Am all for Tin Fay in a Pixar movie and Jamie Foc can be good. But a musician i have never heard of in my entire life !, A woman who played the wife a convicted rapist on 70s sitcom and an a guy happand to be in a really famous broadway musical doesn't seem like that inspired casting to me.
Phylicia Rashad is great actress, beyond The Cosby Show. I am looking forward to Tina Fey, too, I don't think I said that before.
Also now that we know John Ratzenberger is a Trump supporter must we still have him in EVERY single Pixar movie ? !
Oi, I did not know that. Thankfully I'm not too much of a PIXAR fan anyway. I guess it suits a company created by Lasseter anyway. Ho-hum. Ratzenberg has done good voice work, for what it's worth.
I know Phylicia Rashad played the mother in the two Creed movie and won a Tony for a revival of A Raisin in the Sun so she is proabbly a agood actrss i was not familer at least atoulgh i mght have seen her on list of the best lving black actress on IMDB a few weeks ago if i recall right. Sort of wonder how aware she was of what Cosby did bhined the secens ?

But Questlove is a comlpetly new name for me i never ever heard him metiond before. Wonder if his fanbase is motly african americans not many white people.

Daveed Diggs i seem to recall was cast as a voice in a non-Disney animated movie relatively sure it was Ferdinand which i found mostly boring and predictable except for the german horses who were really funny.

while it's nice almost all the main voice actors are black i would like some more people recognize.

But odly enough sometimes Pixar avoid casting big star going for people Patton Oswald and Bonnie Hunt instead who small cult fanbaises.

Another example Dave Foley who voiced the lead in A Bug's life he was't really a big name.

Atoulgh they have cast big stars as well like Michael Caine,Emma Thompson ,Jeffrey Wright , the amazing Frances McDormand and Chris Cooper.

I am unsure if Arime Hammer counts as a star or not,

Anyway mostly tho voice acting in Paixar is really good. Amy Poehler was brllant as Joy and Holly Hunter as Elastigirlis nothing short iconic !

But on the other hand Larry the Cable Guy should have gotten rRazzie nomation for Cars 2 . Meater is already a pain in the ass and larry only mkes it worse. Hard to belive this guy even made it as a big comdian only being familer with him from the Cars movies.

Speaking Pixar i still think it was stroke of brilliances to cast the late Phyllis Diller as the queen in A Bugs lIfe she bought so muvh personality to the role. I am sad she has now passed away !

I thought they were the highlight of Ferdinand, too. The dance-off had me dying! I actually had very low expectations for Ferdinand to the point I put off watching it. The fact that the movie far exceeded what I expected might be why I have such a positive impression of it despite the fact that I'd still describe it as average.

The movie that made me realize Phylicia Rashad is amazing was For Colored Girls (Anika Noni Rose is also a shining star in that film). Rashad was always my favorite part of TCS, too.

I've always thought making Bonnie Hunt and Owen Wilson love interests in Cars was bizarre. And I agree with you, Phyllis Diller was my favorite part of A Bug's Life! She has at most a background role, and yet she's the thing I remember most fondly about the film. Glad to see someone else out there loved her part, too. :D

The film seems like a cross between Rhapsody in Blue and Inside Out. Nothing about it excites me. I don't like the character designs; they look uninventive and lazy. The human character looks particularly bad. Interestingly, this is another music-heavy Pixar film that's not labeled a musical.

You all wanted Pixar to do "original" movies again, didn't you? Well, now you're getting two next year, and you're still not satisfied?

Calm down, fanboy. Are you the spirit of disneyphilip? Whenever anyone has legit criticism all you do is jump up and down and rage foam at the mouth for anyone not daring to shower Pixar with flowers.

I personally want new original ideas, not another body comedy and something that is very derivative of Inside Out. Even Raya sounds similar to Moana and I didn't like the dragon design and her facial expression with the Dreamworks raised eyebrow. Originality is more than doing the same formula with different characters and settings.

Pixar definitely needs to branch out from the buddy comedy formula they use over and over. I'm not a big Inside Out fan either so a spiritual successor of sorts doesn't really interest me. Raya feels very generic right now as well and proves that Disney is just as complicit with overusing Lasseter's stale formula as Pixar has been.

So new idea instead firing ratzeburg for his political views let's do the opposite ! Pixar can hireDonald Trump for a voice part in an upcoming movie. He can play the kindly old man who truns out to be the bad guy a stock Pixar character type by this ponit or an older mentor to the her like Doc Hudson.

You can market the movie partly on staring the voice of one of the most famous people in the world right now !

We know he is enough of a Pixar fan to watch Finding Dory according to something that shows what movies the Presdinet has viewed. I read an article about when Finding Dory was newly released.

Brad Bird and Lee Unkrich are both vocally anti-Donald Trump on their Twitter accounts and they still allowed John Ratzenberger to voice act in Incredibles 2 and Coco. I think Ratzenberger is enough of a professional that he doesn't bring in his political views when he goes into the recording studio. I think it's unlikely he will stop appearing in Pixar's movies.

If this had been an issue for Disney/Pixar, Ratzenberger would have been booted by Cars 3 and Coco, but that clearly wasn't the case. Interesting though that my favorite Pixar films were created by both Brad Bird and Lee Unkrich.

Anyone get an "Into the Spider-verse" vibe? It sounds crazy but the urban scenes of that film remind me of the art style used for that still.

The proportion of the head with respect to the rest of the body seems more realistic than usual for Pixar, don't you think? I like that it's not the typical type of protagonist; that he's older and not in shape. And it's curious that, like WDAS' first black protagonist (Tiana), Pixar's first black protagonist will also be turned into a green creature/being during most of the movie.

By the way, here are a couple of photos and a video from the D23 Expo that I forgot to share:

Emm...This is just regular ol' CG. The urban landscape is just more photorealistic than usual.

His body proportions are less caricatured but his face remains quite cartoony resulting in a mismatched and slightly off-putting design.

That's right. I hadn't made that connection before. I doubt people will criticize the film for this reason though like they did with TPatF.
