Everybody keeps saying that they're gonna wait for the 2-disc edition but we don't know for sure if there's gonna be one. Everybody told me to wait for the 2-disc Lilo & Stitch so I put off buying it & I'm still waiting 4 years later (I did end up buying the 1 disc). I hope this isn't something new that they're gonna start doing if Cars does get rereleased. I don't want to be playing guessing games with all future releases.

And what do you bet the Regular NON bonus disc Target Cars DVD does NOT come with the collectible pin?
I wish it listed what was on the BOnus Disc. I might be near Walmart later on the morning of the 7th (Babysitting and there's a walmart near by). If I knew if they had the same, I'd probably still get it at Target only because of my Target Visa giving more "Reward points". On the other hand, I need to get my nephew a copy of the DVD, so I probably would still get it at Walmart (and bring an ad to get a lower price.......wonder if you can do that on the bonus disc one? I've never gotten the bonus Disc dvds at Walmart, so I've never tried price matching on one).
I'm still not sure where to go. *sigh*

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Don't know about where you are living, but here in Wichita, Wal-Mart will have "Cars" out on the shelves ready for sale at midnight tonight........and I just heard on television that due to the high demand for this movie that a lot of other stores like Super Targets, which are open 24 hours, will also have the movie available for sale at 12:01 a.m.
One of our Best Buys is going to be open until 12:30 tonight so we can go get our copies of "Cars" there, if that is where we are getting it. That's where I will be, because from now until the 24th of December, it is Double Points on all purchases with your Reward Zone card at Best Buy.
I can't wait for midnight to get here tonight. I thought I was going to have to wait until tomorrow morning to watch "Cars", and now I will be able to watch it at around 12:30 when I get home from Best Buy.

As my original post states, and as the ad shows, the Cars are:Okie Tigger wrote:Still trying to come up with a plan here...![]()
Does anyone know how big that Best Buy poster is and is it rolled? And the BB ad shows Lightning, Doc, Mater & Fillmore. Are those the cars for sure or does it vary?
Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson, Fillmore & Mater
I would assume that is what you get.
As far as the poster goes, it does not say. I'd say if it were a poster, it would probably be a normal poster size. However, since it is 3D, it may be smaller. The only way to really find out is to go to Best Buy.

Just to let everyone know, Blockbuster is NOT doing a tin for the DVD release of Cars. The tin being talked about is a POPCORN tin, that contains two types of popcorn, and features characters from Cars.DarthPrime wrote:Has anyone heard anything about a tin case for Cars at Blockbuster? I know they did one for Over The Hedge recently. Just wondering if what I heard was true and if anyone knows what it might look like.
this is my plan tomorrow:
1) Vote
2) Go to Target
3) if Target Deluxe Edition is decent (the extra features on the bonus disc are decent and not pathetic) then buy that version, otherwise.....
4) Go To Walmart. BUying a copy for my nephew there and pricematching it with the Nebraska Furniture Mart Mega Mart ad for $12.99 (yes, CHEAPER than Circuit City). Probably won't get the BOnus Disc there. Will only get the basic one for my nephew (he's 5 1/2. I don't think he'd really care if he had the making of video and anyway, I am not spending extra $ for him)
I may end up just getting the basic one at Target since it has the collectible pin. I wish I knew if both the basic AND the Deluxe had the pin.

I will tell you this. I just got off the phone with my local Super Target store. I asked if the guy could tell me what is on the bonus disc. He said that they will not be bringing them out until early in the morning, and he doesn't know, specifically, what will be on the bonus disc. However, he did say that the Collectible Pin is not packaged with the discs, so, you should be able to get the pin with either the regular version, or the Deluxe Edition. He told me that as long as they had the pin available, they would give it out to anyone who buys either version!jediliz wrote:this is my plan tomorrow:

I'm going to go to Best Buy first thing in the morning. Not sure if I'm going to get the gift set or just the DVD. I'm tempted by the gift set, but I'm still not sure if its worth $30.00 to me.

I've updated the first post with the running times of the material for the Wal-Mart Bonus Disc.
Also, I wanted to make a note on what I'm hearing with regards to Best Buy's poster. Apparently, a forum member at DVDTalk.com said that the display was being set up in Best Buy, and that the "poster" is actually an ON-PACK 3-D lenticular, and is not a normal poster size. So, those looking for a full sized poster may be disappointed. I can't be 100% sure if this is true, but, just a heads up.

Is anybody else here getting the "fooscreen' version of "Cars" instead of the Widescreen version.
While at Best Buy, I stopped more people just out of curiousity and asked them why they weren't buying the whole movie - they all said that they see no difference in regular movies and widescreen except they don't have to deal with the black bars.
Well, you know me, I go off with my dialogue about why there are black bars and why they are missing so much of the movie if they don't get the Widescreen version, and I think I changed about 20 people's minds about their purchase after they listened and watched my demonstration of the differences between "foolscreen" and Widescreen.
I hope that none of you are buying the 'foolscreen' version of this great Disney/Pixar movie. If you are, shame on you!!! You don't know what you are missing.

Yeah I try to explain to some of the folks I know I think most of the time they just don't care which Version the get and they think FOOLSCREEN shows more of the movie... I try but not always successful ..dvdjunkie wrote:Is anybody else here getting the "fooscreen' version of "Cars" instead of the Widescreen version.

No, I don't work at Best Buy, but you can find me there at least three days a week just checking out what is in stock, and seeing my friends.
I teach a class on Widescreen vs. Pan & Scan (Foolscreen) at the Experimental College here in Wichita. This is my second semester and this year I have 23 students, which is up almost 50% from last year.
Lots of good questions come up, and I do a lot of demonstrations. Don't know how many converts I have made, but the reputation of the class is good, and I am always getting stopped by other Professors who want to clarify a certain point.
Being an ex-Disc Jockey, I don't find it hard to stop people on the street or in the stores and ask them questions. I don't ever get pushy, and always have a smile on my face.

Ok, so just so you know, the 3D poster at Best Buy is pretty darn sweet. It's about 14x11, and quite impressive in my opinion. If you're not one for the extra discs elsewhere, the poster is quite cool. They didn't have a ton left though, and this is from a store that usually gets tons of everything.
And ps, still insane amounts of Treasure tins, esp Donald 1 and MMC.
