Just a thought...

Since Cinderella III is one of the better ones and the story is a What If (meaning it´s a could be scenario and not an actual sequel to the original), do you think Walt Disney would have a approved it and took to the theaters?; taking in consideration what I said before and that he had in such high regards both the story and the movie itself.

I believe he could have made an exception for this one; remember that it wouldn´t have been a true sequel.

I actually own all the DTVs that have been released -- call it a collector's/OCDer's curse -- and I love/like/enjoy only 6 or 7, tops. To be fair, I haven't watched them all yet, but I'm planning a Disney features marathon which would encompass the sequels as well.

Ranking:

Favorites:
- Aladdin and the King of Thieves
- Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
- Aladdin: The Return of Jafar
- Cinderella III: A Twist in Time
- The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride

Enjoyable:
- Bambi II
- Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure
- 101 Dalmatians II: Patch’s London Adventure
- Mulan II
- The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata

Mediocre:
- The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
- Peter Pan: Return to Never Land
- Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame II
- Hercules: Zero to Hero
- Tarzan & Jane
- Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins
- Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch
- Brother Bear 2
- Stitch! The Movie

Terrible, but I give them a pass:
- The Jungle Book 2
- Atlantis: Milo’s Return
- Cinderella II: Dreams Come True

Virtually unwatchable:
- The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning

1. The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Beginning
2. The Lion King 1 1/2
3. Beauty and the Beast - The Enchanted Christmas
4. Cinderella - A Twist in Time
5. 101 Dalmatians - Patch's London Adventure
6. Bambi II
7. Aladdin and the King of Thieves
8. The Return of Jafar
9. Lilo & Stitch - Stitch Has A Glitch

Harmless
1. The Lion King - Simba's Pride
2. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame II
3. The Little Mermaid - Return to the Sea
4. Cinderella - Dreams Come True
5. Beauty and the Beast - Belle's Magical World
6. Disney Princess Enchanted Tales - Follow Your Dreams
7. Lady and the Tramp - Scamp's Adventure
8. Peter Pan - Return to Never Land

Absolutely awful
1. The Jungle Book II
2. Pocahontas - Journey to A New World
3. Atlantis - Milo's Return
4. Leroy & Stitch
5. Stitch - The Movie

I've got my own share of Disney sequels that I like as well.

The Rescuers Down Under: The best of all the Disney sequels as far as I'm concerned.

The Return of Jafar/Aladdin and the King of Thieves: I would not say that either of these are better than the original Aladdin, which ranks as my #1 favorite Disney movie of all time, but I really enjoyed the Aladdin franchise as a whole, and that included these two sequels and the TV series. I loved how it basically expanded the world of Aladdin with all kinds of new characters, villains, and adventures, as well as how it all seemed to come together to form an impressively consistent series of events going beyond the original film. It has more consistent continuity than the Hercules TV series, where Hades is not supposed to know that Hercules is still alive as a teenager (in fact even that one crossover episode Hercules had with Aladdin fit with what had already been established from these two sequels).

People like to give Return of Jafar a hard time because of the animation, but honestly, I see far worse looking TV animation today than anything found in any of Disney's direct-to-video work. I also didn't mind Dan Castellaneta substituting for Robin Williams as The Genie. Robin's certainly the best, but Dan was just as entertaining to me in Return of Jafar and the TV series. I would rank these two sequels the same as everyone else does: King of Thieves first and Return of Jafar second.

The Lion King 1 1/2: I liked how this was pretty much the original film told from the perspective of Timon & Pumbaa, who were always my favorite characters from The Lion King. It's also arguably the more canon version of how Timon and Pumbaa first met, since their TV series in the 90's also had an episode explaining it, but unlike the series this movie's much more grounded in the world of the original film.

As for Simba's Pride, I did watch it on VHS way back, but it's been kind of forgettable to me since I haven't watched it in years. I do hear people say that it's one of the good Disney sequels though.

Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch: I was absolutely impressed by just how much this sequel matched the exact look and feel of the original film. It felt like a natural sequel to the original that also didn't feel as gimmicky as Stitch! The Movie, which was meant to setup the whole experiment hunting plotline of the TV series (not that I didn't like watching Lilo & Stitch: The Series on Disney Channel at the time). And if that isn't enough, that ending where Stitch "dies" was truly emotional and one of the best parts.

And while it's more of a spin-off than a sequel, I do like the direct-to-video movie of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and was a fan of the series.

I really love the film and think it is one of the best sequels if not the very best. It's quite possible Walt would have liked it and taken in to theaters. He would require the animation to be a little better to do that, but story and character wise I think he could have done it, perhaps with finishing Anastasia's arc by having her fall in love with the right person for her, really sending the message that anyone can find true love in addition to the message it already has of love conquering all.

The film did, like Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest, get released to theatres in some countries.

If next year's 'Cinderella' is a big, fat financial and critical sucess (I'm crossing my fingers), I think they might use the idea behind 'Twice Charmed' for a sequel.

As I said before, the execution of 'Cinderella: A Twist in Time' was disappointing. The inconsistent animation, Anastasia and Drizella's improprieties, the disparities between it and the 1950 film (Jaq and Gus bringing the key to Cinderella before the grand duke's arrival, for example), that awful scene with Lucifer chasing Jaq and Gus in the palace, the ending with the stepmother turning everyone into animals (I wish she had been more vicious than that) left a bad taste in my mouth. But I can't deny how marvellous it would be to see Cate Blanchett's stepmother turning back the hands of time and creating the twisted carriage! They just need to write a better script and refine everything else!

I hope they filmed a show of Twice Charmed and someday I can see that whole show in all its glory. I know they did an original cast recording and sold it on the cruise ship the show was on.

Anyway, I think I too would like to see a live-action verison of Cinderella: A Twist in Time to continue the live-action version of Cinderella. Part of me doesn't because I feel a sequel would kind of ruin it, but a part of me also tells me it wouldn't ruin it, that it doesn't damage the original and/or I can just pretend it didn't happen.

However, I don't think Cinderella III was executed badly at all. I just was hoping for a better ending to the climax (yea, turning people into animals isn't very evil).

Old Fish Tale, what did you mean by the stepsisters' improprieties? I thought the stepsisters were just like the original film except for Anastasia being more good.

OFT could mean how the stepsisters act like sidekicks from a B-level sitcom, rather than the vicious brats they are in the original (really, watching the sequels, they do not gel with the original at all, especially the way their ripping of Cinderella's dress is depicted as a traumatic assault). But that's no surprise, almost everybody but Cinderella is acting out-of-character in Twist in Time.

I thought everyone acted like the originals reasonably well, but if you disagree I get how you can.

Oh, and I forgot to say any things not syncing up to the original, like the change of Prince Chamring's wedding ouitfit in the flash back/time changing and mice with the key before the Duke arrives, to just be from the magical changing of everything. Like the magic mixed it all up. It just works for me that way.

In 'Cinderella', Anastasia and Drizella were awkward, but they had decency! In 'Cinderella: A Twist in Time', they were simply a nightmare! Take this and the food fight. That's vulgarity.

We'll wait and see. But with a good script, a sequel based on it could be something to treasure.

Oh I see. Well I can see how they were more proper in the original, but what they do in the sequel is also believable to me. I guess it would be closer if they were more proper.

I've seen all of them- at least, the ones of the animated canon. I haven't seen all the Stitch and Tinkerbell sequels, though. And yet...

Of the good ones, I'd say they are:

-Fantasia 2000
-Bambi 2- a little boring, but inoffensive. It can work well with the original film
-Cinderella 3
-The Pirate Fairy is quite good, at least more enjoyable than Peter Pan 2 (which was quite bad)
-Winnie the Pooh (2011) is quite fun, and the Tigger movie is the best of all the DVD/non canon Pooh sequels. The others are bland.
-Rescuers Down Under
-The Aladdin sequels. I miss Robin Williams and the animation and songs aren't as good as the original film, but it's pretty memorable and consistent with the Aladdin mythology of the original movie, in fact it even expands it (unlike other sequels which ignore the original canon of the first film)...

-The Lion King 2 is also good. The new characters are likeable, and they hold their own role in the story. I like the songs more in this film than the first one...Yet I dislike the orange/yellow tones the film has for some reason, and it's boring how of all the previous characters from the first film Simba is the only active one.

-Pocahontas 2- It's not as bad as people make it out to be. It's cheesy at times, yeah, and the songs are bad, but I like the expansion of Poca's character in this film.

The others go from bad to worse, though.
