lol. :P  Hey, I wasn't going to reply to this, but I'm so curious how you figure that Christina isn't as talented as Britney. A lipsyncher, an artist who doesn't write her own music, and does music that completely lacks depth and meaning isn't someone who tops Christina in my book. Image

Wish this was in the Christina thread, so I wouldn't feel bad. lmao

I just feel Britney's music has been more focused than Christina's, a lot more. Christina still seems brighter and more gutsy than Britney. But she's going to have to do an incredible amount of work to catch up. We'll have to see, but it's going to have to extend further than this new album. I wish her all the luck in the world, I do think she deserves it more than Britney.

It's pretty frustrating for fans to have to wait every 4 frickin years for a new album by her. I was dying. But, she does say she wants to live life a while between records and then write about what she's been up to. So if that's what she wants, okey dokey smokey. It's kind of dangerous for her to be releasing a not-so-commercial album after so long since the previous one. At least so far, BTB is doing ok, considering there's been lack of promotion.

Anyway, back to Madonna! lol....

Here's something else that makes me proud to be a fan of Madonna, who, despite the media never really reporting it, has donated to causes concerning AIDS and children, many times in the past.

From MSNBC.com:

Madonna Visits Malawi, May Adopt Child
Oct 4, 6:36 AM EST

The Associated Press

BLANTYRE, Malawi -- Madonna arrived in Malawi on Wednesday on a mission to help AIDS orphans, sparking rumors and reports that she had adopted a child there. Indeed, she may leave with a child adopted in this impoverished southern African country. Andrina Mchiela, secretary to the minister for gender and child welfare, said the pop star planned to adopt a child and launch six projects to help underprivileged children during her stay. Madonna and her husband, director Guy Ritchie, have a son, Rocco, 5, and the singer also has a daughter, Lourdes, 9.

Madonna and an entourage of some 10 people landed on a private plane in the capital Lilongwe just after 9 a.m., according to Mchiela. There had been no prior announcement.

Madonna was expected to spend Wednesday resting in the capital, Lilongwe. She was to travel Thursday to Mphandula, a village about 30 miles from the capital, where she wants to set up an education and feeding center for children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.

Malawi is among the poorest countries in the world, trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of hunger and disease. HIV/AIDS infects just over 14 percent of the 12 million population — most of them economically active adults — and has left an estimated 1 million children orphaned.

In villages like Mphandula, many orphaned children are cared for either by siblings or grandparents, who struggle to find food for the extended family. There is no electricity in the village and the inhabitants live in mud and thatched huts.

Televisions are nonexistent and radios are rare, meaning that most of the villagers have never even heard Madonna sing.

Madonna unveiled her plans for Malawi in an interview in August with Time magazine. She said she wants to raise at least $3 million for programs to support AIDS orphans.

Madonna joins a growing list of entertainer-activist s who have focused on Africa. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, whose child was born in Namibia earlier this year, recently announced they would donate $1 million each to two humanitarian organizations active on the continent.

Actor and director George Clooney has campaigned passionately for the victims of the violence in the Darfur region of Sudan.

Madonna has teamed up with developing-world economic expert Jeffrey Sachs on programs in Malawi, and she's met with former U.S. President Bill Clinton about bringing low-cost medicines to the country.

Sachs has launched a series of comprehensive projects to transform villages in Africa, and Clinton last month announced a campaign against rural poverty in Malawi that will focus in part on combatting AIDS.

I heard "Jump" for the first time a couple of days ago inside a Quizno's. Pretty catchy song. I know it was a fairly big hit but for some reason, it got no play whatsoever in our market, despite "Hung Up" being played around the clock.

Mmm, sounds delish. I'm partial to the prime rib and peppercorn, but I have tried their bread bowls before.

Quiznos?! Only Escapay could turn a discussion about Madonna into a discussion about Quiznos! LOL!

Speaking of Quiznos, I LOVE their Clam Chowder!. I've never tried their Bread Bowls, so, I'm thinking I'll stop there, next week, and have a Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. MMMMmmm. My stomach is growling, just thinking about it.

Anyway, "Jump" is really an awesome song. I think that it's one of Madonna's better songs from the last few years. It screams of "Classic" Madonna!

Oh, I can't take ALL the credit! Aaron mentioned it in his post first! *points finger at Aaron*

And to keep this Madonna-related and sum up the entirety of my relationship with Madonna's career, all I have to say are two words:

Breathless Mahoney

Congratulations to Madonna for her latest Grammy Award! I believe this brings her personal total to 6 Grammy Awards.

Last night, she won for:

Electronic/Dance Album: "Confessions on a Dance Floor," Madonna!

Congratulations to Madonna on her latest Grammy. The first post has been updated -- looks like it's 8 Grammys by my count (though maybe you mean something more specific by "personal total").

Since seeing The Confessions Tour on NBC, albeit in a horribly butchered version, I've come to appreciate COADF a lot more. In fact, Push is the one song I can say I really don't like from the CD.

I picked up the CD/DVD set of The Confessions Tour about a week ago. It's SO much better on DVD, uncut, no commercials, nothing censored. And I'm probably in the minority, but I actually LIKED the editing and crazy angles, shots, slow mo shots, superimposing of effects on the image, etc. It's more cinematic than most concert DVDs. Not to mention the performances were absolutely spectacular. I don't listen to the CD, though. I made my own 2-CD set from the DVD's lossless PCM audio track. :D

I got the Confessions Tour the week it came out but I finally got around to watching the DVD the other day on my Dads 70" DLP in Surround Sound and it was the most incredible experience I have ever gotten out of a DVD.

Can anyone reccomend me any other really good Madonna releases on DVD or CD? I have all of her albums except I'm Breathless, Evita, and any other of the Soundtracks. I just recently got around to getting the Remastered Editions of her first 3 Albums and they sound Incredible, Much better than the muddy sounding originals. I wish they would release a Remastered Version of Like A Prayer. Mine sounds like a warped cassette tape on anything but my Ipod and I bought it brand new last year at the mall.

Madonna is awesome. I like that new song of her's called Jump. If you ever saw the video and is also an anime/manga fan, you're realize that in that music video, she dressed up as Mello from Death Note. Seems to be a fan of Death Note.

I went into Quizno's the other day and "Jump" was playing again! I had just watched The Devil Wears Prada the night before and it was in there (along with "Vogue") as well.

Jump is still to this day my favorite song on COADF and it actually got VERY little airplay here in Milwaukee, WI. Considering Hung Up got a lot of airplay when it first came out and Sorry got VERY little airplay and Get Together got NONE. I was hoping Jump would catch on but it is a no win situation when US radio ignores requests for her songs or laughs at you when you call to request her new stuff. But yet they have NO problem keeping her entire old catalog in constant rotation, makes no sense.

Regarding the Confessions DVD/CD, I loved this concert (saw it 4 times in Chicago) but I hate the editing, granted there was always so much going on and they try to include too much. As for the CD i was disappointed at the track selection so i ripped the sound off the DVD of the entire show and it totally jams in my car.

I am now looking forward to new music from the Queen, early rumors have surfaced that she appears on a new track on Timberland's album and other rumors are that she is going the hip hop/rap route with her new album, which in some ways I am sickened that she is going along with what is considered popular in the US for way too long. But at the same time she always adds her own new spin to something that has been done before and makes it all her own. Only time will tell.

Has anyone noticed how her lyrics are not as great as they once were? Starting with EVITA, all her albums have lyrically become very simple and childish. Lacking passion and expecting the sound of the production to make up for it. Which it surely did on Ray of Light, which of course was an outstanding album based purely on the quality of the music mixed with her outstanding vocals (but they're almost always outstanding, considering that she never was as classically trained or talented as the Whitney Houston's or Mariah Carey's).

I've been considering this ever since 2001 or so, when I became a little bored with Madonna's albums. And I had the amazing Erotica and Bedtime Stories to compare it to. Bedtime Stories I still consider to be her greatest album ever. And if other people feel it has to be Like a Prayer, we'll just call it her best '90s album. Because right from songs like "Sanctuary" and "Bedtime Story," we know she's about to go techno. Or Techno-pop, much difference. But Bedtime still had amazing lyrics. And songs like "Sanctuary" and "Love Tried to Welcome Me" are some of the most moving songs she's ever recorded. Because those lyrics absolutely slay on an emotional and sonic level.

But then, along came the stale Evita, and she changed her whole style. Everything became about a lesson she had learned. It's impossible not to notice. Ray of Light is about her learning to be Spiritual. American Life is about her learning to be Political. Confessions is about her learning to distance herself from fame and fortune. Music is about her learning to just have fun. It's like she's going through a mid-life crisis, in individual stages, with each album. And her lyrics are all about herself, as in, Madonna, the superstar, "my personal life." From the perspective of her Inner self as though she weren't her Outer self anymore.

She uses her music to sell slightly more European versions of whatever trendy pop type songs are the most popular, with, like I said, very "me me me" lyrics. Her songs used to be about an overwhelming passion or joy of something. Now it's from such a personalized point of view, the message of her music feels alienating.

WOW you are the first person, like myself that I have heard say that Bedtime Stories and Erotica are their favs. I have always thought that Erotica was by far one of her best albums and still to this day stands the test of time. But then when BS came out, I was completely blown out of the water. I think that since Ray of Light something changed. I thought Ray of Light had amazing lyrics and her vocals were amazing, but to me ever since that album things have really changed. Granted Music was a fun album, I barely listen to this album any more, it doesn't stand the test of time as well as some of her past albums do. Then along came American Life and I HATED this album when it came out, I have learned to appreciate it but I tend to get bored listening all the way through.

I was so excited for Confessions on a Dance Floor and I don't think she disappointed, but there still is something missing from the Madonna that used to excite with every new single and video. I will say I was very impressed with the ReInvention Tour and The Confessions Tour, the fact that she is making herself more accessible to the fans is amazing, she grabbed my hand in the pit on RIT and 3 times grabbed my hand on TCT and i even got to sing in the mic on Hung Up. Being that close to her was the most amazing feeling in the world, I can't describe it but I was in tears and there is no other singer in the world that does this to me. I am now 37 but felt like a teenage boy when she touched me for the very first time.
