Disney registers Domains for Snow White Blu-Ray and Oliver

Isn't it interesting how Disney seem to have combined the Pixar films into the 'official' canon of the Animated Classics? I think it makes sense, after their acquisition of Pixar. It also means the canon has expanded its mechanism and will accept films produced by both Walt Disney Animations Studios as well as Pixar Animation Studios.

The only problem that arises is that in Europe the Disney Animated Classics are still counted as before (that means minus the Pixar films), and include The Wild.

It does not included the Pixar films, but it does include Dinosaur.

Keep in mind folks, this IS the OFFICIAL list.

Official list or not, Dinosaur is not a Disney Animated Classic in the name-brand sense nor in the production sense. It was produced by Disney's Secret Lab department, not by Walt Disney Feature Animation (now Walt Disney Animation Studios).

Well, personally I'm glad they decided to add it to the list. From what I've read about it, it was supposed to be on the list from the-get-go but because of it doing poor at the box office it was removed.

I really don't wanna get into an argument about this. I do realize this topic is up for a big debate and it could go on and on for decades. I did contact UD and they told me that because the official list now includes it they will probably add it to their list on their site.

I'm not trying to either. It's just the simple fact that the film was produced by Secret Lab, not WDFA (which really should be the only "requirement" to be considered for the brand/line "Disney Animated Classic"), so even if Disney calls it "official" till they're blue in the face, it still won't be true.

After all, they did once say that they'd stick with CGI and stop producing 2D animation, and now we have The Princess and the Frog.

Plus, they also said only 10 films would be in the prestigious (:roll:) Platinum line, only to make it 14 in 2003, then 15 in 2008, and revising the vault time from 10 years to 7.

Oh cool, I didn't know Alice was getting added to the platinum line. I was hoping they would add it eventually. Maybe in 5 more years we'll get Dumbo added!!

Anyways...back on topic...Since the domain for Oliver & Company only metions a DVD website, I wonder if they'll release it on Blu-ray...I hope so!!

Snow White was Disney's first movie. It's SUPPOSED to look old. If you make it in HD and it looks like it was made in 2008, it won't be the same, if you know what I mean. The whole reason it's a classic is BECAUSE of the little imperfections that were common 70+ years ago. Sleeping Beauty might make sense on Blu-Ray because it's widescreen, but I'll cringe if they actually do put oldies like Snow White in that format.

I'm sorry, I don't get it. Are you saying Snow White looked old in 1937? What are these little imperfections of which you speak---bad brush strokes?
