I hadn't heard about it either, until she cancelled her trip here to Australia last year in November to promote her latest fragrance. A few people were pissed off, and they said that she only cancelled people she was desperate to film this Cusack movie. Sounds like she wants some movie credibility. I know that it's called either Brand Hauser: Stuff Happens or War, Inc. I don't know anything else about it, except that it's apparently a more mature role for her. I think that if she proceeds with roles like this, she could (possibly) win an Oscar. I know with her limited ability and her body of work, that she won't, but I mean, that by the time she's 50, she should have something to her name. Hopefully.

Well, I think I read she was playing a pop Diva in it, maybe like the one she played in the Lizzie McGuire Movie, ha. Or like Anna Faris in "Just Friends," as a spoiled, comedic character. Who knows. I just hope that she's careful when defining "adult roles." Though I still have faith in her in that regard. But, I think people throw that phrase around a lot and don't define it in the best way. It seems like most people define "more adult roles" to be really sexual, or playing a drug addict, or stuff like that. Yeah, it's just acting and someone has to play those roles because they reflect real-life, but not every aspect of real-life (or every person's real-life), and one shouldn't have to take on a role like that to be seen as a serious adult actor. I guess what I mean is, people seem to define adult roles as controversial roles.

Color me astonished.

Her newest track, "With Love", recently premiered on TRL and I'm thinking Little Hilary has a hit on the way. I personally love it--it's a wildly catchy slice of electro-pop.

Yeah me too. I love this song, compared with Play with Fire. She definitely should've released With Love first. It's really catchy. The clip is great, but a bit disappointing as it's essentially an extended version of the ad. It even has the perfume in it. Oh well, it's still fab. Here's the link to the clip on YouTube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoBUAmeSqIw, and here's the link to Play With Fire on YouTube- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAuWZIwqSMM. I hope she has another hit, she's flown under the radar a bit in the past year or two.

I think I like the Play With Fire one better. Not that the video itself is better, but the song. I find it harder to pick out the lyrics with that other song and it's techno sound. She looks really tall in it, by the way. I wonder if it's just the heels, or if she got super tall! Seems to have developed a wig fetish, because she had a similar one in one of her last videos before these. Not a big fan of the wig, ha.

Yeah I see what you mean. Play with Fire is a bit slow for me though, and it's a bit boring. It's a really good song, but just boring compared to With Love. It is hard to understand her, but I still love the sound of the song. I wonder how the rest of the album will sound.

Here's an update on her album. Dignity will be released on the 3rd of April, 2007, and it two formats, CD and (the one that I'm truly excited about) CD/DVD. The CD will feature 14 songs, including Play With Fire and With Love. Here's the tracklisting-

TRACK LISTING:
1. Stranger
2. Dignity
3. With Love
4. Danger
5. Gypsy Woman
6. Never Stop
7. No Work, All Play
8. Between You and Me
9. Dreamer
10. Happy
11. Burned
12. Outside Of You
13. I Wish
14. Play with Fire

Here's a quote about the songs from her website-
At 19, Hilary has matured into a sophisticated singer and songwriter. Hilary has co-written all the songs on "Dignity", always aiming high and ultimately creating an album of depth and consequence. To realize her vision for the new CD, she teamed with Grammy-Award winning Kara Dioguardi ( Gwen Stefani, Pussy Cat Dolls, Enrique Iglesias, Kelly Clarkson), as well as top producer/songwriters like Chico Bennett & Richard Vission (Madonna, Usher, Killers), Tim & Bob (Nas, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez), Vada Nobles (Rhianna, Lauryn Hill, Faith Evans, Natasha Beddingfield, Warren G), Fredwrecke (Snoop Dog, Eminem, Fergi) Will.I.Am and Rhett Lawrence.

In the title track, she talks about her experiences and observations of living in Los Angeles ("Where's your dignity/I think you lost it in the Hollywood Hills"). "Danger" explores the suspect advances of an older man, while "With Love" turns the world's most common song topic upside down. ("I can take your honesty/All your words weigh heavily/I'm listening to you all the time"). The song "Stranger" reveals a relationship that is picture perfect in public, but cold behind closed doors. With every track, Hilary probes life and love more intensely, and with more vulnerability than she has before.
The CD/DVD will feature this truly exciting bonus features- all 14 songs, a bonus DVD with (get this) 9 video clips, with commentary by Hilary Duff, exclusive photographs and a limited edition individually numbered signature card. I'm really excited about the DVD, which will probably be like a greatest hits DVD thing, which we stupidly didn't get with Most Wanted, while Japan did. I'm trying to figure out the tracklisting of the DVD, so this is what I've got so far.
  • 1. Why Not
    2. So Yesterday
    3. Come Clean
    4. Little Voice
    5. Fly
    6. Wake Up
    7. Beat of My Heart
    8. Play with Fire
    9. With Love
There could be one's that I shouldn't have included, like Why Not, or Play with Fire, since WN is on the Lizzie McGuire Movie DVD, and Play with Fre wasn't officially released as a real single (well at least here in Oz), and the clip is on the Material Girls DVD. Also the Fly clip is also on the Raise Your Voice DVD, and the other clips are also on her "The Girl Can Rock" and "Access All Areas" DVDs. I also am aware that I Can't Wait (which is on the Lizzie McGuire- Vol. 2 "Growing Up Lizzie" DVD), Our Lips Are Sealed (which is featured on the "A Cinderella Story" DVD) and Someone's Watching Over Me (which is just the clip from the movie Raise Your Voice, which is on DVD) are missing. I also know that she appeared on the Circle of Stars "Circle of Life" video clip, of which is on "The Lion King" DVD, along with the making of. Not sure if Material Girls was released as a single in the US either, so not sure if a clip's been made.
Anyone got an official list, or some advice on what to expect from it? The info on this great new release, which I get on the 31st of March (lucky Aussies!), is available here- http://www.hilaryduff.com/, here- http://www.hilaryduff.com/default.asp, and here-http://www.skyroo.com/hilaryduff/?&affc ... ryduff.com
Here's her Myspace page link, which is in itself really cool, and has a ton of stuff like clips, wallpapers, blogs, and info. http://www.myspace.com/hilaryduff
Any thoughts?

Okay, I've researched the DVD on Dignity a little more, and found on an Australian forum the official list of the videos to be found on it. Here's the list-
  • 1."Why Not"
    2."So Yesterday"
    3."Come Clean"
    4."Our Lips Are Sealed"
    5."Fly"
    6."Wake Up"
    7."Beat of My Heart"
    8."Play with Fire"
    9."With Love"
I was pretty much correct, except for Our Lips Are Sealed, being on there instead of Little Voice. Okay, so that means that "I Can't Wait" is out (on the Lizzie McGuire Vol. 2 DVD, and also the Disney Channel Hits, Vol. 1 CD/DVD), Little Voice is out (of which the clip is just a tour video, already on one of her DVDs- I think Access All Areas), Someone's Watching Over Me is out (of which is just the clip from the RYV film, on DVD now), Material Girls is out (which was never released as a single, and I think can be heard in the film of the same name, on DVD now) and Circle of Life is out (which appears on the Platinum Edition of The Lion King, along with a 4 min making of). I know I've said these things before, I'm just clarifying for anyone whos not sure about it.
And this is a list of the videos on the US deluxe edition, even though the list is from an Aussie forum. Australia will probably get it too, it's just the list for the US DVD.

It sounds great, from the looks of it. I can't wait (in the words of Hilary).

On the deluxe edition, there will be an exclusive 1/2 hour interview with Hilary, on her career and her music, from her home in L.A. Sounds great. Half an hour is a long interview, wonder how she'll hold up.

I like Hilary's older music better than what I've heard of her new stuff ("Play With Fire" and "With Love"). I recently heard "With Love", and I really don't like it nearly as much as her older music. "Play With Fire" isn't bad, but, again, I just don't like it as much. I like the song "Material Girl" that she did with Haylie, so I can't say I don't like all of her new music. I'll definitely need to hear clips of the other songs before deciding whether or not to purchase her new CD.

Well, if you don't like her new stuff, then I'm not sure if a whole about of dance-inspired music is for you, but here's a few links to other songs on the album. Here's one-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeKX66YsjHQ- with the instrumental version of her new song "Between Me and You", and here's another one-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNiDSzNk ... ed&search= -with the instrumental version of her new song "Stranger". I like BM&Y, it nice and slow, and Strangers good because it's got a kind of techno edge to it. I love her new direction. She knows that shes sold all she can out of her pop era, and now wants to delve into new areas and experiment a bit. I know that they won't be as good as with the vocals with them, but at least you get what she'll be doing with this album. I doubt that you'll like them, because they're world away from her old stuff, but on the plus side, if you buy her new album, you get that bonus DVD with all of her clips made, which will include her older stuff. And for the record, Material Girls won't be on the album, in case you were wondering. I guess that she doesn't want bubble-gum pop duets with her sister to tarnish her new direction of her music.
Enjoy.

Thanks so much, James! I had totally forgotten about this thread. I liked "Stranger" more than the other. "Stranger" actually sounded good. I like dance-pop (like Britney, Christina, Jessica, early Mandy, etc.), so it's not that aspect I don't like, but it's the techno-ness...it's the same things with what I heard a few months ago from the new music Britney was working on. If I like the majority of clips I hear from Hilary's new album, I may buy it...I just don't know yet!

Oh you're welcome blackcauldron85. Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, she's kind of doing a Kylie thing, and reinventing herself, so you might have to get used to new sounds from her. I personally love all things Hilary, but I'm rather biased.
Oh I just remember why I came to post here. I just bought her single, With Love. It just came out yesterday, and I think that I was probably the first one to buy it. It comes with the normal song, the remix, and a remix of Play With Fire. I hope it gets to number one. It probably won't, but there's always hope.

Thanks so much, James. Of this new series of drawings I've been doing (my celeb dreamgirls as Disney characters), I think this one looks the best, and I'm glad, since Hilary is my top dreamgirl, ha.

Bump. Just a reminder that Hilary's fourth album Dignity is out today for all you Americans, and you can buy it now, or the deluxe edition featuring a bonus DVD of 9 music videos and an interview with Hil. Has anyone bought it yet?

I've been broke since Peter Pan came out. I'm hoping someone will give it to me for my birthday on the 15th. If they don't, I'll at least get money to buy it with (but the price will have gone up...). Of course, I want the one with the DVD. I missed the "Collector's Edition" of her Most Wanted Album, and I didn't get the Signature Edition of the Lizzie Movie Soundtrack either (from the Disney Store), just the regular versions. I'll have to try and get those special ones in time. I know they still have the Collector's Edition of Most Wanted out there, but it's super expensive at the local stores...

Well I hope someone buys it for you S2M, because I just bought it and it's really good. It's consistently diverse, and it sounds great. It's her best yet I'd say. Buy it!

Ha, I definitely will. I just have an empty wallet right now. It is literally empty. In the past, I have always bought her CDs the day they came out. I do want to try to land that Deluxe edition this time though, from the beginning.

Can someone tell me where Hilary debuts on the Billboard Top 100? I really hope she debuts highly, hopefully Number 1!
