure of Matecumbe
Amy
Trenchcoat
There are also quite a few made for TV ones I want like "Prince and the Pauper" and the rest of the Zorro series, etc., but the above are the missing US feature films I want. And "Dr. Syn", I would rather have as the mini-series than the feature version, kind of like how they issued the "Davy Crockett" tins...

I can tackle this one: there is one big difference: the DMC version is missing ~40% of the picture. It's pan and scan, as opposed to the widescreen Region 2 version. You made a wise purchase!
It's the sad truth that when there are aspect ratio differences among live action Disney films, it is usually the US which gets the short end of the stick, while the rest of the world gets to enjoy a 16x9-enhanced transfer.
For lack of a better place to ask this, how does one contribute a review to this website? I have, for example, "A Tiger Walks" which does not have a review yet. Do I just submit one, or do you have people already assigned to the task?
A Tiger Walks already has someone attached to it and in general, reviews are assigned not volunteered. Still, if you'd like to help out, send me an e-mail and we'll go from there.
Scratch my previous response. I read Kidnapped as Shipwrecked, the early '90s drama with Gabriel Byrne. This is the pan-and-scan DMC one.

I have a great idea, why don't you compare the screencaps here: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/kidnapped.html
with your region 2 DVD and let us all know whether or not it's the same transfer. If there is a significant difference I, for one, would appreciate if you could post the screencaps so we could all see the difference.
There have been significant differences in region 1 versus region 2 transfers even when both are presented full frame. "Follow Me, Boys" for example:
region 1

Anyhoo it appears the UK does have a smidge more picture at the left, right and bottom however the colours and resolution of the UK DVD seem better.
