With 2016 now upon us, Disney is ready to launch a brand new, 3-year long campaign it is calling ‘Dream Big, Princess.’ According to Disney, the campaign will show the strong, active, unique side of each Disney Princess, with a special focus in 2016 on Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel.

Pocahontas and Mulan are absent again. Didn't Hasbro promise to remedy that?bruno_wbt wrote:Here's the rest of the princesses

While I like the song on its own, I agree that it would be much preferable to have a new original song as the theme for the franchise like they did before with "If You Can Dream", "When Dreams Begin", and "The Glow". That would actually help boost sales and sell even more merch. I'm surprised they aren't doing that anymore.bruno_wbt wrote:I don't like the music that they are using in this video... not princessy at all... They should do another "If you can dream" anthem for the princesses including the new ones.
I don't like this.bruno_wbt wrote:They just removed all the pictures from the princesses with their makeover from the official website and Facebook. They are using pictures from the movies now.
I don't like the use of screen caps, either.Sotiris wrote: I don't like this.Using screen caps from the movies is the laziest thing ever. Not to mention that the CG princesses clash really bad with the 2D princesses now. There's no stylistic consistency.

That's certainly odd. It might be just a fluke. I highly doubt they'll ever revert to their pre-makeover look. All of the new Hasbro merch have the newest makeover look so far. I guess, we'll have to wait and see but I wouldn't hold my breath.bruno_wbt wrote:But Hasbro and Toys'r'us are using cliparts without the makeover. Do you think that this is the end of the 2012's makeover?
I hope so! But it doesn't seem they are quite done with it in some things. The makeovers are still in the Tiny Kingdom stuff and Rapunzel is still missing the dark section of her skirt they took out with the makeovers. But maybe it's just something they missed?bruno_wbt wrote:Is it the end of the 2012's makeover?

with a special focus in 2016 on Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel.
No surprise considering how those are their four most popular princesses. And it's interesting to note that Hasbro promised to keep a spotlight on the minority princesses, but I barely see any products for Pocahontas, Mulan, and even Tiana. The former two just have the one doll each.unprincess wrote:with a special focus in 2016 on Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, and Ariel.
so, business as usual?![]()
so much for the promise of emphasizing the minority princesses.
Im glad to see the glitzy makeovers gone though...

I agree 100%.Disney Duster wrote:And I LOVE that they are using screencaps for the official site and Facebook. Now the princesses look like themselves, and without the makeovers, too! Yes, I do wish they did some really good, new, but on-model and movie accurate images, but I'll take this over the makeovers or any crappy looking art!

This is such an empowering campaign; it really focuses on celebrating the individuality of each princess and really what makes her so unique. It will feature on-air interstitials, brand anthem, mini-movies, music videos, and more.
Telling that Moana already has so much hype and Elena had no media footage yet, it's definitely Elena. But, the first teaser for Moana is very possible.Sotiris wrote:Disney will be announcing their newest princess on Good Morning America on February 19th. Do you think it's going to be Elena or Moana?

*Shrughs*. Not another lineup where they once again look generic and inferior.Sotiris wrote:Disney is depicting the princesses in a more stylized, storybook look for the toy line "Little Kingdom".

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Weird. Maybe they didn't include her because they consider Aurora too passive. Hasbro desperately wants to present the princesses as "strong" and "active" now and Aurora's doesn't quite fit the bill (neither does Snow White but they kinda have to include her since she was the first one). I'm guessing she'll still be heavily used in merch, just not in these TV spots aimed at parents.
I think Snow White is strong! She ran bravely through a scary forest and found a home for herself and made sure she could stay there to save her life! And Aurora spun around just like Cinderella did so she could be there with those dancing girls, too! Oh, and Aurora is actually not completely passive either, she was set on having Phillip come to her cottage and meet her aunts despite them telling her not to talk to strangers.Flanger-Hanger wrote:But I'm bothered by the exclusion of Aurora from that new video. You could argue she's not empowering, but if you're going to make a point of showing every other princess (including Snow White and Cinderella) it just looks like a mistake more than anything else.
Just in case you didn't know, that image of Belle is from the new storybooks Disney has made for the princesses.Atlantica wrote:The new clip art images though that are now being used are wonderful ! LOVE the fact Belle is there in her blue dress ! Never thought that would actually ever happen.
It looks like her old bun with the new makeover swoop bangs. I think her bun looks bad in the Tiny Kingdom version, I must say.Disney's Divinity wrote:I much prefer the chibi artwork over the regular clipart you see for the princesses; it's cute. Well, except for Cinderella's ugly-ass hairdo.
Lol. You don't think Ariel's green dress just suits her hair better? Also, her blue dress does not have a black corset but a very, very dark blue corset. Check out Disney Screencaps for reference.Disney's Divinity wrote:Ariel's green dress has grown on me, just because I think they wanted to use her tail-color in some way since she's a mermaid more than she's in any dress and yet they can't keep her a mermaid next to the others in dresses. I wonder why they don't use her "Kiss the Girl" dress more. I know it's blue, but it stands out from the other blue dresses because of the black corset/top and the bow. I'm still waiting for clip art of her in her the sails dress Scuttle made for her.

It was Elena.Sotiris wrote:
