Err...um...yeah...Panfan wrote:Didn't Albert say he nominated you, though?
I said I sent my nominations in, but didn't say who I nominated, just that I'd vote for Jules if he is nominated for Sig of the Year.
And it may have slipped that I didn't nominate him for Sig of the Year, as I sent the noms in before I saw his awesome "Vote Jules!" banner
Technically, though, Aaron specifically said this:
Please do not post anything about who/what you are nominating in this thread. We want to keep things mysterious.
There's nothing about discussing who we DIDN'T nominate!
I certainly didn't nominate myself for anything.
And I know I didn't nominate PapiBear for Most Amusing Posts of the Year.
Nor did I nominate Lee for Friendliest/Kindest Member of the Year!
And it's pretty much a given that I didn't nominate any threads, reviews, interviews, articles, etc. that were made before May 8, 2007!
BTW, Jules, your avatar reminds us (the long-absent Kram and I) of the scene in Rat Race where Kathy Bates' character is trying to sell squirrels to Whoopi Goldberg. Rent the movie, it's awesome.

Now now now, before we all start voting, I'd like to show my campaign poster. VOTE BRENDAN.

No, really. Vote Brendan.

Is it just me or does Brendan look like two completely different people when you compare his avatar picture (pink letters notwithstanding) to his siggy picture? It's like when you see separate pictures of Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen and takes you awhile to remember that they're actually brothers.

"He's such a good boy" - Brendan's mom
I love it!
I'm also loving that everyone here (in this thread) is full of pre-election spirit
Don't you just bask in the smell of ruthless competition?
Although I'm wondering why not so many people that are frequent posters haven't made their presence known in this thread to support the awards.
And btw Albert, Rat Race sucks. Although i have to admit that the squirrel sales-woman scene is (the only scene) funny
Which reminds me, i want new Whoopi movies! Whoopi don't go!!!!!!!

It's quite true. I can take maybe one good picture of myself post-haircut looking awesome (see avatar), and then, um, one from Halloween, looking like a scraggy homeless person, dressed in black with drawn-on eyebrows. Basically, I used that pic because 1) I was alone and 2) I didn't look like a total skeeze or drunk, just 70% of one.Escapay wrote:Is it just me or does Brendan look like two completely different people when you compare his avatar picture (pink letters notwithstanding) to his siggy picture? But you should vote for me regardless.

It's way more amusing, just "watching", kinda like Statler and Waldorf, but without the not-so nice commentssotiris2006 wrote:"He's such a good boy" - Brendan's mom![]()

I'm a rather frequent poster, that could be nominated for the Super Sophomore award, and perhaps a couple of the other ones as well. However, I don't plan to do any campaigning for the awards. I think the awards should be based on the last year, as a whole, not just the last couple weeks. It would be nice, and fun, to be nominated for some of the awards, or even to win one. I am hoping people will remember my contributions over this past year when they nominate and vote. However, I am enjoying seeing everyone's signatures, avatars, or even campaign posters, they are rather creative.sotiris2006 wrote: Although I'm wondering why not so many people that are frequent posters haven't made their presence known in this thread to support the awards.![]()

I've seen that! On my first viewing I laughed so hard I almost needed hospitalisation afterwards. Incidentally the Kathy Bates scene is one of my favourites (especially the one with the car tumbling down the hill with the signs reading "YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A SQUIRREL!"Escapee wrote:BTW, Jules, your avatar reminds us (the long-absent Kram and I) of the scene in Rat Race where Kathy Bates' character is trying to sell squirrels to Whoopi Goldberg. I was sad to see the critics' reviews of the film. It seems to be mostly accused of not being funny enough, in that the jokes don't fly by as fast as other Zucker films. I strongly disagree. I was laughing constantly, and the earlier Zucker films the reviews referred to (Airplane, Naked Gun) are, in my opinion, just darn lame. Those films never make me laugh. They're lucky to squeeze a giggle out of me. It must be said, however, that it's very difficult for a movie to make me laugh. Laugh out loud, that is. I really really really really really rarely laugh out loud at least once during a comedy film. Either the comedies I'm watching are not skillfully made or it's just insanely hard to make me break a face. incidentally today I was watching Keeping Up Appearances on BBC Prime, and I laughed out loud throughout. Perhaps I find British humour funnier than American humour? In the end, however, I hardly ever laugh in my Disney films either. Meet the Robinsons, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Lilo & Stitch ... none of them make me laugh out loud. Does this happen to anybody else? I still love them though.
Anyway, back on topic. Nowadays the only problem I have with Rat Race is that I'm utterly sick of it and don't want to see it again as long as I live. Really. Overall, I'd say Disney's The Emperor's New Groove is a superior film in that it's just as maddeningly funny (this is a Disney film in which I actually did laugh out loud almost all the time when I saw it!) and remains fun to watch with repeat viewings. Of course, I never really laugh now when I watch Emperor, as I'm familiar with the gags, but it still ranks as #3 on my list of the 2000s Disney Classics.

I quite agree on what you have said but i did not suggest campaigning means supporting the awards. I was just commenting on the lack of posts on this thread considering it is a huge event here on UD. It would be nice if more users could leave a comment not necessarily campaigning to just show that members do care about this.Simba3 wrote:sotiris2006 wrote: Although I'm wondering why not so many people that are frequent posters haven't made their presence known in this thread to support the awards.
Yes, the modesty approach. I smell a strategySimba3 wrote:I'm a rather frequent poster, that could be nominated for the Super Sophomore award, and perhaps a couple of the other ones as well.j/k

Oh ok, I get what you mean. In that case, I agree with you. I think the Forum Awards are a lot of fun. Some people don't seem to care for them, but I think it is just something fun to do. I hope the awards are fun this year and we have a lot of members participating in them.sotiris2006 wrote:I quite agree on what you have said but i did not suggest campaigning means supporting the awards.
