I just realized this year marks the 50th anniversary for The Sword in the Stone. I hope we get that one soon. I won't hold my breath but I'm excited to see how they'd restore that one given what a good job they did with Aristocats and (from what I saw on the trailer) Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Yeah... I don't get the point about release it again. I don't know what are they thinking.
Disney Spain is the worst company of all the world, they don't care about Disney movies like they did before... Well, after all I'm out many years ago. They can go to hell, I'm with Disney USA

The cover for the German Blu-ray of Aladdin is up. Apparently, there's a new trend to recycle the Platinum covers in Europe. First Peter Pan, now Aladdin. Ugh.

The cover says 'temporary image' at the bottom, so we'll have to wait and see if they keep this though.

Wouldn't shock me in the slightest; there is a terrible habit of recycling covers atm...such as shame as almost every film has had better posters/home releases than their most recent releases.

I wouldn't be surprised if some countries in Europe recycle the art, but for the US I think Dalmatians and Aladdin will get cover art. They couldn't even give most countries Peter Pan's coverart when they already had it.

Also two new Aladdin books are being released on March 1st. The one's called Aladdin: Wishes Can Come True and the other's called Aladdin: Moonlight Ride. Could they have to do with an upcoming Blu-ray release for Aladdin in North America?

I would LOVE it if we got Aladdin this year! ...As long as it is more like the Alice in Wonderland or Dumbo blu-ray releases and less like any of the sub-par practically barebones blu-rays of The Aristocats, The Rescuers films, Fox and the Hound, The Great Mouse Detective, and, unfortunately, Hunchback and Mulan by the looks of things. As long as they ported over all the Platinum Edition's special features, it'd be a great release, regardless of whether it was 'Diamond' or not. Their stupid marketing has little bearing on how good or appreciated a film is, anyway. I also hope we'll see Hercules and Tarzan this year. If we got those three on blu-ray, all of the Renaissance films would be taken care of.

THANKS DISNEY FOR LISTENING!

Not only is the cover for Hunchback gorgeous, but there's no mention of the sequel like many of us complain. Much better than that strange yellow thing before. Good job :)

Why don't they ever use their old theatrical release posters for any of their films? The closest they came was with Pocahontas last year, no ?

Some new Disney Blu-ray releases in Sweden:
Finding Nemo (Blu-ray & Blu-ray 3D) March 6th, 2013
Who framed Roger Rabbit (Blu-ray & DVD) March 27th, 2013

We in Sweden have got the cover art for the Blu-ray edition of Walt Disney´s 22nd animated classic: The Many adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Which will be released March 27th 2013 here in Sweden.

What do you think about the cover art?

These last few days I've been watching clips from the package films. These films fascinate me. Even if they feel a little "half-baked", there's plenty to admire in them. My favourite thing about them is the diversity of art and animation styles on show.

Unfortunately, the DVDs don't hold up too well. I think AV Quality-wise, these titles looked quite good when released 10 to 12 years ago. However, each has a number of issues. The following refer to the UK and Danish releases, which I think are identical to the Region 1 Gold Collection discs:

Saludos Amigos: Good colours, not terribly sharp, a hint of encoding artefacts.

The Three Caballeros: A little soft, slightly lacking in contrast, dirty print, with a very annoying moiré effect that kills any crispness there is to the lineart. Was this moiré corrected for the Caballeros Collection DVD released a few years ago? :?

Make Mine Music: Average, poorly handled NTSC-to-PAL transfer.

Fun and Fancy Free: Very clean print, but drab colours.

Melody Time: Good, gets spotty during the later part of the film.

Ichabod and Mr. Toad: Spotty. and occassionally dark.

I wonder ... should I be asking when the package features will be released on Blu-ray, or whether that will happen at all? What do you guys think are the chances we may see these films released as 2-Movie Collections, with a minor restoration*?

* I really don't expect Disney to spend big bucks restoring these titles, but if they were to just give them a budget scrubbing and do a careful encode to avoid digital artefacts, I would be more than happy.
