YAY!!!! Sad that Kevin won't be directing. Oh well. As long as we get Amy Adams, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel (singing)... then I'll be happy  Oh, and hopefully a lot more, perhaps half of the movie is animated? :P

:indifference:

Seriously, why would the most single-filmed story need a sequel? Now, a spinoff would be okay, as that's not directly canon.

What baffles me is that it took this long for Disney to greenlight the project. You'd think Disney would JUMP at the chance to make another Enchanted, because 1) the first movie did fairly well at the Box Office and 2) it was a film that actually CELEBRATED all the nice things about Disney (i.e., not Prince of Persia). I've commented in other discussion threads in the past about Enchanted being the finest Disney film of the 2000s. I still stand by those words.

What would make this new film great is even MORE animation, instead of that dinky 10-minute-intro from the original film. I don't know this is possible, and I'm sure the guys over at James Baxter's studio are knocking their heads against their animation desks from just the thought of it!

As long as Alan Menken is doing the music, I'm down.

James Baxter Animation no longer exists. :( The last thing they did was the traditionally-animated intro for DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda.

James is, in fact, now back at DreamWorks.

Hmmm .... again, like you guys, I'm very torn with this idea. There is no need for second Enchanted film. Even just to avoid the God-awful title they are bound to give it:

Enchanted II: Giselle Returns ?

Dis-Enchanted ?

Enchanted: Back To Andalasia ?

:P

I seriously love the first film though, its just plain magical .... the cast was superb, the songs were outstanding, and it paid homage to the Disney I knew from my childhood. And to top it off, the sheer skill of Amy Adams as Giselle !

If the whole team was back, including Alan Menken, Amy et all, then this really could be done right. But remember Disney did in fact register domain names about a year ago, like enchantedmovie2.com and enchanted2.com, so it would appear they have been thinking about it.

Ditto.
Here, Here!

Also, I would like to see Robert and Morgan go to Andalasia. I don't care why they go there. They just need to go there at some point! And maybe Disney can do the animation for it themselves, why didn't they think of that before!? They're an animation studio, first and foremost. At least, that's how it ought to be, unless they've forgotten their roots.

It would kill Robert's character for me if he went to Andalasia. Now, if Morgan went there, then fine. Nancy's already there, anyway. Giselle probably shouldn't return until very late in the movie(if at all). Nathaniel might be a decent choice, too.

I don't know, I just really like the mental image of an animated Robert in a suit and tie running about as confused in Andalasia as Giselle was in NYC. :D

Nice to see some happy news from Disney, now that they are screwing up with Rapunzel, The Snow Queen and their home video releases!

As long as Alan Menken will compose and Amy Adams (James Marsden would have been great as well) will star, this movie can't be a failure!;D

Twice Enchanted? ;)

Honestly, if Mary Poppins were released today, there would certainly be a sequel, which is why I'm not surprised by this news.

People think Giselle and Robert weren't married in the end (I think they were, but that's just me), so there's still room in a sequel to show it.

I doubt they even needed to be. So much pressure comes from marriage. May have been to much for Giselle.

That's funny, I've thought of Enchanted as today's Mary Poppins as well, I even thought Amy Adams deserved Oscar buzz at the very least.

Nice sequel name by the way.

What?!?!?! How could I have missed that news???? Disney lost yet another one of their great animators to Dreamworks?? Who's next, Andreas Deja????

... One good thing about this though. Because Disney regained their 2D animation department (for how much longer is yet to be determined) they can now afford a longer and more-expensive 2D segment, which was one of my biggest wishes, in my original post.

James Baxter left Disney for Dreamworks way back when Hunchback was finished. He had his own studio from 2005-2008 if I remember right, and as previously stated here, is back at Dreamworks again.

Animators typically know no loyalty other than honoring contracts these days, they go where the work is in order to survive. It just kinda sucks that Disney shut down their studio altogether when they did.
