I doubt its racism, really.2099net wrote:Sorry Disney Villain, I hope you don't think I'm being flippent with this post, because its not my intent. But why is Jasmine's popularity slipping. Ask yourself why.Disney Villain wrote:Disneykid, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Also Jasmine has been slipping in popularity lately, despite her new story in Enchanted Tales. If Enchanted becomes majorly successful (which I have no doubt, it will be) then Giselle will, without a doubt, be added to the official Disney Princess line. This could mean Jasmine getting axed from the line.
She is independent. She is not afraid to speak her mind. She is strong and in control.
How can her popularity be slipping when Sleeping Beauty's for example isn't. Jasmine has character. Aurora has not. Not at all. Not a sausage of an identity beyond her visual apperance.
The only reason I can see is because Jasmine is Arab. To me, I see hints of racism in the general public's preferences.
Jasmine is in no way the only independant princess,
belle, ariel and even cinderella (who is even sarcastic at one moment!
try and think in terms of a young girl (who is being marketed these products)
I assume a majority will go for what they assume the most pretty princess.
Aurora (although she doesnt really bring much else to the table) is very pretty- thus girls may choose a notebook with her over a notebook with jasmine for instance.
