That plotline seems way too mature for a Disney TV movie...

And I don't know why people are making such a big fuss over this. Remember Anne Hathaway? Not exactly the same situation as Vanessa, but she did get tired of her "Disney girl" image (or wanted to broaden her range) and starred in Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, in which both roles required her to take off her top. This didn't tarnish her image, and Disney still shows her family-friendly movies from time to time.

Now in the case of Vanessa, she suffered a huge lapse in judgment. But I wouldn't be surprised if Disney made her wear more clothes while filming HSM 3.

Yeah Anne Hathaway has definitely left the Disney image far behind, while her transistion was smooth from kid to adult, when I was watching Havoc I still could not see her as just another actress because Mia from the Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted were still locked in my mind. But besides the point I think shes an okay actress and her timing to make the move was a good one since she wanted to broaden her horizons. And though she did leave that image it didn't mess up her image as a whole since Disney does still air her movies.
