Wow, it's nice to find more anti-Sanjaya people
I hate him as much as the next person, and for the life of me can't understand why the hell he's still here. I was reading somewhere on yahoo in one of their updates where it said "scarily, he has a large fan-base." A fan base of what?? I agree with most of you: it's either little girls or his heratige keeping him in. I do know that if Sanjaya does win the Idol, then I'm not watching it anymore (and I've been watching since the season where Carrie Underwood won). And I'm scared to watch next Thursday's elimination

Those are good choices, but do you really think "boom box boy" Blake can stand up to Meilinda Doolittle, or even LaKisha Jones? I think not. He is unique in his style, but this is a singing contest and boom boxes have no place in a singing contest.Lakisha Jones

I think Blake is the best male singer without the beat boxing. He has a very smooth quality to his voice. I was convinced when he sang "Somewhere Only We Know" and didn't beat box at all. For me, his performances are always the most entertaining of the guys. I firmly believe he will be in the top 4, but the top 2 will deffinatley be Melinda and LaKisha and I really hope Melinda wins. She's amazing!

all this time i cant really stand phil, but last night i think he did really well except for a few parts where he shouted...going home SHOULD be sanjaya with that awful curly frizz, but if its not gonna be him it will be brandon or haley, since they forgot their words and did not match any of the other contestants abilities....

Sanjaya was AWEFUL! He never fails to dissapoint. And his hair made me feel like he should have sane "Tomorrow" from Annie... I agree that if he isn't going home this week, I will be mad.
I really do like Haley, but I admit that last night wasn't very good. I couldn't believe what Simon said. I think he probably saw that she was on the verge of tears and wanted to say something comforting for a change. But hopefully she makes it beyond Sanjaya.
I really like Brandon's voice when he uses it right. Last night, I couldn't tell if his microphone simply wasn't loud enough or if he wasn't good, but even without the forgotten lyrics, I didn't like it at all.
I didn't mind what Chris Sligh did to that song, partly because I had never heard the original. However, I liked his voice. He just creeped me out with his too-perfectly-curly-for-a-guy hair and the absence of his glasses. Why do people who regularly wear glasses always look so weird without them?
As for Phil, I don't much care for his voice. There is something really weird about it, especially when he sings low notes. However, I do like when he shouts. He has a pure shout. And I half wonder if he had hair if it would drown out his big ears?
I like Blake. He is my favorite of the guys. I didn't much care for the techno remix of the song he sang last night, be he still sounded good on it.
LaKisha (whome I will always refer to as KeKe from here on in) did a great job, as always, but I didn't feel it was her strongest performance she has done.
I loved the song Jordan sang last night. I haven't seen "The Land Before Time" in so long, but I remembered parts of the song. However, I didn't think she was as good as the judges said. I wouldn't quite put her with Melinda and KeKe, but she isn't too far behind.
And the best for last, Melinda. I LOVE her so much. She's an amazing singer and you can tell that she is just the sweetest person on earth. She really deserves to be famous and I think if she goes on to be huge, she will be like and Oprah/Ellen type of celebrity who is always helping some cause or working with an organization to make the world a better place. I got goosebumps during the song and watching her eyes swell up with tears after the huge applause was awesome. I could see why it made Paula so emotional. I can't stress this enough, I hope she wins!
As for the rest of the singers, they were all pretty good. None of the others deserve to win/be voted off yet, but I think a few of them will be successful beyond American Idol. Particulary Jeana(sp?). I like her the best of the rest. lol.

SANJAYA MUST GO............NOW!!!!!!!!
The biggest no-talent to ever hit the stage, and I cannot figure out what it is other than he has a following because he is the first of his ethnicity to get on American Idol and they are just voting to keep him on.
Brandon didn't do much to win over the judges, but if he goes before Sanjaya then there is something really fishy going on with the voting.
Jordon proved that she belongs on the show, and it is my prediction that she will be among the Final Four when it is all said and done. The song she sang from "The Land Before Time" was just awesome, and with Melinda and LaKisha raising the bar so high, she was equal to the task last night.
Blake is probably the strongest of the male contestants, but I don't see any of the guys getting beyond the Top Five.
If you read the USA today paper yesterday and what their judges say, there isn't a chance for any male contestants to make it past the Top Five, but if anyone stands a slim chance, it is Blake.

I don't really feel that Brandon deserved to be gone. I mean, it goes without saying that I feel that Sanjaya should have been the one to leave, but I don't think Brandon deserved to be that low on the list. He gave a pretty bad performance on Tuesday, but I feel that he has a really good voice when he uses it and I would have liked to have seen him get another chance. Sanjaya is beyond second chances and hopefully he will be off next week, since he was second to last this week. I'm very surprised that Haley wasn't in the bottom 3, but I always hoped she would stick around one more week to see if she can prove herself. I like her and she's another case of a singer who has a good voice when she really uses it. During the Diana Ross tribute tonight, I thought she sounded awesome on her solos. So did Brandon. Notice how Sanjaya was reduced to singing back up the whole time. lol. I HATE him!

I knew Brandon was gone when the top 3 was announced. Sanjaya needs to go NOW. I know he has the support of Vote for the Worst this year. Not sure how much they really help each season though with their voting. He might be able to do better if he would actually sing out. He sounds like he is just whispering the song each time he sings.
Melinda and LaKisha are still my top two this season. Each week they bring their A game and it shows. I really hope one of the two wins this year.
Jordin wasn't bad at all. I liked her performance, and I would probably put it at #3 for the night.

I was nervous that the last spot in the Bottom 3 was down to either Sanjaya or Haley. I was hoping Sanjaya would be in the bottom, and he was, and I let out a shriek of delight. I've liked Brandon from the get-go, and although I didn't vote for him this week, I think that he is 100% better than Sanjaya. Earlier on, I voted for Sanjaya, at least once, if not twice. He just hasn't proved himself yet. Maybe he did excellent in his audition, but it's been downhill from there. He just isn't nearly as strong a singer as everyone else. Haley isn't my favorite at all, and I hope that she steps up her game so that Sanjaya gets sent home before her. I was shocked that Phil was in the Bottom 3. I thought he did really well- his was my favorite male performance on Tuesday. I wonder what the theme of next week will be...

My brother and I did a similar thing to get Antonella off. What we did was when the lines opened, we voted for everyone 5 times... everyone except Antonella. That's only 10 votes per idol between the two of us, but hey, she was gone the next day.
I think to really make it work, you have to at least vote for the bottom 4, because with so many people calling for Sanjaya as the worst singer (remember how far that creepy guy got last year because of them?), it's going to take a lot of votes for the better performers who aren't the best to creat balance. I hate those vote for the worst people. It infuriates me when good people are let go before their time because some people want to see how far they can get a bad person.

At least Sanjaya didn't forget his words, but he is still the least talented of those left in the competition and I think his days are truly numbered. After last night's show, you could tell that he really wanted to be the one to go, and again was surprised that it was someone else besides him - Brandon.
I was surprised to see Phil Stacey in the bottom three, I really thought his performance was a lot better than that, but it is the votes that count.
The girls all brought their "A" game to the show Tuesday night, and I truly think that Blake will be the last man standing when it comes down to the final Five, it will be four girls and Blake and then he will get the axe.

I'll probably do the same thing. Sanjaya needs to go.dvdjunkie wrote:AwallaceUNC wrote:

Overall this season, personally, has been very boring to me. I enjoy Melinda and LaKisha, but honestly thats it. I can see Blake making it pretty far. He has a pretty good following that will take him pretty far. He want win I don't think.
Something about Chris Richardson annoys me. I don't know what it is, but its something.
This season is sort of like Season 3 to me. I didn't enjoy Season 3 much at all. Season 4 and 5 were my favorites. I only watched half of Season 2, and none of Season 1 so I can't really judge them as a whole.
Maybe Season 7 will be better, or either this one will step up and get better. Maybe its just me and I'm in a Idol slump though.
