A friend told me that his name is actually Arthur, because his father yells it in the original film. I haven't heard it, but Arthur is more of a name than Charming.
Arthur? what a bad for a prince :P.

Prudence, I don't believe your friend. I have seen Cinderella way too many times, and I can tell you that no where is the name Arthur mentioned. Your friend may have heard the line said by the King "No. No you don't understand what it's like to see your only child, grow farther and farther and farther away from you". He may have mistaken Farther for Arthur.

I'm sure Disney Duster can back me up on this.

Arthur? what a bad for a prince :P.
And yet it was so suitable for a king in The Sword and the Stone. :P :P

If we were to give the prince a name (I refuse to consider Cindy or the Shrill's prince is actually named Charming...reminds me too much of this!), I think it'd be nice if his name was Prince Nicholas. Cinderella & Nicholas sounds cool, doesn't it? Plus, then we could shorten it to Cindy and Nick, and they sound like one of those "cutest couples" names you read about in high school yearbooks. :P

Actually....When I hear the name Stuart.. I think of a little mouse voiced by Michael J. Fox... either that or a book written by E.B. White... :P

How about the name all three versions of Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella give him: Christopher. If we're to assume Charming's a last name, Christopher Charming isn't too shabby. He certainly looks more like a Christopher than a Stuart. :P

Oh, and that Charmings sitcom looks too bizarre to be real (I watched the season openers on YouTube). It looks like the kind of thing you'd find in a MadTV skit. I have to wonder why exactly is the stepmother living with Snow and company when she's tried (repeatedly) to kill her? Unless every episode revolves around another murder attempt by the Queen...

Charmings

Post by kurtadisneyite »

The Charmings lasted two seasons, though it was cut a bit short in the second season.
The Premise was unusual, the effects Quantel Paintbox, and some of the bits were cute.
One of the more bizarre of the shows is the opener, where you get to see the Prince ride his horse to work.

In Snow White, I remember Snow saying a line like "Anyone can see that the Prince was Charming..". I forget where in the film it was said.

I think it's amusing were arguing about what Prince Charming's name would be an how akward some names would be, but we're not questioning Cinderella and Snow White's names.

Also, something completely off the point. I have a Disney day-by-day calendar and a while ago one of the days said that The Queen in Snow White is named Grimhilde. I think that's how it's spelled. In books that Disney realeased near the original theatrical release they addressed her as Queen Grimhilde and not The Evil Queen. Wikipedia also backs that up. I just find it interesting that this was lost in time.

Christopher works, hehe. I picked Stuart partly to see if anyone out there would recognize my obscure soap opera reference (if anyone knows the reference, they'll get a pink elephant!), and partly because Stuart Damon (hehe, another soap opera reference!) played the Prince in the live version with Lesley-Anne Warren back in 1965.

IIRC, Cinderella is derived from "Ella of the cinders", since she would sleep in the kitchen and get dirty from the fireplace. Snow White is just weird.

It's part of the conversation before she sings "Some Day My Prince Will Come"

The Shrill: Well, once there was a princess.
Dwarf: Was the princess you?
The Shrill: And she fell in love.
Dwarf: Was it hard to do?
The Shrill: Oh, it was very easy. Anyone could see that the prince was charming. The only one for me.
Dwarf: Was he, uh, strong and handsome?
Dwarf: Was he big and tall?
The Shrill: He was so romantic, I could not resist...

Actually it would be Snow White's Prince not Cinderella's since Snow White was released 23 years before Cinderella

Snow White says that her prince is charming (notice the lowercase "c")- an adjective. And Cinderella's prince's last name (or possibly first name) is Charming (notice the uppercase "C")- a proper noun.

These lines prove why Snow White should be made fun of on MST3K.

Snow White: Well, once there was a princess
Mike:(imitating the shrill*) Who had standards as high as her voice.
Dwarf: Was the Princess you?
Tom Servo: No, she had better men around her.
Snow White: And she fell in love.
Crow T. Robot: With that sweater that was on sale!
Dwarf: Was it hard to do?
Mike: Not with the brocher explaining all 20 steps.
Snow White: Oh, it was very easy. Anyone could see that the prince was charming.
Tom Servo: If they had there eyes gouged out.
Dwarf: Was he, uh, strong and handsome?
Dwarf: Was he big and tall?
Crow T. Robot: And on steroids?
Snow White: He was so romantic, I could not resist...

It's Not the first time!
Lady Tremaine (Cindy's stepmother) lost her name over time. It wasn't until the eighties that an article published in a now forgotten magazine (which in turn was quoted by major a Disney collectible book), restored "Lady Tremaine" to Cindy's step-mom.

But unlike the queen's name (which I don't really believe, because it's not mentioned in The Encyclopedia of Walt Disney's Animated Characters), Lady Tremaine is actually said in Cinderella, during the ball.
