Never did get anim8or to run for me, btw. I'm trying to figure out my life right now and, for the moment, gave up on that particular program.

Bad news, my laptop hard drive failed, meaning I have lost many hours of work. not all of it mind you, but this means Im back to having no real windows, no hallway, no improved rug, no army man, and a bunch of other stuff.
I had a guy I know try all he could to recover the data, but so far no dice. theres still one more thing left to try, short of sending it to a data recovery plant (which would charge and upwards of a thousand bucks) which is to replace the drive's chip. the hard part is finding a match.
In any event, I have started on Woody's head, and might have something to show soon.

That's still out of my reach a bit. I've forgone Wings and landed on Blender, seeing as how Anim8or still wouldnt run-or show any signs of trying-and Blender has a whole wikibook for an amateur like me to learn the software with. Im learning more than I ever did in Wings.
Also, in taking a leaf out of Kyle's book, Im gonna attempts recreating scenes. Some cutscenes from the Kingdom Hearts games look like they could use a bit of tuning. Once I get started, I'll make a thread about that.

This is so cool. Personally, I would never release the working files publicly. If you ever require them for a job or something like that, it's easier to prove you created it, if you can show them what's not available online (behind the scenes). And like you said, the easiest way to stop someone else from taking credit, is not making it available.
Can't wait to see the finished results of what looks like a true labour of love.
Keep up the good work!!!

No signature needed - Kyoto Animation put out some beautiful animation
Yeah, thats something Im still debating (releasing the project files publicly).
On one hand I know there are a lot of people who like to claim work as their own, if a company like Lego was satified stealing a mere image of windowless version of the room, they (or someone else) would have a ball with the final project files Im sure.
on the other hand, I also know of some people who would love to use this in game mods and animation. I would love to see my work here animated but I don't have the computing power to make this practical. its just not a reality for me. but someone with a powerful computer and a good grasp on a nicer renderer and setting up new lights could work wonders with it I'm sure. but all it would take is one person, in the wrong hands it'd be up for grabs by anyone.
Edit: made some new doors, they probably still need work, but I think I got the number of squares correct for the new room. This one took 19 hours to render.

A video update. Most of it consists of images already posted here, but there's some extra stuff as well.
